Summary:

It's been five years since Ash achieved his dream to be a Pokemon Master. At first, the work seemed endless for the young Champion, but now Ash and Pikachu are in a slump with nothing to do until a letter arrived. Now Ash and Pikachu are off on a new adventure in the Paldea region what challenges will they face in the filed of teaching?!

Chapter 1: Five years later

Notes:

Hi, names Kurt_gervo. This is my first story, sorry if it’s rough around the edges. English is my second language.

I was inspired to finally write my own stories due to not finding any stories that suit my taste, or finding some things close, but not clicking with me.

Kinda surreal. Ash no longer being the protagonist, I mean due to how much of a constant he has been. 25 years, 1,234 episodes, and 23 movies! Now Ash Finally gets his wins and becomes the world champion, and the touch passing to new Protags, so far liking Liko and Roy.

This story is somewhat inspired by Pokémon Journeys: Paldea. By Common Canadia.

Chapter Text

In a little quiet corner of the Kanto region lies Pallet Town. Here we see our Hero, Ash Ketchum Orange League champion, Alola Champion, and World Monarch. Let's see what our young Pokemon Master is doing.”

Ash Ketchum was lazily lying on the living room sofa Pikachu napping right next to him, mindlessly flicking through channels. “Auggggg! So bored. Nothing to do.” “chu.” “Ah, sorry to wake buddy.” “Pika.” Pikachu moves to sit on Ash’s lap. “Bored too bud?” “Pi.”

It’s been 5 years since Ash won the World Coronation Series. Ash, now 17. Had quite a fascinating Pokemon journey. From waking up late, and getting a nonstandard Kanto starter to now world monarch and Alola’s first champion. “Time sure flies by huh buddy?'' The only response the electric mouse could give was a soft “chuuu” sound, Ash subconsciously scratched Pikachu’s ears. On slow days like this Ash can’t but reminisce.

After winning the Masters 8, Ash went on a vacation, just wandering around seeing the sights, and having fun. He ran into many old friends both human and Pokemon. His vacation came to a climatic end when he, Misty, and Brock saved a Latios and Latias from a poacher.

After Ash’s vacation, there was a small lull in his schedule he had nothing to do, so he decided to help out his mother in the family restaurant, the Pallet House. That was a hectic few days! The novelty of the newly crowned world monarch waiting tables at a restaurant attracted people far and wide, some wanted to see him in person and get his autograft, and there were some troublemakers, disgruntled Leon fans, and punks thinking they could take him on because he was young. He took care of the more troublesome guest. By the end, his mother made a lot of money, charging for his autograft or buying a meal and get his autograft for free, with the added effect of spreading the word of his mother's great cooking. Eventually, they had to close for renovations and expansions, hiring some more staff.

Later, after the whole restaurant business, Ash got a call from Professors Kukui, it was about League and champion duties. Being a Champion is more than waiting around for challengers for the title of region’s champion, it also entails shaping the league of the region and… paperwork! Nobody told him about that! The meeting was between him, Professors Kukui, the Kahunas, and Mr.Goodshow, They discussed the future of Alola's league. The conclusion they came up with is, to retrofit the Island challenge into the league system, making the trial captains and some of the Kahunas Gym leaders. The first Generation of Alolan Gym leaders were Ash’s classmates from Alola’s trainer school. Kiawe was not surprising, he always has a fiery passion for battles. Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles have been training to be better battlers since the Manalo conference. Ash spent some time in Alola training with the newly minted Gym leaders and Elite 4 composed of Malayne, Olivia, Acerola, and Kahili.

After training with Alola league Gym leaders and Elite 4. Ash went on press tours and exhibition matches. The work seemed endless, and then things slowed down a bit, but he still had something to do. Now he’s in a slump, with other champions, Elite 4 members and top-level trainers aren’t always available. Plus his friends are busy right now.

Ash started to use his Rotom phone more than just calling and the Pokedex app. He discovered social media, it made reconnecting and catching up with old friends and acquaintances much easier. “Hmm. Speaking of friends. Garry and Goh are coming over tonight for dinner, they just returned from an expedition.” Garry and Goh are part of a revitalized project Mew, with Professor Amaranth collaborating with Cerise laboratory and Professor Oak.

“Hey Pikachu… Do you think we should tell them about Mew?”  “PI!” “Yeah, you're right. They should find Mew on their own. Besides, we made a promise to Queen Ilene to keep the secrets of Rota, and we are the few people Mewtwo trusts.”

“Hmmm… Speaking of friends.”  Ash begins to think about his many friends. He isn’t the only one busy in the last five years. “Pi?” Pikachu looked at Ash. He has a thoughtful expression on his face. “Oh, sorry buddy. Just thinking about our friends, and what they're doing now.

