              One night I couldn't sleep because I was afraid of sleep paralysis, so I just wrote a chapter about a character being psychologically and physically tortured and it calmed me down......I don't know why

                Hmm. I'm not sure, but everyone has different things that make them feel better :) As long as it's not harmful to people who aren't fictional, I think you're probably good XD

                  Maybe it was just writing and that happened to be the part of the story. But now that I think about it, my stories are all Very angsty

                    That's possible. And lots of people write angsty stories, sometimes it's an escape mechanism, sometimes people just like to play with psychological reactions in characters, some just like to read angst much like others read horror. Each to their own :)

                      I don't know why I keep giving characters panic attacks and send them running through torture rooms- kind of- but I do know that I've been stockpiling and I am So nervous to post

                        If you tag openly, you should be fine to post. There are who swathes of people who consider the "Saw" franchise as their favourite movies. You probably have nothing to worry about, lol.

                          Not really like that. I don't go into much detail about violence, just the effect on the character.

                          As much as I love Rick Riordan, he really copped out by not making Nico a "main character" and therefore not giving him a perspective in the third/eighth book. He just made him nearly completely different and left me to fill the holes

                              He made my favorite character, Nico, a side character, and my other favorite, Leo, is a main character.

                              Nico went from okay but also not recluse teen to depressed and lonely teen who hates life and is a kinda suicidal but not really. He's kinda just looking for a reason to give his life to, usually willing to martyr himself for the lives of his friends. At least that's how I interpreted it.

                              The author made the switch with no explanation other than he had been in Tartarus (which was to Nico as Afghanistan was to Tony). So I have to come up with all these traumatizing things and it's hard to show the gradual shift.

                              Plus I ship Nico and Leo so showing their dynamic change there will be difficult

                                  IT'S JUST HARD TO MAKE THEM DEPENDANT ON EACH OTHER!!!!

                                  Everyone thinks that they're both depressed, but that Nico deals by shying away from people and Leo deals by cracking jokes and never letting on his feelings.

                                  Leo seems like an open book, but nobody can be happy that much
