Nope you arent overthinking! Tae is envious that Jin is doing so well in the competition but also annoyed that he's closed off and not making friends. On top of that hes jealous because hes attracted to him but hes unavailable. So all of that kind of erupts into Tae being unnecessarily rude to him.
To make it more complicated, Jin is attracted to Taehyung too but he's not really letting himself go there because of his boyfriend. So in a twisted way Jin kinda likes the attention from Taehyung lmao. They both are kinda into this weird dynamic they have, but it will be explained better in later chapters. Thanks for the comment!