Chloe. When Ash first met her she was reserved in personality. At first, Chole didn’t know what to do with her life, not wanting to go on a journey. Kinda not interested too much in Pokemon due to people's expectations of her to be like her father. That changed when she got her own Pokemon, an Eevee, and occasionally joined him, and Goh on their adventures.

The real turning point for Chloe was meeting the trainers with eeveelutions, and meeting Dawn and Serena.

During a summer vacation, Chloe traveled to Sinnoh alone due to her family being busy, wanting to see a contest in person she decided to head for Eterna City. Eevee wanting to travel on foot led them to meet Dawn and Piplup, at first they bickered, then they got to know each other, Dawn saying she should try entering a contest and Dawn showing contest skills. During that trip Chloe, Goh, Dawn, and Himself met up and saved Cresselia from Team Rocket.

Serena encouraged her to participate in Lilycove’s contest spectacular, helping her pick an outfit and reassuring her.

After finishing school Cloue told her family, Goh, and him of her plans to finally go on a journey, she wanted to do contests, but that didn’t mean she just wanted to be a Coordinator, no, Chloe wanted to be an entertainer, making people and pokemon smile. They all wished her the best of luck.

Ash suggested Chloe travel with Dawn to learn from her. So they called Dawn, asking if she was willing to have Chloe travel with her, Dawn enthusiastically accepted!

Now Chloe and Dawn are in Unova,  Chloe doing Pokemon musicals and starring in Pokestar Studios movies with Evee and Galrian Ponyta. Dawn is busy doing her own thing.

Dawn is now a top Coordinator and a fashion designer. Dawn designs clothing with the person’s personality and style in mind. She has made dresses and suits for Zoey, Kenny, May, Chloe, Serena, and himself. Dawn even got to make a ball gown for Princess Salvia, and the Dressed Serena wore when she won the Master showcase, earning Dawn the nickname Royal Tailor.  She took Chloe under her wing, teaching her the ropes of Pokemon contest. Currently, Dawn is busy with a fashion show with Fantina, Valerie, and Elesa in Unova.

May, Also now a top Coordinator. From the girl who went on a journey to just travel, to now Hoenn’s contest Princess, and now Queen. Surpassing her rivals Drew, Harley, Soledad, and even Lisia. May, Lisia, and Serena formed an Idol group called Altaria Harmonies. Serena eventually left Hoenn to go back to Kalos, leaving May and Lisia a duo act. Altaria Harmonies is currently touring Sinnoh. The last time Ash and May talked, she and Lisia were busy with contests and concerts.

Serena. She went to Hoenn to train and hone her skills, and by coincidence, she met May, and through May she met Lisia.

Serena studied under those two veteran coordinators. May sat out That year’s Hoenn Grand Festival. In May’s words ‘To show me and the world what you learned! Now show me how good of a teacher I am by winning the Grand Festival in my place!’ Serena won the Grand Festival. May was gitty and smug after the festival, rubbing it in Harley’s face, her student beat him.

Serena after the Grand Festival knew it was time to leave, she didn’t want to leave the group she made with May and Lisia, the two assured her they were okay with her leaving, and they understood. Before Serena left, she and May made a promise to face each other in a contest when they met again.

When the time came for the Masterclass Showcase. Lumiose was chosen to host that year. Serena poured all of the experience and knowledge she had gained everything she had into her routine. When the metalogical dust settled the winner was Serena.

Ash at the time couldn’t go to Lumiose to cheer her on, The word tournament was happening in Driftveil City in Unova, and he and the rest of the Alola league were there to represent the region.

Ash could only call Serena the day after the Masterclass showcase. “beep* beep* beep* “Um… Hello. Serena.”

“AH. ASH! Good to see you, and congratulations. I just saw your match with Lance. That was an amazing fight!”

“Thanks, Serena, and Congratulations to you too. You're the new Kalos Queen… Sorry, I couldn't be ther-”

“NO!” Serena cut Ash off. Her tone was firm. “Listen here Ash! I know you didn’t mean to miss the Showcase. I understand. You reached your dream, you are a champion now, with responsibilities and obligations. You’re in Driftveil representing Alola as their champion. You talking and congratulating me on my victory, even if it is a day late, means you still care for our friendship.”

Ash was silent for a moment, then he smiled. “Well, as Her Majesty, Queen Serena demands. I am no longer sorry.” the two giggle for a bit.

“So, Serena. I’m done with matches for the day. I’m about to get a late lunch, wanna just talk and catch up?” “I would love that. It is almost dinner time here in Kalos, let caught up over a meal.”

