  1. It's so good to hear the "gameplay" is resonating. I'm like, Potionomics is a deck builder, so there has to be a common thread there, but if I don't want to write a super mechanical card game (or a tournament of them) there's no way people want to read it. 🤣 Glad that keeping it punchy worked.

I'm slightly curious though, if you're not big into deck building games, how did you get into Potionomics? For me, I like deck building but prefer it in a casual or cooperative format, so the cozy vibe was perfect (even if the actual gameplay can be stressful, lol).

    1. Well I should say it's not the deck building so much that's the issue. With stuff like magic and Yugioh it's more the lottery side of opening card packs that I take issue with. I actually used to play the magic game on xbox 360 years and years ago (enough that I don't remember how to play)

Building good decks in the game Itsy Bitsy Kaiju is analogous to is just too expensive and random for my tastes. But, recently I have taken a like to the mechanics around these things. (Of course I won't lie I didn't realize potionomics had deck building when I initially bought it.)

But, I have been playing a bit of wildfrost lately. Which is like a deck builder meets roguelite. It's got an adorable art style and I'll randomly play a few hands here and there. [Ah tangent sorry].

So to summarize your question. I enjoy the mechanics of deck building when I can get into a flow but I don't particularly want to invest the money into analog deck builders.

      1. That's so fair - that's exactly why I'm not into them. I play Magic in the online arena sometimes so I can play with my brother and satisfy my desire to not spend any money on it nor have physical cards. Potionomics drops a few hints that Finn's not terribly responsible with money, so I guess that's just another reason a game like Itsy Bitsy Kaiju makes sense as a hobby, haha.

Oooh, I've had Wildfrost on my wishlist for a bit - recommend? I've just been waiting to get through some more of my backlog (impossible task). Downloading Slay the Spire on my phone has not helped me in that regard, but c'est la vie. I really love the Arkham Horror LCG, since there's no randomness and you just have all the cards to make a deck from, and because you play co-op against the unimaginable eldritch horrors.

        1. I'm not entirely sure if I can reccomend it to someone who's really good at deck building games. But, as a novice, the roguelite map is relatively small so, when I have like 30 minutes to kill playing a couple of hands is fun.

I've only managed to beat the final boss once. But, that may be a product of bad luck. It's not punishing in a way that stops me from coming back to it so? 8/10? But, I play it on game pass so I didn't have to pay for it directly.

          1. Ohoho - I may enjoy deck builders, but that doesn't mean I'm great at them. 🤣 Perhaps I'll pick it up on sale eventually.

            1. I did run into /one/ issue. Once I found a strat that worked and beat the boss . . . the boss stole my strat and I have not figured out how to beat my own strat
