A Heart of Green Fire

Summary:

During a trip to the mall with him and his mom, a villain attack happens. Izuku developes his quirk while trying to save some people. Unfortunately his mother did not make it but his actions and quirk did not go unnoticed.

Or Izuku is taken in by the hero commission and is taken into the Hero Public Safety Commission's Paragon Program.

Notes:

I couldnt find the official name for the program that Hawks and Lady Nagant were part of so i used the name that is used by the fic: Who's the boss now, by FeelingDeadly.

(A great fic by the way)

Chapter 1: Quirk Awakening

Chapter Text

Izuku was just waiting for the day his quirk developed, but he just wished it didn't have to happen this way.
_____

It was a good day. Izuku and his mom were at the mall. She was treating him for his fifth birthday. They didn't have a lot of money, so going out was a rare but enjoyable treat. They were eating at Mighty Burger when some villains decided to attack. His mom grabbed him and started running with the rest of the crowd. He heard gunshots, and his mother fell along with several other people. He saw the blood, and then he started to get hot as tears welled up in his eyes. "Mommy?" He heard footsteps and turned to see one of the villains running towards him. He screamed, and out his mouth came bright green flames.

The villain took a step back. Then he started going towards two girls who were trapped under a fallen bench. Izuku threw his hand in their direction to try and warn them. As he moved his hand, the green fire moved with it. It shot over to the girls and formed a small wall in front of them, protecting them from the villain's bullets.
____

It was impressive, that was for sure. Some footage from the villain attack at the mall was being played in a conference room. It mostly showed a small green haired kid. The kid who appeared to be male breathed green flames and then was able to create a wall out of it. This wall was small, yes, but it also did not go out until the villains were captured. It seems this kid has a very strong and useful quirk. There was a chorus of approval around the room, as it was decided that this kid would be joining the Paragon Program.

Chapter 2: Pyromancer

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It was meant to be a happy day, the day a child develops their quirk. But it didn't feel happy. Izuku sat in a hospital room. He had been sent there after the attack, now an orphan. His father had died before he had been born, and now his mother was gone too. He just sat quietly crying.

“Midoriya Izuku.” He looked up. In front of him was a doctor and a man dressed in a very formal suit. He wiped away his tears. “Y-yes?” He answered. “You will be coming with us.” The man gestured for him to follow, so he did. As they left the hospital, he was led to a black car. “W-whats g-going on?” He tried to ask, but he never really got an answer.

“Do you like heroes?” Izuku looked up at one of the men, who asked the question. “Y-yes.” The men just nooded, so he turned to look out the car window. The car stopped, and he was let out. He found himself at a large building. He looked up at it in wonder. “Come with us. Stay by our side.”

He followed closely as the men took him through the building. He kept up as well as possible, looking around in wonder. Eventually, they stopped at a room. The men opened the door and told him to go in. Inside was a nice-looking room. On a couch was a boy and on another couch opposite him sat a woman. The boy looked around, maybe ten or eleven. He had scruffy, dirty blond hair and bright red wings. The boy turned to look at Izuku as he entered. The woman told Izuku to sit down next to the boy, who seemed to be called Hawks.

“Hawks I would like you to meet Pyromancer. He will be joining you in training.” The woman introduced him to Hawks with a different name, but he knew that she was talking about him. He opened his mouth to say that that was not his name when the woman put up a hand to stop him. “That is now your code name. It is how you will be addressed and introduced.” He gave a nod. “Now here you will be trained to be a hero. Welcome to the Paragon Program.”

_____

“So what is your true name?” Izuku looked up at Hawks. “But Madam President said that Pyromancer was my new name.” Hawks just gave an eye roll. “Yeah but as long as you call me Hawks and I call you Pyromancer around them, they really don't care. I'm Keigo.” Keigo held out his hand for Izuku to shake, which he did. “Izuku.”

“Well Izuku, be ready for several long years of training.” Keigo gave him a thumbs up and a smile.

_____

At least they had gotten some of his things from his home. His new room was larger than his old one. He had a nice bed in one corner, it had a simple white bed sheet and on the end was a bag and a small box labeled Pyromancer. Next to the bed against the wall is a desk. It had a laptop on it as well as a small bookshelf. On the right of the door is a wardrobe. He also was given his own bathroom with a shower. His whole room was opposite Keigo's room.

The people told him he could decorate his room how he wanted, but it had to be neat. He was given a schedule that was put on the back of his door. It was strict, and he was not allowed to be late.

It was going to be a long next few years.

Notes:

Hawks is about 6 or 7 years older than Izuku in canon, in this i have decided to make him 5 years older.

Chapter 3: Nine or so years later

Chapter Text

—----------

“I swear these people are trying to kill me.” Izuku sat at the edge of the training room, sweating and panting. Next to him stood Keigo, who was stretching out his sore body. “Yeah, these training sessions are rough.” Keigo sat down next to him and put an arm over his shoulders. They had grown even closer over the nine years Izuku had been there. The Commission had tried to separate them a few times but evidently kept them together as they always trained better together. Izuku came to see Keigo as an older brother.

Over the five years Izuku had grown out his hair, it now sat just above his shoulders when it was down. He kept it up in a manbun during training, so the Commission let him keep it. Due to the nature of his quirk, his voice sounded gruffer than it should for a fourteen year old.

“Pyromancer and Hawks, your ten minute rest is over.” Izuku let out a loud groan and got up. “Come on, Hawks, let's get back to training.” Keigo rolled his eyes as he too got up. “Yeah, yeah.” He went back to his quirk training, and Izuku went back to his.

_____

“I think I overdid it.” His voice was strained, and his throat hurt. It was something that happened after he over-used his quirk. He sat on Keigo's bed with his laptop on his lap. He was currently doing his online classes. Keigo was at his desk also doing his classes. “You sure sound like you did. You sound like you've chain smoked for years.” Izuku just rolled his eyes at Keigo's teasing.

The Commission trained them for about eight hours a day, and they had to do online education for five. They slept for eight hours and got about one hour to eat meals. This meant they got two hours to themselves. It wasn't a lot, but Keigo and Izuku treated it like it was gold. During this time, the Commission let them do anything they wanted as long as they stayed within the building.

It was a tough schedule to get used to, but Izuku adapted very quickly to it. He had managed to convince the Commission to give him his childhood friend's number so he could contact him. Bakugou had been so happy to see that Izuku was ok. He cried that first facetime was very emotional.

As Izuku finished up his last class and logged off, an incoming call popped up on his laptop. Of course, Bakugou had memorised his schedule. Izuku clicked accept, and Bakugo’s face appeared on the screen.

“Took your time, you damn nerd.” Bakugou was stuffing his face with food as he told Izuku off for being a minute late to answering his call.

“Sorry Kacchan, I had to finish my class.” Izuku was glad his friend was so persistent with keeping contact with him.

“Yeah yeah. How was your torture?” They had come to call Izuku’s training, torture. It was like an inside joke of sorts, and even though he wasn't really meant to tell people how he was trained, Izuku did.

“Hell. I swear these people just want to wear me out.” Izuku laughed slightly.

“Yeah, you sound like a chain smoker.”

“HA. I told you.” Izuku looked up at Keigo. Who was still at his laptop.

“Hey Hawks.” Bakugou called out

“No fair, you guys are ganging up on me.” He was met with some laughter.

Chapter 4: Changes?

