Title is "Little Fairy in the Woods" in Latin.

Chapter 1: one

Chapter Text

Dream hid behind a bush as he saw a person run past his home. It looked like a human, but the male was wearing a mushroom hat, and some mushrooms growing out of his shoulders. He hummed quietly, carefully flying to hide behind a tree. He just wanted to get a closer look, and it's not like the elder was there to scold him for doing so. None of them were.

The fairy narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out why this mushroom person was so adamant on running away. Nothing was chasing him. He hummed as the person ran out of his eye line, floating down to sit on the lowest tree branch.

It had been almost three years since he saw a human-like person. The last time was when the rest of the fairies had left him. He had accidentally drawn a person to their village, for the second time that year, and the elder had exiled him, not allowing the younger fairy to follow them. He had tried to defend himself, because the person that was following him, well he wasn't sure if it was even a person. She was a tall woman, who wore a dark dress and a large hat that had a thin veil that hung down and covered her face. He hadn't caught her name.

He huffed quietly at the memory, hating thinking about the fairies that he used to consider his family. He dropped his chin into his hand, already slightly annoyed with himself that he didn't just fly up to the mushroom person and start to have a conversation with him. There was nothing holding him back except himself. It was almost embarrassing.

A fox ran up to him, dropping a piece of wheat down in front of him. The fairy smiled with a quiet gasp, flying down to pick it up. It was heavy for him, and a little soggy from the fox's drool, but that didn't matter much to him. He had been running out of food, and was too scared to fly to the nearby village, so the fox graciously ran to get a piece of wheat so he could farm. He patted the fox's head, "Thank you so much, friend!" He said, giggling slightly.

He flew back to his house, stumbling slightly because of the piece of wheat, then he sat down, merging his wings back onto his back and arms. He began picking the seeds of the wheat, putting them in the basket next to him. He had woven it out of blades of grass a couple months ago, and it seemed to be extremely effective with carrying seeds.

His hands started to shake as he tried to pick seeds, and his entire body began to burn. He cried out softly, dropping the piece of wheat to try to distract himself from the pain. It's what happened when a fairy didn't receive enough attention or love. They weren't supposed to be alone, they weren't supposed to be abandoned. He collapsed onto his side, continuing to cry as his mind became foggy and his eyes drooped shut.

Sapnap groaned, hitting the side of his compass a couple times. He had dropped it down a mountain when he was chasing after George, and the thing hadn't been working since. He had never been so bad at a manhunt, but he had just been off his game all day. He was just about to pull his communicator out of his pocket and message George that he was surrendering and giving up the win to him when he saw a faint figure on a mushroom.

He slowly walked over to it, kneeling down in front of it to try to see what it was. The blaze hybrid's eyes widened slightly and he gasped, "Holy shit!"

He pulled a jar out of his inventory, and carefully scooped the fairy into it. He looked into it with narrowed eyes, inspecting the little creature inside of it. The fairy was tiny, dainty, which made sense, he was probably about the size of Sapnap's finger. He was wearing a green top, a turtleneck halter top that left his shoulders and back uncovered, where Sapnap could see that he had put his wings away, merged into his skin, making them look like tattoos. He was also wearing white capri pants and dark green flats. He was covered from head to toe in freckles. His hair was golden-blond, and his pointy ears were covered with intricate jewelry.

Sapnap grinned widely while inspecting the sleeping fairy, then hastily pulled his communicator out of his pocket to message George.

<Sapnap> george i surrender, you win, whatever. come look at what i found!!!!!

<GeorgeNotFound> lmao you gave up in like an hour that's a record

<GeorgeNotFound> send me your coords i'll come

Sapnap sent his coords to George, then began inspecting the area he was around. He placed the jar on the ground and squatted down, trying to figure out what it was. There was a little house made out of what looked like a hollowed out tree trunk, and a garden that looked like a miniature version of one that he could find in a village. It was cute, but there was only one. From what he could remember, fairies were never supposed to be alone. Well, it's not like this little fairy could do much. The rest of the fairies died out almost a year and a half ago.

"Sapnap! God, you were really behind. What'd you find?"