That was the last time he and Serena were able to talk or spend time together. She, like Ash, has a really long conga line of work. While the title of Kalos comes with some responsibilities and work. Serena has much more work than Aria. Pokemon Contest came to Kalos and the Contest committee asked for her help in bringing Contest to Kalos. With Serena being a top Coordinator and Grand Festival winner, she’s helping shape the future Kalos Contest circuit. It has been two years since Serena won the Kalos Queen title. They haven’t been able to talk, just messages.

Brock. He’s now a Pokemon Doctor, and a really good one too. He can easily tell what ails a Pokemon and how to treat it.

While no longer a Gym leader, passing that mantle to Forest, doesn’t mean he neglects his Pokemon training, Brock is still a solid Trainer when it comes to battle. Heck, Forest even willing sat out the world tournament, his reason was, wanting to see his big brother battle again, Brock obliged his little brother, taking his place on the Kanto team sent over to Unova.

During the world tournament, Brock had an amazing run, Ash was looking forward to fighting him again, but sadly that wasn’t the case, Brock was beaten by Bryon, it was a close match.

Ash wanted to talk with Brock after the match, Ash looked around for him, and eventually, he found... BROCK AND OLIVIA ON A DATE!!! After years of flirting with so many girls, being reined in by Misty, Max, May, Bonsly now a Sudowoodo, Dawn, Croagunk now a Toxicroak, and himself at times, to not bother the girls he meets. Brock is finally off the Market!

Brock and Olivia explained they didn’t mean to keep their relationship a secret, they were just really busy, Brock with medical school, then his residency, Olivia with her duties as an Island Kahuna then an Elite 4 member so they forgot to tell their friends. Ash just smiled at them and said he was happy for them, he told them to enjoy their date.

Ash then ran to find Misty and tell her what he saw! At first, Misty didn’t believe Ash, but then he showed her where Brock and Olivia were, the look on her face was Priceless!

Misty. Ash’s first traveling Companion. First meeting her on route 1, Misty fishing Ash and Pikachu out of the river, then Ash borrowing her bike… And accidentally destroying it!

Hey! It was an emergency and an angry flock of Spearow was chasing him… Well, it was kinda his fault, throwing a rock at a certain Spearow, it called its buddies to get back at him. Anyway, Misty comforted him at Viridian City Pokemon Center about her charred bike. Ash explained himself, Misty softened her tone and accepted Ash's apology, but she still wanted her bike fixed, then they had their first run-in with Team Rocket, and as they say, the rest was history. Who knew those series of events would lead to a strong friendship?

Ash learned a lot about Misty, her hopes, dreams, and insecurities during their travels. She didn’t have a great relationship with her sisters, Daisy, Lily, and Violet, they more or less patched things up nowadays.

Today Misty is one of Kanto’s top Trainers. The Cerulean City Gym has a reputation for being one of the toughest challenges for any trainer wanting to enter the Kanto League, and that's with Misty holding back, to comply with League regulations!

Two years ago during the World Tournament in Driftveil City. Misty showed off her full strength, making it to the semi-finals in their block where they faced each other in 4 V.S 4. Ash won that match, but Misty didn’t make it easy for him, the final score was 4 to 2. Misty still has a ways to go to beat Ash.

Misty is among a few Ash regularly sees and hangs out with, the others are the Alola gang and Tracey. Whenever Ash has downtime with his Champion duties, press tours, or training, Misty is usually free just to hang out and talk. Just last week they hung out. Misty had asked Ash to help her train, and get ready for League season. The two trained on route 24, just on the outskirts of Cerulean City, and that day ended with a one-on-one battle between Ash’s Crawdaunt and Misty’s Clawitzer. The battle went something like this.

The two trainers stand opposite of each other on a grassy field near a riverbank. Both already have a Pokemon on the field ready for battle, the two crustaceans look intensely at each other, Crawdaunt and Clawitzer developing a strong friendship and rivalry with one another over the years, and the two Pokemon are eager to start.

“Ready to lose Ash?” Misty said in a playful tone.

“Funny, I should be the one to ask you that. Who won all our battles recently?” Ash replied with a smirk.

“You won’t be smiling after me and Clawitzer are done with you! We have something special planned.”

Ash looked at Misty curiously, wondering what she has up her sleeve. “Ladies first.”

“When did you become a gentleman, Ash? Well, if you insist, Clowitzer! Water pulse!” A glowing sphere of water shot toward Crawdaunt.

Crawdaunt jumps up to avoid the Water Pulse. “Great job Crawdaunt, now our turn! Bubble beam!” Mid-air Crawdaunt shot a stream of bubbles out of its claws. Bubblebeam pelted Clowitzer and the surrounding area.

“Solid hit, Crawdaunt.” “Craw.” “ Now follow up with Crab hammer!”

“Oh no you don't. Clawitzer! Water pulse. Keep Crawdaunt at bay!” “Claw!” In rapid succession Clawitser shot off Water pulses, causing Crawdaunt to halt his advance. Crawdaunt did his best to dodge, but one of the Water pulses landed.