Chapter Text

“Pyromancer, you are wanted in Madam President's office.” Izuku looked up from his laptop. There was a man in a suit standing at his door. “Yeah ok, coming now.” He closed his laptop and got up. He neaten himself up and headed up to the office.

He knocked on the door and waited. Once he heard “enter” he opened the door and went in. At the back of the room in front of a large window was a large fancy desk. Behind this desk sat Madam President. She motioned for Izuku to sit down. He followed and sat on one of the chairs that were in front of the desk. “You wanted to see me, ma'am.”

“We have some changes that are happening. Due to Hawks getting his license in a few months, we feel it will be better for you to attend a physical hero school. So you will be attending U.A. next year. Everything has already been arranged, so you won't be taking any tests.” Now he was excited. He gets to go to U.A. the same school Bakugou was trying for. He calmed himself down and asked: “May I ask as to why this has been decided?”

She let out an irritated sigh. “We have figured that it will be better for your training if you were to learn around other heroes in training.” Ah, they have finally realised that rising children in isolation destroys their social abilities. Izuku has seen how Keigo interacted with some heroes that came to the building once. It didn't go well. He was slightly better since he talked to his friend every now and again, but he was still horrible at socializing. Now he could finally make some friends.

_________

“Finally. At least you will get a social life, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to be around people.” Keigo was throwing some of his feathers at a dartboard in his room.

“Yeah, but I have a feeling there is something more to it.” Izuku was on Keigo's bed fidgeting with a dart he had made with his fire. “Hey no fair, you have control over your feathers.”

“Nah, I promise I'm not controlling them. But yeah, it is far too suspicious for them to suddenly want to send you there.” Keigo threw a feather, and it hit a bullseye.

“Bullshit. There is no way your chicken ass could do that.” Izuku threw his dart, and it landed just outside of the bullseye. “Damn it. You're definitely cheating.”

“Your just a sore loser and a lousy shot “ Keigo laughed as Izuku tackled him. “OW. Come on, man, mind the wings.”

“Don’t be a cheater then.” Izuku laughed as he rolled off of Keigo's back, landing on the floor on his back.

“I simply just used what I was given.” Keigo sat back up and playfully kicked at Izuku as he was giggling on the ground.

“What does that even mean?” Izuku was laughing on the floor, slapping away Keigo's feet. Izuku’s phone alarm went off on the bed, causing the two to stop laughing. Izuku got up and walked over to the bed and picked up his phone. “Aw man. Sorry bro, I have to get to my room.”

“Yeah, i also have to get this place tidied up.” Keigo got up off the floor and stretched out his wings.

Izuku nodded and headed out of the room. He crossed the hall to his room and entered. He got himself ready for the night and put on a movie, watching till lights out.

Chapter 5: First day

Chapter Text

“I look like shit.” Izuku stood in front of his mirror wearing his new U.A. uniform. Behind him stood Keigo, who was leaning on his shoulder.

“Come on, you're just upset you have to wear a uniform. This isn't even that bad.” Keigo ruffled up Izuku's hair.

Izuku looked at his now messed up hair and started to neaten it again.“Oh screw you. You get be a hero and dress how you like mister number 6.” Over the months that Keigo had been a licensed hero, he had risen up the ranks, quickly approaching the top three.

Keigo laughed. “Yeah being a free hero is nice. Well, it would be if the Commission got off my back. They are constantly making me do stupid shit for ‘public image’.”

Izuku laughed and pushed Keigo off his shoulder. “Yeah yeah, but what did you expect.” Izuku collected up his stuff, carefully reading over the class schedule he had been given. “This is going to suck. I haven't been to a physical school like ever, and i dont really remember my daycare days.”

“Well sucks to suck.” Keigo playfully punched Izuku's arm.

“Huh. That doesn't even make sense in this context.” Izuku gently pushed at Keigo, who just shrugged. They both turned when there was a knock at the door.

“Pyromancer, you ready?” Izuku just nodded and followed the woman. He waved goodbye to Keigo as he did.

___

Class 1A. Class 1A. Fucking hell this school was big. Izuku walked around the halls trying to find his classroom. As he half ran in the halls he ran into someone, causing the person to fall to the ground

“Oh my, am i so sorry.” He offered a hand to the girl he had bumped into. She gladly took it.

“It's ok. Im Ochaco by the way.” The girl introduced herself and waited for Izuku to do the same.

“O-oh y-y-yeah, u-um i-im I-izuku M-midoriya.” Real smooth izuku, real smooth. He internally cringed at his horrible social skills. “I-im looking for class 1A.” At least that was better.

“Your also im 1A. Letsfind it together.” She started walking down the hall and Izuku followed. It took a bit but they did eventually find the classroom.

Wow these doors are huge. Izuku looked up at the massive door leading into the classroom. Ochaco opened yhe door.

“GET YOUR FEET OFF OF THE DESK.” Wow that is one way to start the day. Izuku walked into the class to see a boy with blue hair and glasses yelling at…. Bakugou.

Izuku froze when he saw Bakugo. Bakugou turned and immediately ran towards him when he saw him. He tackled Izuku into a hug, Izuku stumbling back abit before regaining his balance.

“You fucking bastard. Why didn't you tell me you were in this class.” Bakugou hug Izuku tightly, this being the first time in ten years that they have met in person. Izuku hug him back, the rest of the class were watching silently.

Bakugou broke the hug and stood back. “Im still taller than you.” He teased as he straightened his back showing his full height.

“Come on Kacchan, i will get my growth spirt and i will be taller than you.” He pouted as Bakugou ruffled his hair. “Hey, come on man. It takes forever to get my hair neat.” Bakugou laughed and went back to his seat.

Izuku heard a slight noise by the door and his trained instincts kicked in. He turned and saw a scruffy man in a bright yellow sleeping bag at the door. He just stared in confusion, taking in all information he could see.

The man looked tired, judging by the eyebags he hadn't slept properly. He had clean hair but it was long and messy, obviously didn't care about physical appearance but still practiced personal hygiene. He was unshaven, that made him look like a homeless man. He had dry eyes, must be something to do with his quirk, that paired with the scarf peaking out of the sleeping bag Izuku concluded that this was Eraserhead and most likely his homeroom teacher.

By now the rest of the class had noticed the man and quietened down. The man got up. “It took all of eight minutes for you to settle, that won't work here.” He got out of his bag and walked into the class. “I am Shōta Aizawa and i am your homeroom teacher.” He walked up to Izuku. “You noticed me and it looked like you analyzed me. Tell me what you concluded.”

“well your scruffy demeanor is purposeful as being an underground hero you want to blend into the background as much as possible. And well you are the Eraser hero Eraserhead.” Izuku went into analysis mode immediately as he was trained to do.

Eraserhead raised an eyebrow. “So you do good analysis, though that would be expected from someone who was trained by the Commission.” The rest of the class made some sounds of surprise apon hearing that he was trained by the Commission.

“Anyway, everybody change into your sports clothes and meet me on the feild in ten minutes.”

Chapter 6: A present

Chapter Text

“So you were trained by the Commission.” Izuku looked from his locker at the boy who spoke. Him and all of the boys in his class were in the boy’s change room. The boy who spoke to him was one with red hair, Kirishima, if he remembered correctly.

“A-ah, y-yeah I was.” He once again internally cringed at his horrible social skills. He saw Bakugo also make a face at him. He was so going to be teased later.

“What was it like. It must be amazing to train with proper heroes.” Izuku thought back to all his training. It was not amazing. He remembers all the hours he spent basically being thrown around. It was only recently that they cut down on training and added online classes.