The blaze hybrid perked up, and he picked the jar up off the ground before jogging over to George, careful to not jostle the fairy inside. He lifted it up in front of George's face, grinning widely when the mushroom deity's eyes went wide in shock. He took the jar from Sapnap and looked closely at the fairy inside, his mouth hanging open. Sapnap looked up at George, then laughed slightly, "He was just sleeping on that mushroom over there. I've never seen a fairy before in my entire life. I thought they were one of the species that went extinct."

"Well, all of the books in Karl's library about fairies had the new addition saying that their species did go extinct." George responded, tapping the jar to grow a mushroom and some grass inside it. Sapnap chuckled slightly at the sight, then George sighed, "Let's go home."

The two of them began walking out of the woods, George holding the jar tightly to his chest. Finding a fairy was such a rare thing, and although he felt a little bad about taking the little fairy away from his home, he truly believed that it would be better for the fairy to be around a large population of people, instead of in isolation in the forest.

It took them about an hour to get back to the mainland, and the two of them headed to their house to figure things out. They placed the jar on the counter, then they both ran out to go get Karl. The male seemed to know anything and everything, and he would most likely be the most help when it came to a fairy. Especially considering everyone else thought fairies were extinct.

Dream opened his eyes slowly, the pain finally receding from his body. He whimpered slightly, pushing himself off the mushroom. The fairy expected to see his fox friend nearby, as she usually was there for him when he woke up from these pains, but there was nothing. He stood up, and hit his head against something. He shrieked in surprise, dropping back down to his knees and beginning to really inspect his surroundings. He was surrounded by glass, he was in a jar.

His breathing quickened, and he began pounding his fists on the sides, desperately trying to get out of the glass prison. His hands started to ache, so he stopped, falling down. He heard a door open, so he scooted under the mushroom and curled up into himself, trying to hide.

The fairy shook in fear, terrified to see what creature had kidnapped him. However, what bent down to look for him was a human. He gasped when he made eye contact with him, moving around to hide behind the other side of the mushroom. The person tilted his head, and Dream could see his mouth moving as he spoke to the others around him.

He heard a loud pop, and when he went to look up to see what it was, he was dumped out of the glass jar and onto the hard surface beneath it. He winced slightly, pushing himself off his chest and looking backwards to see the humans. One of them had light brown hair and was wearing a purple sweater. He was the one who leaned down in front of him in the first place. The next one was the mushroom person he had seen running away in the forest, except he was wearing nicer clothes and had a grassy green cape on. The last one was the one holding the jar, the one who Dream assumed was the one who put him in there in the first place. He had dark black hair, and charcoal eyes. He looked awestruck, but it was just making Dream angry.

He focused himself onto that one person, forcing his magic to come out of the small shell he had shoved it into almost two years ago, and he grew. He grew into a human size and grabbed the noirette by the shirt, "Why did you do that? Why did you capture me and bring me here?"

"What?" Sapnap started to respond, but Dream's mind became muddled and he fell over, reverting back to his normal size. The blaze-hybrid caught him, dropping the jar on the ground as he did so, flinching when it shattered. Both Karl and George ran over to him, looking down at the fairy in his hand before sighing. The fairy was panting slightly, his eyes meeting Sapnap's before they closed, and Sapnap could see his lips moving. The male looked up at them with wide eyes, "He asked us to help him."

Karl sighed quietly, carefully taking Dream from Sapnap's hand. He inspected the fairy with a gentle touch, "I don't know, I'm not an expert. He's probably been in isolation for years now, that's the only reason he's alive when the rest of the fairies aren't. He probably hasn't used magic for years. He's sick, and I don't know what it is. We need to find somebody that can treat him, and soon. I don't know fairy biology." He said in a slightly frantic tone.

"This is my fault." Sapnap muttered, pulling his communicator out of his pocket.

<Sapnap> does anybody here know anything about fairies????? George and I found one and he's super sick and none of us know what to do and we would prefer if we were not the reason that fairies went extinct for good pleas e help

George scoffed at the message that Sapnap sent, but if he was being honest, he was feeling the same amount of panic that the younger was. They essentially captured a fairy that quite possibly was completely fine in the forest, and now he was pale and sick because of they look him out of his safe place and stressed him out.

They sat there, cradling the fairy for a while, staring as the fairy got paler and paler, losing more of his color as the time passed. They were about to lose it, about to get ready to create a tiny grave for the fairy they were holding onto when Sapnap's communicator buzzed.