*Spoosh* “Craaadaunt” Crawdaunt was knocked back a bit by the hit. “Crawdaunt, you ok.” before Crawdaunt could respond, Ash heard Misty yell out a command. “Now while Crawdaunt is disoriented, Aura sphere!” Energy built up and shot out of Clawitzer's large claw. The blue orb was homing onto Crawdaunt!

Ash’s eyes widened seeing the attack. His mind raced quickly. “Use Crabhammer! Block Aura sphere!” *boom* “Craw!” While Crabhammer mitigated some of the damage, it still stung a bit.

“How you like that, Ash. Me and Clawitzer have been working on Aura sphere for weeks.” Misty smiled. “Something to deal with agile challengers. And you are the perfect test subject, for testing out the fruits of my and Clawitzer’s labor. Misty said with a smirk.

Ash returns the smirk saying. “Me and Crawdaunt were surprised, but now that you showed us your trick we won’t be caught off guard. Crawdaunt, Swords dance .”

“Aqua jet to close that distance!” Misty ordered.

Ash was confused, Misty had been trying her best to keep Crawdaunt at bay, and now she was the one charging forward. Whatever she has planned, he will be ready for it. “Harden!” For a moment Crawdaunt shines like a polished shield in the sunlight, lessening the damage of the Impact.

“Gotcha! Now we have you! End this Clawitzer! Aura sphere!” “CLAWITZER!” ”CRAA?!” *BOOOM!* As the dust settles. Misty was about to call it her win, but we see Crawdaunt still standing.

“Quick, Crawdaunt throw mud on Clawitzer’s face!” That does that trick, disorienting Clawitzer. “Claw. Claw Calw?!” “Now’s our Chance Vince grip on Clawitzer's large claw, and slam it!”  “CRAWDAUNT!”  Clawitzer was lifted and slammed into the mud, Crawdaunt still having a grip on its claw, pinning down the blue shellfish Pokemon.

“No! Clawitzer use Aura sphere!” Misty yelled. She was hoping Aura Sphere would knock off Crawdaunt or K.O it.  Blue energy was building up in Clawitzer’s Claw.

“Now let’s end this! Crawdaunt Crabhammer!” “CRAW!” Crabhammer hit right on top of Clawitzer's head. Knocking him out, the blue light fading from its claw. Ash and Crawdaunt are the winners.

After the battle. Both trainers heal up their Pokemon. Crawdaunt is still his energetic and friendly self, evolving just made him bigger. Clawitzer acted aloof, he then extended his claw to shake it with Crawdaunt’s. Clawitzer enjoyed the battle with his friend.

As for the trainers. “Ash, that was a diary trick, using mud to blind Clawitzer like that.” said Misty pouting.

Ash just smiled at her and retorted. “Oh, come on Mist, it was a valid move. I was mindful of my surroundings and took advantage of it. Maybe you’ve just gotten soft.” he said with a wry smile.

“What did you just say… Please explain yourself, Mr. Ketchum. Or you will find yourself in the mud and dirt.” Misty said through a forced smile barely concealing rage. And she raised a fist.

Ash raised his hands to his chest and started weaving them frantically. “Wwh- What I mean is!”

“What. I’m waiting.” Misty stared intensely at Ash. hand on her hips, hunched forward at him.

Taking a deep breath. “What I mean is, You’ve been doing most of your battling in Cerulean City Gym, Where the battle arena is tailor-made for you. A large swimming pool with a couple of platforms here and there.” Misty stance softens. Ash mentally breathes a sigh of relief. Ash continues. “You have the home-field advantage. You’ve gotten used to that.”

Misty grumbled for a bit. She understands what Ash is saying. “Ugh. Find. I see what you mean. But I can’t do anything now. League season is just about to start. Maybe after the season, we’ll do some renovations.”

It was getting pretty late. Ash got on his Pidgeot and headed back to Pallet town, but before he leaves Misty says to him. “Hey, Ash. Thanks for today, hanging out and training. Just like old times.” she said the last part with a smile.

“Yeah. Like old times. Thanks too. I needed this. Was bored out of my mind with nothing to do.”

“Aw. is mister Champion having a rough time with no work.” she giggles. “Hey, about doing my paper. You have nothing to do, right.”

“NO! I have enough trouble doing my own paperwork. It's getting late. See you!” Ash says as Pidgeot flies off.

Now the League season is in full swing. Misty is busy. Sure they could still message each other, but can’t hang out. Plus Ash will cause a commotion if he shows up due to his fame.

Tracey. He is now a professor but still chooses to be Professor Oak's assistant. Tracey’s field of expertise is in Pokemon human relations, like Processor Oak.