He must have been making a face because Kirishima just nodded and backed off. Izuku went back to changing into his sports uniform. When he removed his shirt, he heard the rest of the boys stop. Then he remembered that he had some pretty nasty scars on his back. They were from some of his earlier training sessions.

He just continued to change, hoping that the others wouldn't ask about them. Once he had finished, he walked out to the field.

“What the Fuck were those.” He sighed as Bakugou came up behind him. He had never told him about the scars, mainly because he know he would have this reaction.

“Just some….ah…rougher training sessions.” He felt awkward telling Bakugou about it as he was told he wasn't allowed to.

“Rougher sessions my ass.” He looked angry but dropped it.

________

“So we will be testing your quirks. The one who scores the lowest will be expelled.” The class looked shocked, but to Izuku it made sense. U.A. was not like a normal school, teachers could basically do anything.

Izuku did well in all the tests, of course there were ones were others had quirks far more suitable. In the end he got in 8th place and the last one was some purple haired kid named Mineta. He was sent home. He saw relief on the girls' faces. He had seen the kid perving on the girls, it was absolutely disgusting. He was also glad he was sent home.

Walking back to the to the changing room, the blue haired kid with glasses come up to him. “You did well on those tests, may I ask your name you haven't told us yet.” Oh right, he was so use to having everyone calling him Pyromancer he forgot that he had to tell new people his name.

“O-oh, r-right it's I-Izuku Midoriya. Y-you c-can just call me Izuku.” Damn he was not going to get better at this anytime soon was he.

“Well its good to meet you Izuku, i am Tenya Iida.” The name sounded familiar.

“Iida, a-as in Tensei Iida. The Ingenium hero?” Izuku had done many lesson on heroes and how he can adjust his methods to work well with them.

“Yes, he's my older brother.” Iida looked proud. He obviously looked up to his brother, it would be expected for a family of heroes.

“Th-thats cool. Must be amazing having a-a brother who you can look up to.”

_______

The first day went well, and by the end of it Izuku found himself exhausted. He was not used to this much social interaction and he was quite drained. He was excited about the next day as his class were finally going to do some hero training. It felt wrong not haveing hours of physical and quirk training, so it was going to take time to adjust. He was definitely going to do some training once he got back, it would hust feel to strange if he didn't.

Leaving the gates, he ran into Iida and Uraraka. “Oh, hey Deku right?” Iida looked confused when she said this. “That is what Bakugou called you.”

Oh yeah, during the quirk tests Bakugou yelled at him for not trying his hardest on one of the tests. He had used the nickname he had given him when they were children.

“O-oh, t-thats a n-nickname h-he gave me wh-when we were kids. M-my name is I-izuku M-midoriya.” He explained to Uraraka, who looked understanding.

“Oh, ok. That makes much more sense.” She apologised, it looked like she was about to say something else but a red feather landed on Izukus head. And the another.

Both Iida and Uraraka looked confused but Izuku just picked them up and gave it a twist.

“Hey!”

From the sky Keigo landed next to Izuku, and grabbed the feather out his hand. “You know that hurts, you little shit.”

Both Iida and Uraraka stared at Hawks. He turned to them. “Hey you must Izuku’s friends.” Izuku rolled his eyes.

“Why are you here, Hawks.” Keigo made a dramatic pose as if he had been insulted.

“What i can vist my little bro after his first day.” Both Iida and Uraraka once again looked shocked. Great he would have to explain.

“M-me and Hawks aren't related, he just sees me as a little brother.” Izuku explained as Keigo ruffled up his hair.

“Yeah, we were both trained by the Commission. Anyway I wanted to catch you before you got picked up. I'm getting my own agency.” Kiego had only been a hero for a few months, just under a year and had already gotten popular enough to start his own agency.

“Congrats, you better give me a pass so I can crash there.” He was definitely going to sleep there as much as he could, the Commission was far to much at times.

“Yeah yeah, I better ditch. I see some other students have spotted me. Oh and here.” Keigo handed Izuku a necklace. It was a simple leather rope with one of his red feathers hanging at the end. The feather had been attached with some wire, shaped into a fancy pattern.

Izuku took it and put it on. “Thanks bro. But why may I ask?” Keigo just shrugged

“Why not. I got the idea from some merch suggestions. And i can know if your ever in danger.” Keigo gave Izuku a pat on the back before taking off again.

Izuku turned back to Iida and Uraraka who were both wide eyed. “S-so anyway. See you both tomorrow.” He waved bye to them and headed out the gates, where one of the Commission's black SUVs had just pulled up.

Chapter 7: Fight trails (I think that's what they are called)

Summary:

Izuku quirk in action

Chapter Text

So today we will be having your first lesson in heroics.” Eraserhead stood in front of the class, he seemed to be annoyed. The class found out why as the door was flung open and through the door came no other than the no. 1 hero All Might.

Ah so that's why the Commission sent him here. The one hero that they had little information on was suddenly teaching at U.A. and they had a hero in training that was the right age to start high school. It was now obvious that he was being a snoop.

He was kicked out of his thoughts by the fangirling that his class started to do once seeing the top hero. Geez did everyone act like this when seeing a hero, well he would probably do the same if he hadn't grown up training with the Commission.

“And with this lesson you will be wearing your hero costumes. You all submitted your designs to the listed company.” As Eraserhead spoke the sides of the wall opened, revealing hero costume suitcases.

Oh yeah, the costume design. He took the suitcase that was handed to him, hopefully the designers made it properly.

______

The costume wasn't exactly what he wanted but it was close enough. The shirt is a black compression top with a heavy duty black jacket over. The jacket has green strips on the sides. In these strips at the top and bottom are black flame silhouettes. He has a heavy duty belt around his waist, black with green highlights. His pants are similar to cargo ones, thick and padded with many pockets and hidden compartments, also black. He has black leather fingerless gloves, mainly for aesthetics. He also has some green glasses, similar to the ones Hawks has. His shoes are some thick combat ones, also black with green soles.

He looked over himself, he probably should have specified what type of green he wanted. He had originally wanted a darker green, but instead he got a neon green.

________

Walking into the arena he got a look at what his classmates costumes looked like. There were all sorts of different styles and colours. But most were not great hero costumes, like come on, heels! You are running around on a battlefield and designing your costume with heels.

No, he must just let them be. They are only starting to learn about heroics and probably have never seen a proper battle. They will figure it out eventually.

_______

“Everybody will be put into teams of two, two teams will pick one hero and one villain. The hero team's goal is to obtain the fake bomb while the villain's is to protect said bomb.” The number one stood in front of everyone explaining the premise of the exercise.

It was simple enough, he was paired with Uraraka and was assigned to the hero role. His team was first and he was up against Bakugou and Iida.

As he walked to their starting point with Urakaka he tried to make chat.

“Um so-so. How do-do you think learning with All Might will be?”

“Oh I think it's wonderful to have him teaching us.”

Izuku nodded and looked down at the map he had been given. He was up against Bakugou, which means he had to fight with those explosions. He had seen some of Bakugou’s quirk when it first developed but it surely has gotten stronger since then, if the quirk assessment test had anything to say. Not to mention that Bakugou had been talking about training it during the few video calls they were allowed to have. Which meant he had to be mindful, and Bakugou would surely want to fight him….

“...ku? Deku?” He snapped back looking at Uraraka. Oh right.