<Ph1lza> bring him to my house

<Ph1lza> NOW

They looked at each other in silent shock, practically hearing Phil's anger through the messages. It was never a good thing when the angel of death was angry with you. They grabbed a small box that they used for herbs, and put some cotton inside of it before placing Dream down. The fairy shivered slightly, so Sapnap then put a handkerchief over him as a makeshift blanket.

They immediately started running to the nether portal that was just outside their house, trying to remember which way to go in the nether to get to Phil's house. At this point, there were so many different paths created in it that it was almost impossible to remember which ones went where, especially if they don't go down it frequently.

"I think it's this one." George muttered, starting to drag Sapnap in the direction he was facing. They were heading down a cobblestone path, most likely created by Tommy. The raccoon hybrid seemed to have an almost unhealthy obsession with it.

They made it to a lone nether portal, in an awkward enough location that it would make sense for it to be the one that connected to the Antarctic , since Techno and Phil weren't too keen on decorating their portals like most others were. They did not want to draw attention to it.

Sapnap sighed in relief when he was met with the painful nips of snow on his skin, and the two of them made haste to Phil's house. The older man was waiting outside his house, tapping his foot on the ground and crossing his arms, clear annoyance on his face. He shook his head at the sight of the two younger males, then held his hand out.

Sapnap looked down in slight shame, then carefully handed Phil the small box they had put Dream in. Phil looked down inside of it and huffed quietly at the sight. The fairy was extremely ill, he knew that much for a fact, and he also knew that Kristin had taught him how to help fairies, considering how much she adored the small creatures. She was so upset when they supposedly went extinct.

“Were there any more of them when you found him?” Phil asked quietly, hoping for a positive answer from the blaze hybrid and mushroom deity.

However, Sapnap just shook his head with a sad look, “No. He was the only one there and there was only one house. He was on his own.”

Phil nodded at them, clearly disappointed with the answer, but he didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he walked inside his house and to his cabinet. He was already fairly certain what the fairy was ailed with, and that was magic exhaustion. If what Sapnap said was the truth, that meant that this fairy has been isolated for a couple years, possibly more. He probably hadn’t used an ounce of his magic in those years, but if he was scared by Sapnap and George, he might have used it as a sort of defensive mechanism, and it might have been too much for him to handle.

He started crushing some of the herbs he had been collecting throughout the years, adding some splashes of a potion of regeneration to make it into a thick paste. It smelled horrid when making enough of it for a human, but when it was only for something the size of a fairy, it was much more bearable. It didn’t burn your nose hairs.

He carefully flipped the fairy over, considering the fact that he was probably just a little bigger than the size of his middle finger, then began smearing the paste on the exposed skin of his back. He was glad that the fairy’s wings were merged with his shoulders and back, otherwise, this would have been a much harder thing to pull off. Once he was done, he wiped his fingers off on a nearby towel, then began searching for something that he could create a proper bed for the fairy out of.

He found one of Kristin’s old jewelry boxes, and considering the fact that it was empty, the angel assumed that she wouldn’t mind if he used it. He put some cushioning inside of it, practically creating a small mattress inside of the jewelry box before putting a couple handkerchiefs in it for blankets. He just put a folded up piece of cloth to act as a pillow.

With slightly shaking hands, he picked the fairy up and placed him in the makeshift bed, then he turned to Sapnap and George, glaring slightly at them, “I have it handled from here. You two can go home. No, you two need to go home now. It’s not a suggestion.”

“Phil, we…”

“Go home.” Phil said, his voice harsh and making it clear that it was not up for debate. Sapnap let off some smoke with his frustration, but he slammed the door open and stormed out, deciding against continuing to argue with Phil.

The older male slumped down onto a chair, groaning into his hands. He didn’t like to be so rude to them, they were young and hadn’t ever seen a fairy before, but there’s a difference between child-like curiosity and stupidity.

Thank you for helping him.”

Phil jerked his head up, turning around to where the fairy was resting. Kristin was standing there, smiling slightly as she brushed his fingers against Dream’s cheek. She turned to Phil and sighed, "I remember this one. His name is Dream. I attempted to speak with him, but fairies are taught to fear any humanoid creatures, especially forest ones. He was exiled soon after I saw him." She said, her tone turning bitter towards the end. However, she quickly composed herself, kissing the tip of her finger and pressing it to Dream's cheek.

"He'll be okay, right?" Phil asked, and Kristin nodded.