He has a published thesis paper, It’s about how deep bonds of friendship can cause Pokemon to go beyond their limits for their trainer's sake. Tracey told him that he and his Pokemon inspired him. How his Pokemon went above and beyond their limits for him, but having a sample size of one is not very scientific. So Tracy went out on a Journey, to see if his theory was true, and it was. Tracy met many trainers with bonds with their Pokemon. surviving hits that would usually K.O them, overcoming status ailments, and their moves having extra power. All for their trainer's sake.

Tracey also has several books published, about how to bond with Pokemon, Care of Pokemon, And Pokemon in their natural habitats. Tracey’s books have amazing illustrations by him, to give them a more personal touch. Tracey these days is helping with Project Mew.

Ash just recently found out Clemont had a hand in the creation of the Rotom Dex, and the many new Rotom forms. Clemont could have been the wealthiest man in the modern world but turned it down.

Clemont says his inventions are for the benefit of others, not just himself. So, two out of… Ash forgot how many of Clemont’s inventions have exploded over the years, but two successes. His Aipom arms, niched, only used by him and professionals in the scientific field when handling dangerous materials, While the other revolutionized electronics and changed the face of modern life.

Even after his major success with Rotom technology, Clement is still trying to invent new gadgets. While inventing is his passion, that doesn’t mean Clement neglected his Gym leader duties, far from it. Clement has improved by a lot since they traveled tougher, and reunited during the World Coronation series, earning a Lumiose City Gym reputation as a good challenge for trainers. Trainer tips and guides say to save Lumiose City Gym and Clemont for later if they're just starting their journey.

After years of Bonnie trying to get Clemont a girlfriend, Clement is finally in a relationship! He and Korina have been dating for 2 years now. It started with Clemont asking Korina for help with training, then hanging out and going on outings, to finally dating. Bonnie was so happy that her brother finally found a girlfriend, but a little bit sad she couldn't do her bit anymore. But now Bonnie is planning Clement and Korina’s wedding. Ah, Bonnie never change.

Speaking of Bonnie. She’s now a Pokemon trainer, she’s now 13 and has been on her Pokemon Journey for a while now. Bonnie when she turned 10, had forgone getting a Kalos starter, her reasoning was, Dedenne was all that she needed for the start of her journey. Bonnie’s journey is mostly quiet and peaceful, unlike when she traveled with Ash. Things in the Pokemon world have quieted down and become a bit safer, thanks to the efforts of the authorities, Interpol, and the League, making sure no more new evil teams pop up, or somebody like Chairman Rose pulls an insane stunt, like what happened during the Masters 8.

Not long after Bonnie started her journey an old friend came back, it was Squishy, it came back as promised. Ash, Clemont Serena had a with Bonnie and Squishy, about flaunting Squishy around, a trainer as young as her having a legendary would attract the wrong kind of attention. Both Bonnie and Squishy promised not to show off, and Squishy would only come out to fight if the situation is an emergency.

During Bonnie’s first year as a trainer, she made several discoveries about herself. She was not good at Pokemon battles, and she wasn’t well coordinated with her Pokemon to do showcases, but that didn’t get her down! Bonnie’s resolved to get better! So Bonnie traveled to Hoenn, maybe a change of scenery is what she needs to improve. She met Juan, Sootopolis City’s Gym leader and Wallace's master. Juan took Bonnie under his wing, teaching her battle and Coordinator skills.

Bonnie learned all she could from Juan. Bonnie promises to come back and fight her teacher one day. Before she leaves Hoenn Bonnie meets up with Serena, May, Lisia, and Max at Slateport City for the Grand Festival! She watched Serena win, making Bonnie more excited to face Serena in a showcase, or Contest!

The group celebrated Serena’s win in a nearby restaurant. They talked about Serena's amazing performance, catching up, and what they are gonna do next. Bonnie tells them about her time training under Juan and now plans to head over to Sinnoh to try and challenge the League and Contest circuit. When May heard that, she suggested Max travel with Bonnie! Max was initially apprehensive but after some teasing by May, he reluctantly accepted.

Max and Bonnie started their journey at roughly the same time, give or take a few days. Here is how Max started his Pokemon Journey!

On Max’s 10th birthday, he is finally able to set off on a journey of his own! He always had an interest in Pokemon ever since he can remember, thanks to his father, Norman being a Gym leader, leading him to read a lot of books about Pokemon, but soon learned there's a difference between reading about Pokemon and meeting them in person.

When Max went to Professor Birch for his starter, he chose Mudkip. Max plans to start his Journey in Johto, wanting to get stronger before challenging his home Region’s League, and his father. Before leaving Max makes several stops to reunite with some old friends, Ralts and a Shroomish, then they set off for Johto.