“oh s-sorry” He really needs to control his muttering.

“The test started, come on.” athe test started, oh geez he really wasn't paying attention.

“ok so how about this, you go up to where the bomb is and I will deal with Kacchan.” He saw Uraraka nod and start going up the stairs. He followed after her.

As they reached the second floor, they come faced to face with Bakugou. Izuku nodded to Uraraka who nodded back and continued up the stairs.

“Looks like it's just me and you, Deku.” Bakugou charged forward, Izuku braced himself. As Bakugou was about to fire off an explosion, Izuku grabbed his arm and threw him against the wall. Bakugou looked a bit stunned but quickly regained his composure.

“That the best you got. Come on, use your quirk Deku.” Bakugou got up and charged again, this time using his explosions to fly forward. Izuku took a deep breath, his eyes glowing green as he breathed out his bright green flames. Bakugou smirked and continued charging, throwing and explosion towards Izuku. Seeing the explosion come his way, Izuku threw up his arms his flames following forming a shield. The explosion hit his shield.

Izuku noticed Bakugou coming around the side and moved his shield. Pushing it back. It makes contact with Bakugou, pushing him against the wall. Izuku lowered his flame heat as to not burn Bakugou, but kept it hot enough to maintain the shield form.

“Hey deku, I'm going to need some help here. Iida has removed all objects in the room, I have nothing to use my quirk on.” Uraraka voice chimed in his ear, through the earpiece.

He was about to answer when he gets thrown back by an explosion. He cursed himself for getting distracted and letting Bakugou let off an explosion. Damn the Commission would be furious if he let that happen during training. But he had to remind himself tht he wasn't at the Commission and therefore could get away with that mistake.

He quickly got back onto his feet and breathed out some more fire. Quickly he formed it into a staff and ran towards Bakugou, who was also charging towards him. Bakugou grabbed his arm and swung him around using an explosion to propel him. He flew through the air and just before he hit the wall he used his staff he had made and remade the fire into a pillow, as he hit his flames he slowed down. He got back up and projected his flames towards the charging Bakugou. His flames turned into a rope and wrapped around Bakugou's arms and legs, causing him to fall to the ground.

Izuku quickly got the capture tape and secured it around Bakugou’s wrists.

“Don't be a coward Deku, fight me damn it.” Izuku sighed as he left a captured Bakugou cursing at him. He ran up the stairs and as he got to the top he got hit with a flying Uraraka.

He let out an OOF as he regained his balance and caught Uraraka. He carefully placed her down onto her feet and got into a fighting stance. It appears that Iida had thrown her as she tried to attack.

“Sorry for taking long.” He turned to Uraraka, who gave him a simple nod.

He quickly gave himself some more amo and made his flames into a staff. He turned back to Uraraka.

“I'm going to attack him and you sneak around and capture the bomb.” He moved forward with out seeing her reply. He leaped at Iida who as expected propelled himself with his leg thrusters. Izuku waited till he was close enough before changing his staff into a rope. He ducked under Iida's kick and wrapped his rope around Iida's leg. He swung the rope forward and slammed Iida into the ground.

As he did, the sound that the exercise was over went off. He looked up to see Uraraka on the bomb, hugging it. It was ok for a test but if this was a real situation she would be very much in danger if she did that. No stop it. Izuku had to mentally hit himself for starting to judge and critically analyze the situation. He offered out his hand to Iida, who gladly took it.

“Your skill is quite amazing, Midoriya. Although I should have expected that since you were trained by the Heroes Commission.” Iida basically praised Izuku’s skill as they walked to the rest of the class. Bakugou on the other hand looked pissed, he kept grumbling about how Izuku was a coward for running away from the fight.

In all they did well, there weren't any major injuries, besides the few bruises and slight burns Izuku gave Bakugou and Iida. So the rest of his classmates did their exercises, Izuku watched intently as his classmates worked through. The range of quirks was impressive and he can see how they will definitely came in handy during hero work. Although there was obvious room for improvement but that is why they were at U.A afterall.

“So?”

Izuku looked up, confused. He was sitting in Madam President's office looking over some assignments.

“So what?”

“How is U.A, anything to report on it.”

Oh yeah, he forgot that he was being used as a snitch. He let out a mental sigh, this was going to be a long school year.

“It was ok. Although I'm not too sure as to why they let All Might teach there, from what I can see he has no teaching experience.”

Izuku could see Madam President's eyes sparkle with some sort of weird need for more information. Geez were these people going to lay off him.

“Is that so? Well maybe there's a different reason as to why he is there.”

Izuku knew based on the way that she said that Madam President wanted him to get more information, he was going to but she could just ask instead of playing these weird mind games.

“You are dismissed, Pyromancer.”

Izuku nodded and quickly left the room. Once back in his room, he got to work on his homework and the assignment that Madam President wanted him to do. It wasn't a lot of work but he was still a bit tired afterwards, the long day of social interaction had caught up to him.

The next morning, he woke up to his alarm like normal. He got himself cleaned up and got his school uniform out. He stopped at the mirror and looked in. Looking at his bare body, he could clearly see his scars.

He gently touched one that ran across his shoulder. He remembered getting it, getting all of them.
_____

“PYROMANCER!!”

He painfully sat up, choking back a sob as Keigo ran over to him. He touched his shoulder, feeling the wetness of the blood.

He was dragged to the med station and quickly patched up, then sent right back into the training room.

The trainer had put him and Keigo against each other. While fighting, Izuku misstepped and Keigo's feather sliced through his shoulder. The wound was deep and took some time for the doctor's healing quirk to fix.

That night he wasn't given dessert or any free time, it was a punishment for messing up. The remainder, a thin scar along his shoulder.
_

Jumping from obstacle to obstacle, he was quick. He knew his body was small and thin which allowed him to move quickly and make sharp and sudden turns.

He was up against some robots, ones that the Commission had made for his training.

As he maneuvered through the training room that had been set up to mimic a dense city, the robots followed. He turned to see how far they were and saw that one had a weapon.

This caused him to lose his footing. He was told that the robots wouldn't have any weapons. He felt the pain as he was hit in the back. He managed to tuck and roll as he hit the ground.

The training session was called off as he lost consciousness.

When he woke, he was in the med bay. His back was heavily scarred and he was in trouble. He had messed up again.

This time he wasn't allowed to spend time with Keigo besides training for a week.
___

Unlike Keigo, he kept his scars. He absolutely refused to have any surgeries to have them removed. Keigo was insecure, Izuku knew that, that's why he always got scars fixed whenever they happened, stretch marks removed as they appeared, acne and pimples fixed as they showed, used all sorts of skin products to keep his appearance perfect and young.

It was because of the Commission, how they talked about heroes needing to be perfect, being greater then life, being the best and to Keigo that translated into physical appearance as well.
_______

“Hey Izuku.”

He looked up from his thoughts, Iida was walking over to him.

“Oh, hey Iida.”

“You ok? You seem a little distant.”

“Oh don't worry about it. Just thinking.”

It wasn't technically a lie, but he didn't want to worry his classmate with his issues. He saw Iida nod and he turned and looked out the bus window.

Once the bus stopped, everyone filed out. The USJ, a massive training facility for rescue. Izuku had been there before, the place was good for more serious rescue training.

Standing at the front was the rescue hero Thirteen. Once everyone walked into the building, Thirteen started to explain how quirks can be dangerous. Izuku had heard it all before but listened anyway.

