“I don’t know about this...I mean I said I wanted to do fieldwork with you guys, but can’t I just go in my regular clothes?” Izuku asked from within the changing room as he stared at the various suits he, Tobita, and Aiba picked out.
“While there is nothing wrong with what you wear, that only works when you are working behind the scenes Midoriya! You are going to be front and center with the two of us, and for that you need something to make you stand out and catch the attention of others!”
“Come on Izuku-chan! I know you’ll look adorable,” Aiba said, voice filled with encouragement that Izuku could hear from beyond the door.
He gave a hesitant smile, deciding to start with the one he picked first. Yellow undershirt, maroon jacket and pants with pinstripes, and a black bow tie. Even if it felt a little too loose, he figured he got the sizing right.
Feeling a bit of pride, he walked out of the room with a grin on his face...which soon fell as Tobita and Aiba both made X’s with their arms.
“Is there...something wrong?” Izuku asked.
“Midoriya, I will forever say that you are a gift to this world and we are both lucky to have you in our lives, but that suit is atrocious. It doesn’t even fit you properly and those colors would make you more likely to blend into the crowd instead of standing out,” Tobita said, keeping his voice gentle.
“I like the yellow, and the bow tie is cute! Just, not maroon,” Aiba said, trying for an encouraging smile anyway.
Izuku shifted before shaking his head. “I guess my inexperience with this shows here?”
“Indeed, but not everyone is an expert on everything. You just need either an excellent teacher or practice, both if you’re fortunate to have them available,” Tobita said, holding a finger up and giving a wide smile. “Now, why don’t you try on my pick?”
“Right, that makes sense,” Izuku said, grinning as he could feel a bit of confidence restored when he went back in the changing room to grab what Tobita chose.
Black suit with no tie, Izuku immediately thought to his current boss by a technicality- more like a business partner in his opinion. Along with the fact that Tobita knows of this business partner for another reason.
Still, he decided to change into the suit his mentor picked out and stepped out.
“You know, I thought this would fit for some reason. However, now that you have it on...I don’t think this is you,” Tobita admitted.
“Feels like I’m copying my current boss,” Izuku mumbled quietly under his breath as he fiddled with the collar of this shirt to find it was pretty loose anyway.
“And we don’t want you copying someone else! So try out my pick, I’m sure it’s perfectly original!” Aiba suggested.
The next one Izuku changed into was nothing more than a mere green dress shirt with a black clip-on tie, black vest, and black slacks. While it felt more comfortable than the others, Izuku couldn’t help but scrunch his nose at this one.
For some reason, it felt even more unoriginal than the first.
Aiba gave a squeal when she saw Izuku walk out in that. “Ah! You look adorable like this Izuku-chan!” She exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
“It does look nice,” Tobita said, though Izuku could tell he wasn’t completely sold on rgis one either. “Though, I feel like I’ve seen this look somewhere…”
“I do like the green shirt, but I think it’s the tie and vest?” Izuku said, tugging at the collar before shaking his head. Somehow, he felt like this would fit a more serious villain when...that’s just not him.
“Well, perhaps we should look around more? Maybe we can find something for you then,” Tobita suggested right as Izuku went into the changing room to get changed once more.
“Yeah! Maybe we could try some other colors or even styles!”
Izuku found himself smiling at the enthusiasm of Tobita and Aiba, watching them both run around the store to pick out what they think would work well for him. Even then, from what he could see he just wasn’t finding anything that seemed to work from their choices.
Still, he decided to look for himself until one jacket caught his eye.
Stepping over to the rack, he went through to find the size that was the same as the jacket Tobita gave to him until he pulled it out before grinning and turning towards his companions.
“Tobita? Aiba? How about this one?” He asked, holding the jacket in question up.
“Izuku-chan, that’s kind of-” Aiba started to say.
“I think we should see you in it before judging,” Tobita said, his grin wide as he already moved to grab a pair of slacks that would match in color to the jacket Izuku picked out.
“And maybe this?” Izuku asked, grabbing a bow tie.
“Yeah, I think that would look adorable! And why not go with a lighter green for the undershirt?” Aiba suggested, seeming to have gotten the memo from Tobita.
With an armful of clothes, Izuku immediately went into the changing room. Already feeling a little more excited. Especially as he pulled on the jacket. He turned to look behind him and to check to make sure it actually fits properly, at least he hopes it does, before going out and looking into the mirror.
Bright red jacket with large white polka-dots, plain red slacks, a green dress shirt that was lighter than the one Aiba picked out earlier, and a gold bow-tie with black stripes. All the colors and patterns made Izuku feel like a walking disaster, but at the same time…
He couldn’t help the wide grin on his face. Especially as he ran a hand through his hair to activate the quirk that he got from his boss. Green going to white, he then waved his hand over his face to allow for his eyes to go red and to “erase” his freckles.
Turning towards Tobita and Aiba, he still had that wide smile.
“Well? What do you think?” He asked.
Tobita returned the grin he was giving. “I can tell that you’re actually happy in that, even more so than the others. So it gets a pass from me!”
“At first with your green hair and eyes I wasn’t sure, but now? I like it a lot!” Aiba said, giving a thumbs up of her own along with a wide smile.
That really got Izuku to literally beam as he went to the changing room, happy to have the approval of his mentors...and now he has his own villain look!
Which only leaves getting into UA’s Department of Management...