Max did amazing in Johto. Overcoming the Gyms and making new friends, both people and Pokemon. Max, like Bonnie, had a quiet journey, compared to when he traveled with Ash. Max kinda missed the more adventurous times, but remembering how the world almost ended several times, made him appreciate the peace.

Ash reunited with Max during his time in Johto. It was at Goldenrod City. Ash had a match with Brono of the Kanto-Johto Elite 4. After the battle, Ash saw Max. They talked and caught up with each other. Max challenged Ash to a Pokemon battle, he had no illusions of winning, just wanted to see how strong Ash has become. The battle took place on the outskirts of Goldenrod. As expected Max stood no chance. Ash used Heracross to sweep Max’s team, but he wasn’t sad or angry, no, Max had a thoughtful, determined look on his face. Now Max sees how much of a way to go he has before he can be Ash’s equal. Before parting ways, Ash gives Max some advice, Goldenrod’s Gym leader, Whitney is tough, and to watch out for her ace.

During the Silver conference, Max ranked top 14, impressive for a first-time League challenge attempt. After the Silver conference, Max headed back home to figure out the next step in his Journey. Max was surprised May didn’t compete in that year's Gran festival, after hearing May’s explanation, he wanted to see how his sister’s student performed. After the Grand festival, the group celebrates in a nearby restaurant, Max meets Bonnie again. After hearing Bonnie’s plans to travel to Sinnoh, May suggested Max and Bonnie travel tougher.

During Ash’s first anniversary of being World Morach, his friends and family threw him a surprise party. Almost all of Ash’s friends and rivals attended some meeting each other for the first time.

At first Max and Bonnie were awkward traveling companions, but as they continued on their journey they developed a stable friendship. Bonnie is more carefree, while Max is more wound up at times, they balance out each other. They took on Sinnoh's changes head-on! Both earning Gymbadges, and Bonnie also doing contests.

Bonnie earned the requisite 5 ribbons to enter Sinnoh’s Grand Festival. She made it through the appeals round but was knocked out during the preliminaries of the combat rounds. Getting eliminated so early didn’t get Bonnie down, moping around doesn’t help her get better. She prepares for next time!

At Lilly of the Valley Conference, both Max and Bonnie entered, hoping to win. Ash at the time was in Sinnoh running an errand for Professor. Oak. After the errand, Ash rushed over to Lilly of Valley Island to surprise Bonnie and Max.

Ash’s reunion with the two was fun, at first not recognizing him, due to going incognito and not wanting to cause a fuss. Ash met Bonnie’s team in person for the first time, of course, he already knows Dedenne and Squishy, but she has more Pokemon. Ash met her Furfrou, Klefki, Pyorar, Staraptor, and a Galarian Slowpoke! That team Bonnie is entering the conference with.

As for Max, Ash already met some of Max’s Pokemon, his starter, now a Swampert, The Ralts, and Shroomish he met years ago during his travels, there now a Gardevoir, and Breloom. Max also has a Houndoom, Ursaring, and Hitmonlee.

Max and Bonnie faced each other in the quarter-finals. Bonnie lost, she finished the conference in the top 16, not bad for a first-time league attempt. Ash, Squishy, and Pikachu watched in the stands. The match didn’t put a damper on their friendship, it was only natural they would face one another in Pokemon battles.

Max was knocked out, he was top 12 of Lilly of the Valley Conference that year. Well, Max has a ways to go before facing Ash. The group stayed till the end of the Conferences watching the finals. The three parted ways after the closing ceremony, Ash wonders what Max and Bonnie are up to now.

Cilan. He went on quite a Journey after parting ways with Ash. After Cilan's journey, he went back home to Striaton City and continued his Gym leader duties with his brothers Chili and Cress. Cilan came back better than ever!

One day when Ash was just browsing through the internet on his phone, he saw the news that Striaton Gym was closing down! Ash quickly called Cilan asking why their Gym was closed down, did they run afoul with the Pokemon Inspection Agency? Cilan explains the decision of closing down the Striaton was made by them. When he came back, Cilan became a more competent battler, during Gym battles challengers had a much easier time facing off against Chili and Cress. His brothers felt like they were dragging him down. The brothers talked about their problem, and they decided to close down the Gym and go on a journey. They give their resignations to the Unova League for the time being.

Well, fast forward. Cilan, Chili, and Cress were done with their journey, they retook the Gym leader test, and passed with flying colors! Thanks to their Journey, Chili and Cress were now on par with Cilan. The reopening of Striaton Gym was quite the spectacle, with the brothers serving up all kinds of food and dishes they learned on their journey. Ash wished he could have been there, the food and battling… Stupid paperwork- Ahem. Iris was there at the reopening. She, Cilan, Chili, and Cress had a triple battle, the Striaton Gym leaders showing off their new skills. While Iris is the champion, commanding three Pokemon at once is no easy task, and her opponents are siblings that are perfectly in sync with each other.