Bakugou was silently complaining about how boring it was and Izuku elbowed him in the ribs to shut him up.

Suddenly a black mist formed over the fountain. That wasn't part of the training.

Izuku and Aizawa got into fighting positions instantly as a bunch of Villains stepped out of the mist. The other students started to back up.

“Everyone stay back, these are real villains.”

Izuku rolled his eyes, like hell he's going to stay out of it. Aizawa looked at him and nodded.

“You have experience so you can fight but you stay at the backlines.”

Izuku nodded. He wasn't experienced enough to properly fight, nor did he have a licence so he was just last defense.

Aizawa started fight the villains as more figures stepped through the mist. One was a scrawny guy that had grey hands over his body, another was a man in smart clothing and made of black mist, so was the one making the mist portals and the last one was a massive…creature.

The thing had black skin, bulging eyes and it's brain exposed. Definitely not human, or not anymore.

Izuku knew this wasn't right, there were too many villains and only two licensed heroes. One being a rescue hero and one who was best with one on one combat. He reach down and grabbed the red feather that hung from his necklace. He gave it light squeezes and pulls, slowly getting a Morse code sentence out.

He just hoped Keigo was right about being able to feel each of his feathers.
__

It wasn't looking good. Several of his classmates had been portaled across the facility, Thirteen was down and Aizawa was getting exhausted. Izuku was helping as best he could.

He used his fire to make shields and walls to help Aizawa. Occasionally roping together some villains for the underground hero to knock out.

The scrawny hand man seemed to be getting upset. He pointed to Aizawa and the large creature attacked him. Izuku tired to stop it but it was far too strong and broke through his fire.

Aizawa was on the floor when the doors broke open and the teachers of U.A walked in. Standing in front is All Might. The scrawny hand man seemed to be excited with that and the creature, which appeared to be called nomu, went to attack the number one.

While All Might fought the nomu thing, the other teachers went around helping the students and taking down the villains. Izuku got up and helped Aizawa to his feet and away from the fighting.

As he got out of the facility, he saw the place was swarmed with police and medical professionals, who were looking over the students. Izuku gor Aizawa to one of these professionals and then walked up to one of the officers. A man he recognized as Tsukauchi Naomasa, a detective.

“Detective Naomasa.”

The detective looked over at him and walked over.

“Hey kid, you must be Midoriya. Hawks said you tow go way back.”

“Yes sir. I'm the one who sent the message, and I'm glad that it got through to Hawks.”

“Yes, we are glad too. You should go get checked up, you're bleeding abit.”

The detective tapped the side of his head and Izuku touch his with his hand. Pulling it away he saw a bit of blood. He nodded at the detective and walked over to one of the medical people to get patched up.

Chapter 9: The festival

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

It was all over the news, a villain group going by The League of Villains had attacked the famous school of U.A. Izuku had to basically fight his way through a crowd of people just to get into the school the week after the incident. He could see why Keigo always talked about how much he hated the Press at times.

Walking into his homeroom, he was both surprised and impressed that Eraserhead was there, wrapped up in bandages like an off-brand mummy. He was even more surprised when the class was informed that the sports festival was still on, apparently, it was to show that U.A was in control and could protect their students.

Izuku never liked the idea of the sports festival. Having a large event where students publicly show off their quirks was stupid. Not only was it available for anyone to watch, it was also live-streamed, not just over the country but all over the world. This meant that villains could easily see what the future heroes' quirks, strengths and weaknesses are.

Now what would be a better idea was to have a closed event, only hero agencies and close family allowed, then any recordings could be sent to hero agencies that couldn't make it. This would allow the main point of the sports festivals still there without the risks of the public showing.

But it would never be like that, as U.A was too high in pleasing the public to do that.
________

He hit the wall, and slid down to the floor groaning in pain. Keigo walked up to him and offered his hand. Izuku took it and Keigo helped him up onto his feet.

“You're a little rusty, huh?” Keigo was helping him train for the sports festival, and to be fair he hadn't been training as much as he used to. All the new school work and trying to be a bit more social left little time to do his old training schedule.

“Yeah. But that's why I asked for your help.” Izuku stretched out his arms, pulling his flames into a sword shape.

“Yeah yeah. Now let's see how good your hand to hand is.” Keigo pulled out one of his larger feathers, sharpening it into a sword.

Izuku grinned and they started to fight. Keigo used his wings to his advantage and was flying around while Izuku used his flames to make himself platforms for him to jump around on. Keigo used his feathers to try and distract Izuku and disturb his fire.

In the end Izuku, slipped up and missed one of Keigo’s feathers that snuck up behind him and pinned him to the wall. Kiego walked up to him, pulling his feather away, allowing Izuku to slide down to the floor.

“A little slow there, Izuku. That trick normally doesn't get you.” Keigo once again helped Izuku up onto his feet.

“Yeah. I guess school has made me a little slow.” Izuku rubbed his shoulder where Keigo’s feather grazed his shoulder.

“Come, let's go get some lunch. I’ll pay.” Izuku nodded and followed Keigo out of the training room.
___

Izuku and Keigo sat in a small restaurant, Keigo wearing a jacket over his wings and a hat to try to hide his most recognizable features so that the public would disturb their lunch. It was one of the down sides to being a high ranking hero.

Izuku just ordered a simple ramen dish while Keigo got some onigiri.

“So this sports festival.” Izuku looked up from his food at Keigo.

“What about it?”

“Well it's a big thing and I’m pretty sure the commission wants you to present them well.” Izuku rolled his eyes. Keigo was right though, the commission had told him he needed to get first place to make them look good.

“Yeah. They want me to get first.” Keigo looked up at him, taking a bite out of his onigiri.

“And? Are you?”

“Nah, probably not. But I will definitely try.” Keigo nodded and finished up his food, he then stood up and walked inside to pay the bill.

Izuku finished up his food and stood up. Just as he did, Keigo ran out of the restaurant, grabbed him and took off flying. Behind him were several women who were screaming after him. Izuku held onto Keigo until he was set down on a rooftop.

“Sorry about that. Some fans recognize me.” Izuku nodded, he knew that fans could get difficult at times.

“Anyway. Do you need some help down?” Izuku shook his head, he knew where he was and the roof had a roof access. Keigo nodded and took off, leaving Izuku alone on the roof.
________

“And now we will have the highest scoring student in the entrance, Bakugo Katsuki, who will be giving the first speech. Then we have, Midoriya Izuku, a student from the Hero Public Safety Commision who will give a speech afterwards”

Izuku looked up surprised at Midnight. Him and the rest of the first years stood in the middle of the sports festival stadium. He knew Bakugo was going to be giving a speech as he had placed first in the entrance exams but he didn’t know he was going to give one. But he shouldn’t be that surprised, the Commision always took any chance of showing off.

Izuku watched as Bakugo walked up to the small makeshift stage and up to the microphone.

“I just want to say. I’m going to win.” Izuku sighed, of course he would say that.

As Bakugo walked off the stage, the other students booed and yelled at him. Izuku once again sighed and then walked up onto the stage.

“Well you heard him, he’s going to win. Festival over, let's all go home.” IZuku's little joke got the crowd laughing a bit. That was good, Keigo had told him to use comedy to loosen up crowds.

“Anyway. I just want to say that, that type of attitude is exactly what everyone participating should have. Yes, only one person will have the number one place, but everyone here will win in their own way. So let's all do our best and have fun, it is a festival after all.” The crowd and the students all cheered as he walked off the stage. He may not be good at social interaction but all that training for public on the spot speeches did him good.