"He's exhausted, but the mixture you put on his back will help. He'll probably sleep for a while, so keep an eye on him. Fairies are resilient little ones. It's probably how he was able to survive for a little over three years in isolation. I'm going to stay home until Dream wakes up. Could you make sure that nobody other than Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy come here?" She asked, and Phil whispered a small 'yes'. She smiled, and walked over to press a light kiss to Phil's cheek.

It was always a rare occasion when Kristin would stay home for more than one night, the Goddess of Death was always busy, but clearly Dream meant something for her. So, Phil would have no problem in keeping everybody but their sons away for a few days.

Chapter Text

"Dream, you are endangering our entire society! This is the second time that you have drawn a human to us and we will not accept it!" The elder shouted at him, pushing the young fairy to the ground. He used his magic to bind Dream's wrists together, ignoring the look of panic that crossed Dream's face. Nobody reacted as the elder grabbed Dream by the hair and forced him to look up, "I apologize, dear little one. I feel guilty for this because you are the youngest fairy in the entire population, and you don't know better. But I will not permit your childlike curiosity to be our downfall. You will remain here, and we will leave. You are exiled."

Dream's eyes went wide, and he began frantically shaking his head, "No, no, please. I'll be better! I promise. I-I'll stay in the village and I'll do my job. I'll be better. Please, please, don't leave me here all alone." He pleaded, but his words fell on deaf ears. The elder dropped him down and nodded at everybody surrounding them.

"It is too late. We have reached out final straw."

Dream opened his eyes slowly, and he began tearing up. His body ached slightly, and his wings felt sore. How long had he had them put away? He un-merged them, fluttering them a couple times before he sat up to inspect where he was.

He wasn't in the same place he was the first time he woke up, it was colder, he was in something that resembled a bed. It was more comfortable than the one he had at home. He trembled slightly, rubbing his arms to try to warm himself up.

"Good morning, little one."

Dream gasped quietly, looking up to see Kristin standing there. She smiled weakly at him, reaching her hand out for him. He hesitated for a moment, then stood up, walking over to sit in her palm. She lifted him up to be eye level with her, then smiled. Dream felt a little nervous in her sight, but he teared up and started crying softly.

"Oh, dear, do not cry. I am here for you." She said, nuzzling Dream against her cheek. The fairy closed his eyes and accepted her embrace, reaching his arms out to give her the best hug he could. Kristin smiled, then moved Dream away from her slightly so she could get a closer look at him, smiling widely at the sight of green-blue eyes. "I have been searching for you for a while now, Dream. I must tell you why there is a connection between us. You know how fairies come to be, correct?" She asked.

Dream nodded, "Of course. We're born of a child's first laugh."

"That's correct." Kristin responded, and Dream's heart soared. His entire body felt warm from her kind words and touch. It felt wonderful after so long in isolation. Kristin moved to sit down in the lounge chair, "You are special to me, because you were born of my youngest son's first laugh. Tommy's laugh brought you to be. That's why. I am so sorry, it's my fault you were exiled, and I have been searching for you to keep you safe, keep you alive. My husband, my sons, they will be the ones who keep you alive. I can't stay for much longer. Will you be okay with them?"

The fairy hesitated, looking past Kristin to see Phil standing in the doorway. He shivered slightly, then nodded. Kristin turned to Phil with a smile, walking over to him to place Dream in his hand. Phil smiled weakly, and the goddess kissed his cheek before moving away to gather her things. The angel sighed, knowing that it was necessary for her to be circling the world at all times, but it still caused an immeasurable ache in his chest when she was gone.

Dream continued shivering in Phil's hand, and that made the older male snap out of his trance and look down. The fairy was covered in goosebumps, his entire body, even his wings, trembling because of the cold. He looked up for a second, seeing that Kristin was gone, and that was his call back to reality. He brought Dream up to look at him, "I made some clothes for you, they're better suited for the cold. And I made you some wing covers so you can still fly if need be and not snap your wings in two." He said, walking Dream into the other room.

"Thank you." The fairy whispered, walking off Phil's hand to stand on the dresser while the older male went to grab the clothes he had made. Dream smiled at the clothes, adoring them. He had never met a snow fairy, but in some of the books, they had nice, fluffy clothing like this.