Well, the brothers lost to Iris, but that doesn’t mean they were weak, far from it! Cilan, Chili, and Cress made Iris work for her victory, the brothers managing to knock out two of her Pokemon. That was one heck of a reopening!

And speaking of Iris. The Young Dragon Queen of Unova, a nickname she loves to hear. When they first met, Iris was shy and excited to meet foreign Pokemon like Pikachu, but after traveling tougher a bit, she quickly shed the shy persona and show more of her energetic boastful self, and she loved to point out how ‘He is such a kid,’ even though they were practically the same age. But Ash later learns Iris with all her teasing and bravado was just to cover her own insecurities.

Both Iris and Ash share the distinction of being the youngest regional champion, but Ash overshadows Iris due to being the world Monarch, what most of the world considers the Champions of Champions, which has sparked a fierce but friendly rivalry between them. Iris had the chance to take Ash’s crown during the World Tournament in Driftveil. Both Ash and Iris made it to the finals, Ash winning, continuing his reign as World Monarch. The World Tournament was a temporary substitute for the World Coronation Series until things with Macro Cosmos were sorted out.

A couple of weeks back Ash, Iris, and Cilan had a lull in their schedules, so they planned to go on a trip. Their destination, Galar's Crown Tundra and the Isle of Armor. But something came up, and they had to cancel their plans, it went something like this.

Ash was packing his backpack preparing for the trip with his friends, Iris and Cilan. His Rotom Phone hovering in the air, a group video chat with Iris and Cilan. “Hurry up Slowpokes! I’m already at Nimbasa Airport!!” Cilan get your butt over here!” Iris screamed at him.

“Calm down, Iris. I’m almost done packing. Just checking if I’m missing something.”

“Iris, let Cilan do his thing. It's good to be organized and prepared. Something I wish I did more often back in the day.” Ash said as he continued to try on clothes in front of a mirror.

“It's so nice to see the reckless Bouffalant-headed child I used to know, grow and mature,” Iris said with a smirk. “And on another note. Ash, when did you become such a fashionista? It's kinda weird seeing you like this.”

“I have to agree with Iris on this. It’s just so unlike to get into fashion. Ash.” Cilan chimed in.

“As you guys know, I’m the World Monarch, The Champion of Champions,” Ash said with an exaggerated haughty tone. He hears an “urk.” sound from Iris. Ash chuckles to himself, getting one over Iris. “I’m more recognized than the other Champions. I get swarmed by people wanting to see me and get my autograph. I don’t want to be mean and turn them away, but it gets annoying and tiring dealing with large crowds of fans. So I decided to disguise myself, switch up my shirts, and style my hair a bit.” explained Ash

“But all you’re doing is putting on different clothes that are enough to fool people?” Cilan questions.

“Yeah, not buying it.” Iris said in a skeptical tone.

“I got this idea from Diantha. I first met her after she defeated a challenger, she wanted to buy a chocolate cake from a local shop. Diantha wore a different dress, a broad-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. The shopkeeper didn’t recognize her, but Me, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie did, by the sound of her voice.” Ash explains.

“So, it works? How long have you been doing this, Ash.” Asked Cilan

“Hmm… I think more than a year. I first started going incognito when I went to meet up with Bonnie and Max at last year’s Lilly of the Valley Conference. After seeing how effective it was, I continued disguising myself every time I wanted to go out and have fun. But I was almost caught by a fan once, he saw Pikachu,” “Pika... chuuu.” As the electric mouse was mentioned. It rubs the back of its head, feeling embarrassed. “Don’t worry about it, Pikachu, it wasn’t your fault. As I was saying. A fan saw Pikachu on my shoulder and came up to talk to me, as he heard my voice and got a better look at my face, he almost recognized me. I had to pretend to be my own biggest fanboy to throw him off. After almost getting caught, I decided to change my clothes even more, not sticking to a single set for too long, and had custom-made backpacks and shoulder bags with compartments for Pikachu to hide in.”

“Hey Ash, if you're tired of being mobbed by fans, why don’t you abdicate and give your crown to me? Haha! Kidding, I want to take it by beating you! Hmm. I might try your dress-up idea, Ash. My fans aren’t that bad, it's the paparazzi and tabloid ‘reporters’ that annoy me the most! And Drayden and the League say ‘It’s improper for the Champion to threaten and harm people.’ GAH! It’s those parasites that start it by annoying me! They try to make me look bad!” Iris screamed the last part out, almost getting noticed by the passerby at the airport.

“I don’t think it will work for you, Iris.”

“Oh, why is that, Ash?” Iris asked.