The first event was an obstacle course. It sounded simple but Izuku knew that U.A was far from simple.

He noticed the first obstacle straight away, the starting corridor was far too thin. With the amount of students that were participating, the corridor would get congested as soon as the race started. And as the starting horn sounded, he saw he was right.

All the students were fighting to get out of the corridor. Some of his classmates managed to get through using their quirks. He activated some of his fire into a platform and flew above the crowd. Getting through the corridor, he saw the next obstacle, massive robots.

It seemed that Todoroki had froze the robots but in a way that caused them to fall over. He dodged all the falling debris, knocking a few out the way so they wouldn't hit the other students. He continued forward, making more flames to make his platform larger. He urged his platform of flames to go faster.

The next obstacle was a pitfall. This was easy for him as he just flew over with his flame platform. Coming up to the next obstacle, his platform disappeared as Todoroki threw some ice at him. The sudden ice caused Izuku to lose focus and drop as his flames disappeared.

He quickly got up and continued running. The next obstacle was a minefield. This was good. Izuku remembers all his Commision training in manoeuvring a dangerous area. He quickly scanned the field. He was able to see where all the mines were, with there being a small mound of dirt where all the mines were.

He made a mental map of the mines and the field. Then he ran through, he was able to get through the field without setting off a single mine. He felt proud of himself, normally he set off one or two during training. He had to slow down during the final sprint, Bakugo and Todoroki were ahead of him and he could see that it was going to be a close one. He didn't want to come first as he figured that U.A would put a high cost on first place in the next event.

But then he remembered what Madam President had told him. That he had to get first to make the Commision look good. So he went for it, summoning flames and using them to boost himself forward. He passed the finish line in first, Bakugo in second and Todorki in third.
___

The next event was a cavalry battle. And as always he was right, being first he was given ten million points. It meant that he was made the biggest target, which in turn would make it harder to form a team.

Luckily from him, Bakugou walked up to him and grabbed his arm pulling him to the side.

“We are teaming up, Deku.” Izuku just nodded and just let his friend drag him.

Bakugou walked up to two of their classmates, Izuku recognized them as Sero and Kirishima. Bakugou then demanded them to be a part of their team. Somehow Bakugou’s way of asking worked and the two joined the team.

As the Event started, all the other teams went after them. Izuku was at the bottom with Sero and Kirishima with Bakugou at the top. Izuku used his flames to make a barrier around them, stopping all the other teams from getting close enough to steal any of their points.

The flames worked until Todoroki used his ice to break through the flames. As he got close enough, Bakugou used his explosions to get him away. It worked and Todoroki backed away.

After that Izuku called his fire again and made a barrier around Todoroki’s team and physically pushed them away. They just had to last the remaining minutes without any team taking their points.

The rest of the cavalry battle was mostly the same. Izuku kept up a flame wall around them and anyone who got through was pushed away with Bakugou’s explosions. By the end of the battle, his team was in first place with all their points. Izuku was happy, it meant he was able to go onto the next round and hopefully win this whole stupid festival.

Everyone was given a break to eat and rest before the final event. As Izuku was walking down the halls he saw someone very familiar.

“Keigo!?”

Keigo walked up to him, ruffling up his hair.

“Hey little bro. Thought I would stop by and say hello.”

“Of course you did. You probably wanted an excuse to get away from paperwork.” Izuku said sarcastically, playfully poking at Keigo’s chest.

“Okay, okay. You got me.” Keigo put up his hands in mock surrender.

“Well nice chat, little bro but I need to fly. Didn't exactly get permission to be down here.” Izuku rolled his eyes as Keigo walked away. Of course he didn’t.

Izuku smiled as Keigo walked out of sight, reaching up and feeling the feather that hung from his necklace. He continued down into the hall and into the lunch room where the other students were hanging out, eating and chatting.
_______

He was up against a kid named Shinso. The guy had purple hair and looked like he needed a serious nap. Izuku had seen the guy throughout the events, at every turn it seemed people were just doing as he asked, but looked slightly absent mentally while doing it. So the guy must have some mind control quirk of sorts. It was a powerful and very handy quirk, being able to stop a fight without causing damage would be a massive hero status. But he didnt know how the guy activated his quirk, so he had to be careful.

Izuku stepped onto the field same as Shinso. Midnight explained the rules and called the start of the fight. As he stepped forward Shinso spoke.

“So you trained with the Commision? What’s it like being naturally gifted with the perfect quirk?” Izuku was slightly confused. Why was this kid asking questions during a fight? Unless that is how he activated his quirk.

Izuku didn’t respond, he didn't want to give his opponent the chance to use his quirk.

“Oh? Not going to answer me? Are you too high and mighty to even talk to me?” Izuku just continued forward, making his fire into a long rope which he then used to restrain Shinso.

“You probably had a wonderful life, huh? Living in luxury and never having to work for anything.” Izuku snapped. He doesn’t know why, but just that, that implication that he was some spoiled rich kid who never worked got to him.

All the memories of how hard he was forced to work, to train, every single day. How many times he was pushed around and thrown down and this kid just called him a spoiled brat.

“I Worked harder than anyone h…” And he was gone. His body was no longer under his control. So it was a mind control quirk and one that was activated by verbal response.

Before he knew it, he was out of the ring. The horn sounded and the mind control snapped. He looked down and realised what had happened. He had lost and didn't even make it past the first round.

Chapter Text

“YOU LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND TO A KID FROM GENERAL STUDIES!” Izuku tried not to look Madam President in the eyes as she yelled at him. He had lost. Lost to a kid who wasn't even in the hero course.

Izuku just nodded as Madam President continued to yell at him. He just stood there and took it all.

Once she had calmed down, he was told that he was no longer allowed to hang out with his classmates after school and he was to do training after his homework until his scheduled eating time. His punishment for failing. His punishment for letting down the Commission.
___________

“PYRO!”

Izuku looked up at Keigo who stood by the open window, wings out. He was dressed completely in black, his mouth and eyes covered.

“Guards. We need to leave now.”

Izuku nodded and stood up. He looked down at the body, the man he had just killed. He had grey hair, which was slicked back, an expensive dark suit and matching expensive jewelry. The front of his suit was stained with his blood, the stab through his back and though his heart caused his once white dress shirt to now be a dark crimson.

Izuku looked down. His hands were shaking, the blade he had used to kill the man fell onto the floor. Blood. Blood on his hands, blood that he had caused. But it was for a greater cause, it was for the Commission. It was for the Commission.

Izuku jolted awake, breathing heavily. He had to take deep breaths, had to hold himself to stop himself from going into a panic attack. Once he had calmed himself down, he climbed out his bed and walked over to his bathroom. He splashed some cold water onto his face and downed a glass as well.

Looking in the mirror, he could see that he was a mess. His eyes were glowing green, a bit of smoke coming out his nose as his body was causing his quirk to be active in his panic. His hair was a mess, damp with sweat. He took a deep breath, splashing more water onto his face. He walked back into his room and sat down on his bed.

It was just a nightmare, well more of a memory. A memory of the first time he accompanied Keigo on a mission. The Commission said that there were some people that were causing too many problems but couldn’t be arrested so they had to die.

He wanted to urge but he couldn’t. It was for the greater cause, it was for the people of Japan, so he did it. And he would do it several more times, it only stopped once he started at U.A.