It was a thick green coat with brown leather straps and detailing, which had a wool interior that stuck out of the neck and sleeves. Then there was black pants with a soft inside that practically clung to his legs, but they were warmer than his white pants, and with that were a pair of boots with more wool inside of them, which started warming his feet as soon as he put them on. Phil helped put the wing covers on, and then he kneeled down in front of the fairy.

"Dream? May I ask, what lead to your magic exhaustion?" Phil asked, putting down the tweezers that he had used to button the small wing covers together.

The fairy hesitated for a moment, then sat down, looking up at the older man with slight fear in his eyes. "Um, the one with the darkest hair.. I think he found me in the woods when I was asleep. He put me in a jar and took me home. I grew to a human size to try to scare him, but considering the fact that I have been suppressing my magic for years now, it just.." He said, trailing off when he heard footsteps approaching the room.

"Hallo? Phil? Sapnap and George are here and they seem to be insistent on coming in. What should I do with them?" The person asked, stepping in. Dream hesitantly peeked around Phil's arm to look at them. The male was really tall, with tan skin covered in scars. He had pink hair that went down to his lower back, deep red eyes, and tusks that protruded from his bottom lip. He tilted his head upon seeing Dream, walking over slowly.

Dream ducked behind Phil again, but the older male just shook his head, turning around to see the fairy, "Dream, it's okay. This is one of my oldest sons. This is Techno."

"What about Tommy?" Dream whispered, curiosity getting the best of him. Techno looked mildly offended by the fact that the fairy would rather be around his annoying, thieving little brother, but the piglin hybrid just huffed.

"Tommy is where he always is. L'Manburg. It's nearly impossible to get him out here nowadays. So, what are we doing about Sapnap and George?" Techno asked again, and Phil sighed, extending his hand out for Dream to walk onto it.

The fairy did so, then he was moved to sit on Phil's shoulder. Techno stared directly at Dream with slightly narrowed eyes, still confused on why, first of all, there was a fairy with Phil when fairies were supposed to be extinct, and second, why said fairy was asking about Tommy. Phil walked over to Techno, "Your mother is the one who asked us to keep an eye on him. Fairies are born out of a baby's first laugh, and Dream here was born out of Tommy's. She feels a connection between herself and him, so I'm going to keep him safe, like she asked. As for Sapnap and George, we're going to get rid of them."

"So are he and Tommy brothers?"

Dream shook his head at Techno, "A connection between a fairy and their human isn't like that. In fact, most fairies don't ever meet them." He said quietly, and the piglin hybrid hummed. Techno curled his finger in a 'come here' motion, holding his hand flat for Dream to stand on it. The fairy hesitated, but Phil nodded at him, so he hesitantly flew over to Techno's hand.

The piglin lifted Dream up, making him stumble and fall over, just barely catching himself to avoid faceplanting. He looked even smaller in Techno's hand, sitting there with a small flush on his face. "I'll bring you to meet Tommy. Phil, can you get rid of Sapnap and George? Ranboo said that Tommy is having a bad day." Techno said, reluctantly. He still didn't like his little brother very much, but he had too much respect for his mother to treat this fairy badly.

"I will. Dream, there's a small bag that has your old clothes in it, and one more set that Kristin made for you. You should bring it." The angel said, then walked into the other room to get rid of the two that kept coming back. Sapnap and George were standing on the porch stubbornly, refusing to leave until they got what they wanted. The older man stepped outside, closing the door behind him, "You two need to go."

"It's not fair. We found him." Sapnap said.

Phil didn't even attempt to hide the expression of disgust that crossed over his face, "Dream is a living being. There's no such thing as finders keepers." He snarled, forcing Sapnap to look at him with a harsh grip of the jaw, "You put a fairy inside of a jar. It doesn't matter that you let him out. They are the embodiments of freedom and spirit, he shouldn't have been put it in the first place. You can't 'have him back' because he's not property. Go home."

"Is he awake? Sapnap may be an idiot, but I just want to know that we didn't put the last fairy in existence into a coma, or worse." George said, pushing Sapnap behind him.

Phil sighed, and from the corner of his eye, he saw Techno leaving on Carl, so he chose to answer slowly, "He is awake, and doing fine. But seeing you two would not help. Go home."

George dragged Sapnap away from the house and towards the nether portal. Phil sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. He really did not enjoy being mean to them, but after hearing what Sapnap said, it felt like it was necessary. Until that boy learned that the fairy was a real life that deserved just as much respect as a human, he couldn't be around him.

Dream was holding onto one of the leather straps Techno had going across his body with a death grip. The horse wasn't going terribly fast, but it was still an experience that Dream had never been through, and he felt like he was going to fly off if he let go. Techno found it amusing, and eventually unbuttoned his coat pocket so Dream could safely sit in it.

The fairy did so, then smiled up at the piglin-hybrid. It was nicer to do it when he wasn't freaking out about staying on. Once they got through the nether and Techno was moving much slower, Dream flew out of the pocket, sitting up on Techno's shoulder so he could hear him talking, "I was wondering, why did you react the way you did when I mentioned Tommy?" He asked, his voice almost too saccharine for Techno to handle.

"I don't always get along too well with him. Whenever I think we have reached a mutual understanding, he.. changes his mind and betrays me." He responded, turning to look at Dream. He huffed quietly, then got off Carl to tie him up near the community house. Once that was done, he walked inside the building, and once he was certain nobody was inside of it, he placed Dream down on the counter and began removing the wing covers. "You probably want to change before we go any further. You'll burn up wearing all of this."

Dream pursed his lips, but began digging through the bag to grab a different set of clothes. "This is why I liked the forest." He grumbled, starting to peel of his winter clothing. Once he was wearing his original clothes again, he sighed and turned to Techno, "I understand your negative feelings towards your brother, but I need to say something. The elder, all of the fairies, they exiled me and left me behind to die. That is the ultimate betrayal, but if I had the chance to see them again, I would. I would go to them. And don't give me looks of pity, I know they're dead. I've known for a while, because all of the elder's magic lamps went out. Did your brother ever do something as bad as that?"

"He..." Techno started, but stopped. The piglin hybrid shook his head, "No, he didn't."

Dream nodded at him, pride swelling in his chest slightly, "Exactly. So you can be mad at him, that's what brothers do, but you should never cut yourself off from him, and you shouldn't assume what he was thinking. One day, you're gonna need him." He whispered, flying up to poke Techno directly in the chest.

"Why are you so philosophical?" Techno asked, and Dream just laughed, flying up to sit back on his shoulder with his bag in his lap. The piglin hybrid just shook his head, then began walking towards L'Manburg, where Tommy and Wilbur spent most of their time these days.

They seemed to be on track to get there, but then a certain duck hybrid ran in front of Techno, dragging a fox one along with him, "Techno you're not allowed to be here. You already know that if you step into L'Manburg without permission, we have every right to.."

"What the hell is that?" Fundy asked, interrupting Quackity. The duck hybrid followed Fundy's accusing finger, seeing Dream sitting on Techno's shoulder. He gasped, then walked over to grab Dream in his fist tightly, the fairy shrieking in shock. He tried to pull himself up and out of Quackity's fist, slamming his fists down continuously.

Techno frowned deeply and pried Quackity's fingers apart, giving Dream the chance to fly up and hide in his crown. The fairy frowned deeply, peeking over to continue to see what was going on. The fox hybrid was still gaping at him, and Techno tossed Quackity to the side, "I don't care. Get Tubbo over here and get me permission. I'm doing something willed by Lady Death."

"You mean your mom?" Quackity asked in a snarling tone, and Techno huffed.

<Technoblade> Tubbo come here and give me permission to enter L'Manburg

Quackity's eyes widened at the sight of Techno's communicator, and he went to grab it, but Techno just pulled it out of his reach, "Knock it off. Stop acting like you scare me. You don't. That scar up your face should be proof enough." He said in a mocking tone, making Quackity flush in rage and attempt to charge at him again.

"What's going on?" Tubbo ran over to the two of them, stepping in front of Quackity. The duck hybrid stiffened, but moved back. Tubbo huffed and turned to Techno, "Why do you want permission to come into L'Manburg? You usually just sneak in."

The piglin hybrid shrugged slightly, "I'm doing something for Tommy. It wouldn't be beneficial for me to sneak up on him with an invisibility potion."

"You're doing something for Tommy?" Tubbo asked, perking up just at those words. Techno nodded, pointing up at his crown. Tubbo raised an eyebrow, but looked up and saw Dream leaning over the front of it. The ram hybrid gasped, then looked back at Techno, "Okay. Whatever. Permission granted, you can come in. Quackity, Fundy, go away." He said in one breath, then he grabbed Techno's arm and started dragging him away.