He looked down at his hands again, they were clean obviously but he could see them, the stains. The stains of the people he had killed to protect the people of Japan.

Chapter 11: Hosu and tests

Summary:

no angst ... for now >:)

Chapter Text

School didn’t get better. The whole sports festival was so that they could do internships but he was looking at the four agencies that had decided to request him.

In the end, he went with an agency that was based in Hosu. It was a reasonably known hero, who Keigo had told him would be quite good for him to do his internship.

At the train station, he noticed that Iida was going on the same train as he was. He had noticed that Iida had been acting differently, it wasn't that noticeable but for him and his highly trained eye, it was.

He knows that Iida’s brother, Ingenium, had been attacked by the hero killer, Stain. Something like that would be quite hard on anyone.

Izuku walked up to Iida as they boarded the train.

“Hey, you also interning in Hosu?”

“Yeah.”

“Hey, just so you know. If you ever need to get something off your chest, I’m here.”

Iida nodded and moved to sit down. Izuku let him, not wanting to force the guy to let out his feelings. He had offered help and would be there if Iida asked for it.
_______

The first day of his internship was pretty much what he expected from an internship. He was shown the basics of being a hero. It was quite simple, mostly since he had already learnt it all in the commission.

He learnt more about social interaction as a hero, which was very useful for his non-existent social skills. He learnt how to handle dealing with crowds and press, which was also very useful to watch and learn as he never really touched on that in the commission.

It was the second day that was the most interesting.

It was late afternoon, Dew the hero he was interning under, was leading him through the city. They were about to turn around and head back to the agency when there was an explosion in the far distance.

Over Dew’s radio came a call for help, so the hero told Izuku to head back to the agency and then ran towards the explosion. Izuku started to head back, but as he was he saw his classmate, Iida run into an alley.

He ran after him, scaling one of the walls and traveling over the rooftops. He came to the alley that Iida went into, looking down he saw that the hero killer, Stain, was there.

So Iida did have something going on.Izuku watched as Iida foolishly tried to attack the villain and then watched as he got pinned to the floor. Izuku made some flames and shaped it into a spear.

As Stain started monologing about how bad most heroes are, Izuku aimed his spear. He threw it and just before it hit the villain, he reshaped it into a rope. He willed his flames to wrap around the villain and pulled.

Stain suddenly found himself in the air, his arms pinned by ropes made of green flames. Izuku jumped down, going into hero mode and started to look over the hero who was slumped against the wall.

The hero was alive but had some serious wounds. Izuku got out his small hidden medkit and started to block up the wound to stop the bleeding. All while he was doing this, Stain was watching. He started to say how much better of a hero Izuku was, prioritising the injured rather than the villain.

Izuku ignored him and just moved onto Iida, who was telling him to leave. Izuku ignored him as well and patched up his wounds. After making sure both Iida and Native wouldn’t bleed to death, Izuku looked up at Stain. He lowered the temperature of his flames slightly as he noticed that they were getting a bit too hot.

Izuku then pulled out his phone and sent his location to Dew, telling her what had happened and to send support and medical professionals. Now he just needed to make sure that Stain didn't get out and that Iida and Native didn't bleed out.
_______

Izuku walked into the room where Iida was. He had quite a nasty cut on his shoulder so had needed medical attention. Izuku was glad to see that Iida was sitting on his hospital bed, his arm bandaged.

Iida looked up as Izuku walked in. Izuku walked up to the bed and sat down next to Iida.

Izuku remembered that the heroes had arrived and took Stain. There were news reporters, as usual, and they caught Stains' rant as he was taken by the heroes.

“You false heroes…I will make this right…These streets must run with the blood of the hypocrites! Hero…I will reclaim this world! There are only two, two heroes I will let kill me. ALL MIGHT and him, are the only ones worthy.”

Stain had managed to point to Izuku at the last part, but Izuku himself wasn't paying attention. He was too busy making sure Iida and Native got into an ambulance and then was talking to the cops about what happened.

Izuku was glad that neither Iida nor Native were badly hurt. He had stayed as long as could with Iida but eventually had to head back to Dew’s agency.
_______

By the time they were all back from their hero studies, everyone had heard how Izuku had stopped the hero killer. The HPSC had made sure that it was his name that made it to the news, needed that public image.

Izuku was crowded as soon as he entered the classroom, bombarded with questions. Bakugou pushed his way through and started to yell at him.

“Deku you bastard, why did you get more action in a low level agency then i did.” Izuku just shrugged and walked over to his seat.

The rest of the month went well. He was ungrounded by the Commission and caught up on his studies. Then the practical tests came up.

He had heard that they were going to be up against robots and everyone seemed to relax. But he knew that was a bad idea, letting down your guard would get you killed on the battlefield. That was a lesson that the Commission taught him very well.

And what do you know? He was right. They weren’t up against robots but instead the teachers. The principal, who had been in Eraserhead’s scarf, explained that the teachers had special wrist and ankle brackets that would slow them down and so they wouldn’t be able to use their full force on the students.

Izuku was glad, because there was no way a bunch of first graders could beat the teachers, well he probably could.

He was paired up with Bakugou and was put up against All Might, who just had to make an appearance by landing in front of everyone.

Just his luck. He was put up against the number one and paired with Bakugou. He had no issues with Bakugou but the guy was difficult to work with, always wanting his own way and never listening to others opinions.

He sat next to Bakugou as they headed to their test sight. He was drinking some chilli extract much to the horror of both Bakugou and All Might. He turned to see them just staring at him with absolute sock, disgust and worry plastered on their faces.

“What?”

“Deku. That is straight ghost pepper extract.”

“Well, yeah. The capsaicin in the chili helps with my fire.”

Both Bakugou and All Might seemed surprised, All Might looked away but Bakugou still stared at him like he was crazy. Izuku just stuck his tongue out at him and continued to drink his extract.

Once at the site, All Might got off first and headed to the center of the city grounds.

Izuku started to do some stretches, warming up his legs and arms for the heavy running and throwing he was about to do. Bakugou was also doing some stretches, warming up his arms and getting his braces on. Izuku still didn’t fully understand why he needed suck massive braces, they were impractical, heavy and just got in the way. But he kept quiet, it was Bakugou’s design choice not his.

After a few minutes, the start horn sounded and him and Bakugou headed into the city, Bakugou immediately grabbed Izuku.

“Ok, listen here Deku. I’m going to fight All Might, you stay back and be back up. And don’t you even think about going for that exit.”

Izuku nodded and let Bakugou go ahead to find All Might. As Bakugou was about to turn a corner a massive shockwave ran through the city, blowing out all the windows.

Izuku made himself a platform of flames and headed up to the rooftops while Bakugou used his explosions to fly towards the center of the city. Izuku jumped from rooftop to rooftop, tracking Bakugou’s movement as he flew through the city.

After a bit, they reached All Might. Bakugou headed straight in for an attack while Izuku stayed back, watching over the scene. All Might was standing on the ground, blocking each one of Bakugou’s attacks.

As Bakugou threw explosion after explosion, Izuku made some fire. He shaped it into a bow. He ran over the rooftop he was on and got to an angle behind All Might. While the Hero was distracted by Bakugou’s explosion, Izuku pulled back his bow and made some arrows. He aimed at All Might and fired.

His arrow turned into a bola and restrained All Might, allowing Bakugou to land an explosion. Izuku quickly moved to another rooftop to avoid detection. Firing another bola arrow. He continued this until All Might managed to hit Bakugou, the punch throwing Bakugou back to the entrance.