Techno didn't fight Tubbo's grip, just zoning out and waiting until they both stopped. Dream flew down to Tubbo, "Is something wrong with Tommy?"

"I thought you were going to sound like a bell." Tubbo said, his voice slightly strained. Dream tilted his head in confusion, and Tubbo blushed slightly with embarrassment. The ram hybrid stayed silent for a few more seconds, then shook his head, "Tommy just hasn't really wanted to do anything lately. Wilbur was telling him off all the time, Sapnap and George were kind of bullying him over little things, and he stopped playing the 'I'm a big man, it doesn't bother me' thing, and kind of holed up." He explained, then stepped to the side so that Techno and Dream could walk into Tommy's house, "He doesn't want to talk to me, so.."

Techno nodded slowly, then began walking inside the house. It was dark inside, so dark that the piglin had to take a moment to adjust his eyes before continuing to walk, just in fear that he would run into something and look like an idiot. However, Dream just drew into his magic and made himself glow, which provided more than enough light for them to move through Tommy's house safely. They found the raccoon hybrid in his room, sitting on his bed with his legs drawn up to his chest. Techno huffed, "Tommy, I have something for you."

"Techno? Why are you here?" Tommy asked slowly, his voice raspy from it's lack of use. The piglin rolled his eyes, then gestured for Dream to go fly over to him. The fairy nodded, then flew over to sit on top of Tommy's knee. The teen's eyes widened slightly, and he lifted one of his hands up to touch Dream. The fairy frowned as Tommy pushed a finger  into his stomach, and he grabbed it to try to make him stop, "This thing is real? I thought they were all dead."

Dream shook his head, "I was exiled, so I wasn't with all of them when it happened. And I am a little happy about it, because I get to meet you."

"Me? Why am I so special?" Tommy asked, finally looking up completely to see Dream properly. The fairy smiled at him, and the raccoon hybrid took a moment to actually look at him.

Dream thought about how to properly phrase what he was going to say as to not overwhelm the human sitting in front of him, then hummed, "Tommy, fairies are born out of a baby's first laugh, their first giggle. We're born of happiness. I was born out of your first laugh. I didn't know that at first, your mother is the one who told me about it. But now, I get to do something that most fairies never get the chance to. I get to meet you. And I'd like to do it in a bright, sunny spot, not this dark hole in the ground. Come on, life's gonna be bad if you keep looking at the negatives. But here's a positive, you have your own personal fairy. Nobody else born on this land created a fairy who is still alive. That's something, right?" He asked, placing his hands on Tommy's face. Fairies didn't really know how to deal with extremely negative emotions, so all Dream could think to do was try to highlight the positives.

"Yeah, that's something, I guess. You know my mom?"

Dream nodded, "Sort of. I've met her, and we had a conversation, but she left soon after. The Goddess of Death is always busy."

"Yeah, always busy." Tommy responded, then he lifted his head up, smiling at Dream with a happy look, "Now I have something to shove in Sapnap and George's faces."

Techno laughed a little bit himself, "Especially since Phil banned the two of them from even looking at Dream."

Chapter 3

Notes:

i apologize but i severely overestimated my ability to hold this story out for more than three chapters. also for the fact that this chapter is so much shorter but i have hyperfixated on the mafia story so i don't have much inspiration for this one anymore so, whoops?

Chapter Text

Dream had become permanently glued to Tommy's shoulder. The teen always wanted the fairy around him, and so Dream stayed.

He had helped Tommy and Techno mend their fractured relationship, despite that being a nearly impossible feat, and convinced the piglin hybrid to make a house near everybody else. Things were going great, and Dream was no longer having episodes of pain. He enjoyed where he was.

"So, little thing, I must admit that I was ready to..." Quackity started, staring directly at Dream. He was sitting on a bench while Tommy ran to get Techno, and the duck hybrid had gone up to him, sitting down. The fairy was a little uneasy, considering Quackity had always been the one who was lurking around, glaring at Dream whenever he could. However, the male just sighed lowly, "I don't.. didn't.. I don't know what to feel about you. You came with Techno, so I didn't think you could be trusted, even though you're a fairy as big as a finger. But, I like Tommy, the kid needs to be happy sometimes, and you make him happy."

Dream smiled slightly, "I try."

"Yeah," Quackity laughed slightly, "But stop breaking into houses for him."

Dream laughed and nodded, walking over to hug Quackity's hand. The duck hybrid smiled, then he slowly cowered away. Dream turned around and saw Techno and Tommy standing there, and he sighed lowly, flying over to sit in Techno's outstretched hand. The piglin hybrid huffed slightly, then frowned, "What the hell was Quackity doing near you? He knows he has no reason to talk to you because he's just.."

"Techno, stop. I know you don't like him, but he basically just told me that he's going to leave me be for Tommy's sake. It's fine." Dream responded, relaxing into the warm hand. Techno tilted his head slightly, but Dream just closed his eyes and slumped over, clearly exhausted.

Techno narrowed his eyes and turned to Tommy, who was standing there with a guilty look plastered on his face. He raised an eyebrow, trying to get the teen to come clean about what happened, but Tommy stayed firm, so he sighed, "Tommy, he may be a fairy, but he still has normal biological processes. I know you like playing with him, but he feels obligated to be with you at all times, but sometimes, you need to let him sleep. Especially since he's working with Phil so he can use his magic." He scolded, adjusting his hand slightly so Dream could be laying down more comfortably.

"I'm sorry." Tommy muttered, turning to the side in embarrassment. Techno shook his head, then used his free hand to start pushing his brother down the path. The two of them, plus Wilbur and Phil, were going to find Kristin, and Dream still wasn't strong enough to handle that kind of a journey, so he was staying with Sapnap and George.

The two of them had finally gotten over themselves and apologized for what they had done to Dream, recognizing that they were just being ridiculous and infantile. They had become pretty close, and Bad had even started helping him with his magic as well.

"Why do we even have to do this?"

Techno turned back to Tommy, and patted his shoulder, "I know, but we do it every year. Mom usually doesn't ever come back, and this is when we see her. Phil's not going to let go of this tradition. It's a week or two." He said, grabbing Tommy's hand to place a sleeping Dream in it. The fairy shifted slightly, then curled up more, his wings relaxing as well. The teen frowned, and when he looked up, he saw Sapnap standing there.

"Hey," He muttered, stepping forward slightly. Tommy pulled Dream in closer to his chest, but then sighed, walking over to place Dream in Sapnap's hand. The blaze hybrid was about to say something else to the pair of brothers, but they were both walking away already. He felt bad, considering how close the Sleepy Bois family was to the fairy, but he also would not pass up on spending time with Dream himself.

The fairy opened his eyes slightly when he felt that he was laying somewhere a lot warmer, looking up and seeing Sapnap. He smiled weakly, then closed his eyes again, still feeling exhausted from staying up for days. Sapnap squinted, and saw Bad in the distance, running over to meet with him. The demon gasped when he saw Dream sleeping in Sapnap's hand, so he walked over and took him, lifting him up to nuzzle him against his cheek, "He is so cute. Oh, I wish you hadn't screwed up so badly when you first found him, then maybe he would have gotten connected to our family. But whatever, he's with us right now."

"Really? You're blaming me?"

Bad looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "You're the one who put him in a jar. I can blame you for that all I want." He said, then started walking into the community house. Sapnap huffed, but just rolled his eyes and followed his dad inside.

Two weeks later, Tommy came crashing into the community house, looking around for Dream like an animal looking for food. Techno was right behind him, but it didn't take long for them to find their fairy. Dream flew over to them, growing into a human size to hug Tommy. The teen laughed loudly, "You got your stupid magic to work!"

"Yeah, as long as I don't try to grow any bigger than this, my magic should work just fine." Dream responded, rubbing Tommy's hair. He turned to Techno and smiled, "I've learned some new games from Sapnap and George. They told me what they were playing the first day they found me. Manhunt. I played a round of it with them the other day. It's lots of fun."

"That's good, I'm glad."

Dream turned to Techno with a slight frown, so he shrunk back down and flew to be directly in front of the piglin hybrid's face, "Nobody will ever be more important to me than you and your family. You guys are the ones who got me ready to be a part of a society again, to be around people again. I'm eternally grateful." He said, and Techno let him land in his hand. Dream smiled widely, then turned to Tommy, who also walked over. The three of them stayed like that for a while, just holding onto each other with smiles when Dream flew up, "Come on, let's go to Phil."