Izuku fled. He was only there to assist Bakugou but now he was getting him and Bakugou over the exit line and passing the test. He made himself a flame platform and flew to the exit. He found Bakugou unconscious near the bus.

As he flew by, Izuku made a rope and grabbed Bakugou. He flew over the exit and the end of the test sounded. Thank goodness, he was starting to worry that they were running out of time.

He carried Bakugou to the med station and allowed Recovery Girl to look him over for any injuries which he only had a few bruises and scrapes. Now that he and Bakugou had passed the test, he would be going to the training camp.

It seemed that everyone had passed, well most at least. Izuku watched as four of his classmates got told that they were going to the camp but had to do extra classes as they had failed. He was just glad that he had passed with a mark that the Commission was satisfied with. He was still on thin ice from the sports festival.

During the short break before the actual camp, he kept getting a lot of messages from his classmates. All of them wanted to hang out with him, but the Commission was insistent that he continued his training.

“Pyromancer! Watch your footing.”
Izuku rolled his eyes as his trainer shouted at him. He was currently doing a very intense parkour exercise. Most of the platforms were either moving or had some sort of trick to them. He had landed slightly wrong on a platform covered in grease which caused him to be yelled at.

He took a deep breath and blew out some flames, shaping them into a hook. He jumped to the next platform, hooking it and using his body weight to swing himself to the finish. A horn sounded to signify that he had finished, to which he let out a long groan. As the room shifted to its normal empty state, Izuku climbed down and walked over to his trainer.

“Madam. May I please have the afternoon off.”
His request was met with a glare.
“And what makes you think you deserve it? You nearly failed this exercise.”
Izuku nodded, trying to think of an excuse.
“Well…well my classmates are going to the shop to get necessities for the camp and I thought maybe I could go as well. You know, so I can be properly prepared for the camp.”
He looked up at his trainer, hoping she would buy his excuse.
“No. We have already gotten you everything you will need. Now go do target practice. Your shot is getting lazy.”
Izuku had to hold back the urge to stick his tongue out at his trainer, instead just nodding and walking off to the target range. He let out a huff as he started up the range, mumbling insults under his breath as he blew some flames and shaped up his bow and arrows. The targets moved in rows, he hit the first two, missed the third and hit all the others. The light at the top of the range flashed red and the targets started to move again. He let out an annoyed groan and got his bow ready again. His mind wondering to his friends and the fun they were probably having.
_____

He lay in his room, staring up at the ceiling in pain. His trainer had made him continue target practice for two hours, now his throat felt like it was burning, his arms felt like lead and his body was just exhausted. He felt his eyes finally starting to get heavy when his phone vibrated with a new message. With a groan, he rolled to the side and grabbed his phone. The message was from his class group chat. He sat up, now fully awake, as he read the message.

Ochaco had been approached by Shigaraki while at the mall. Izuku remembers the villain and immediately started to think the worst had happened. Luckily another message came through, explaining that she was fine but a little shaken up and was talking to police. Izuku let out a breath, wincing at the pain from his throat as he did. Setting his phone down, Izuku got up and walked into his bathroom. He quickly got himself a glass of water, downed it and then walked back out. He lay down in bed, going back to staring at his ceiling waiting for sleep to drag him into his usual nightmares.
______

It was dark, sirens in the distance getting louder. Izuku ran behind Keigo. His arm hurt, his legs hurt, but he had to continue. They were in full black again, it was always the full black. They had to stay in the shadows, stay out of sight. The woman that they were chasing stopped, a dead end. Him and Keigo stopped as well, slowly walking up to her. She looked at them, pleaded, begged, for them to spare her. Izuku wanted to… wanted to tell her that she could go. But the Commission wanted, needed, her dead. Izuku had to look away as Keigo slit her throat. Has to remind himself that it was for the greater cause.

The woman looked up at Izuku, which made him freeze. Then she started to laugh. It wasn't a laugh that matched her. It was far too grainy and masculine. Then he was back in the USJ. Shigaraki stood in front of him, laughing. The villain walked forward, hand out. Izuku tried to walk away but found that he couldn't. Then Shigaraki pressed his hand onto his chest.

Izuku bolted up, gasping for air. He was shaking. It was just another nightmare. He lay back down, staring up at his ceiling, that same empty white ceiling that he saw every day. It was just another nightmare.
________

“OI DEKU!”
Izuku shook himself from his disassociation, looking at Bakugou.
“Hm? Sorry Kacchan.”
The ride to the camp was long, and everyone was so loud that Izuku had found himself staring out into nothing. Izuku then noticed that he was the only one on the bus beside Bakugou. He them realized that the bus had stopped and everyone had gotten off. He slowly stood up and walked off with Bakugou.
“Sorry, Kacchan. I got lost in thought there.”
Bakugou just rolled his eyes, giving him a slight slap over the head.
“Damn right you did, nerd. Now come on, their all waiting for you.”

Everyone was stood on an outlook, which overlooked a large forest. Izuku could see that their teacher and two others were stood infront of the class. As he got closer, he recognized the two as part of the Wild Wild Pussycats. They started to explain what was going to happen.

They were all going to walk to the camp. But Izuku could tell that it wouldn't be that easy. The Pussycats had told them that they could use their quirks, meaning that they would make sure that they used them from second one.

Underneath him, the ground shook. And Izuku mentally congratulated himself for being correct once again. Him and his class landed infront of the forest. Izuku was the first on his feet, well more like he was the only one to have landed on his feet. In the distance, he could make out the sounds of heavy footsteps. Looks like the camp had just started.

Chapter Text

The “walk” to the camp was a battlefield, and most of his class, him included, were exhausted. He had used his quirk far more than he had expected, helping his classmates defeat the dirt monsters that they had to battle.

He sat in the large room that was being used by all the boys in his class as their “bedroom” of sorts. He was tired and just wanted to sleep, but he needed to unpack and go eat before he could do that. He sighed and got up, grabbing his bags and opened the largest one. Inside was his clothes, so he closed it back up and put it to the side. The second bag had a small box on top with a note taped to it.
“Remember what you need to do”
He opened the box and saw the burner phone that the Commission had packed for him, for the mission they assigned him to do.
__________

[FLASHBACK]
__________

Izuku looked up at the old abandoned looking building, then down at the address that had been hastily squribbled onto a piece of paper. This couldn't possibly be the right place. He took a deep breath and walked up to the building.

Walking into the building, he was surprised that it didn't looked that bad. It still looked run down, but not fully abandoned run down. There were a few crusty couches in front of an old TV, and a bar that looked cleaner the whole room. Sitting at the bar was Him, Shigaraki Tomura. Izuku had to stop himself from wussing out and leaving. It didn't help when the mist man turned and looked at him. He couldn't back out now. He took a few steps forward.
“Shigaraki Tomura, I want to join the League of Villains.”
_________

[END OF FLASHBACK]
__________.

He looked at the phone in his hand. He wasn't really going to do this, Right? The Commission said that they needed to cut off the threat of the League of Villains from its root, so he needed to be a spy. He shakily typed out the location of the camp. It felt wrong to give the villains the location of where his friends were. It felt like he was a traitor. No, it was what the Commission said needed to be done to find and eliminate the root of the League. The Commission wouldn't lie to him…right? They existed to protect Japan and its citizens, so he needed to do this to protect everyone. So he took a deep breath and sent Shigaraki the location of the camp.