“You’re hair, it’s really distinct, purple, thick, long, and flowing. It just screams ‘You.’ Unless you want to cut it.”

“NO!” Iris screams. Being offended at the notion of cutting her hair.

Ash continues. “That reminds me, Cynthia can’t disguise herself too well, due to her hair also being really distinctive, but I don’t think Cynthia needs it. She can go out in public and people respect her space, they don’t bother her too much. I wonder how she does it. Speaking of the other champions. Can you guys imagen Lance wearing anything else than his Hammerlock-inspired Dragon tamer outfit? Oh, bad example, He regularly goes undercover as a G-man. How about Steven wearing something else besides his suit, people could be walking right next to the Kanto-Johto or Hoenn champion without noticing. The public has an image of us champions, with our signature style and clothing, but change it up a bit, some of us can blend in with a crowd easily.”

“Woah, Ash. I never thought you, out of all people, would develop a sense of fashion. But your quest for privacy has given you a sense of Fashion and style. It’s kinda jarring seeing you like this, Ash.” *Beep.* “Oh, I got a message.”

“Clilan is right. It's weird to see you like this, Ash.”

“Hmm. Yeah. It is kinda weird for me. Besides you guys, the only other people who know of my new ‘hobby’ are my Mom and Mimey. Mom welcomes it, happy she finally has somebody else to go clothes shopping with her. Are you guys excited to visit The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra? I’ve been to both places, but I was on missions as a Research fellow so I could explore much. I can’t wait to see the famous Master Dojo and meet Leon’s master. And if we're lucky, a certain special Island in the Ilese of Armor. And for Crown Tundra, I heard they have special carrots that grow in the snow and have a unique taste. Oh, I can't wait for Clilan to make something amazing with those!” Ash was excited about the new adventure with his friends.

“Yeah. Me too. It’s been so long since I could just wander around and adventure. Don’t get me wrong, I love being champion, but why didn’t anybody tell me about the damned paperwork!”

“Yeah. Me too. Why didn’t they warn me about it too?!. Well enough about work, we're on vacation!”

Clilan had been quiet for a while now. Ash looked over to his green hair friend, he saw Clilan had a worried expression on his face. “Clilan, you okay, you’ve been silent for a while now. What did the message say, is it bad?”

“Ah, Oh. Sorry for being silent guys.” Clilan takes a deep breath. He looks at Iris. “Iris. The message you got, read it carefully and stay calm.”

Both Ash and Iris were alarmed by what Clilan said. Was it a reorganized Team Plasa trying to take over Unova again, or some wannabe villain trying to harness the power of legendary Pokemon? Iris quickly opens her email and reads the message. Ash held his breath, whatever new crisis Unova will face, he will rush there to help out his friends. As Iris read the message, her eyes grew wide with shock! “Oh. hahaha! Funny Joke Cilan, you got me going there for a moment! You’ve got me.”

Ash knew something was wrong. Iris’ laugh was forced and her tone was pleading, hoping what she read was a joke.” Iris… It is not a Joke. It's real.” one could hear a Pin drop after Cilan said those words. In an instant, Iras grabbed her Rotom Phone out of the air. “THOSE ARCEUS DAMNED PENCIL-PUSHING DESK JOCKEYS MESS UP NOW!!! NOW OF ALL TIMES WHEN I’M ABOUT TO TAKE A VACATION!!! I TRIPLE-CHECKED AND MADE SURE MY PAPERWORK WAS IN ORDER BEFORE LEAVING!!! NOW IT'S ALL FOR NOTHING!!!” Iris went on a massive tirade, she swore up a storm that shocked Ash, Cilan, and Pikachu. Iris dropped out of their group video chat. “Um… So what was the message about.” Ash asked. “Well, here's what happened…” Cilan began to explain the situation.

It was now evening in Pallet Town. Delia Ketchum and Mimey were heading home after another day of work. When they got home, they were surprised to see Ash still there. “Ah, welcome home Mom, Mimey. I’ve made dinner.” Ash greeted them.

“Ash, what are you still doing here, I thought you’d have left after lunch for your trip with your friends?”

“Um, change of plans Mom, something came up and we had to cancel. I’ll set the table, in the meantime look up Unova news, you’ll see the reason why Iris and Cillian had to cancel our plans.”

Delia was curious as to what happened. She took out her Rotom Phone and went over to the news tab, selecting the Unova sections. She saw the headline for an article that read, ‘Unova Champion has a meltdown at Nimbasa airport.’ Delia skimmed through the article, it was just tabloid trash making fun of Iris, then she saw a video. When she played it, it shocked her to see Iris curse up a storm. Delia had met Iris several times, she found Iris energetic and a good friend to her son. She wonders what happened to anger Iris this much. “Mime.” Even Mimey was shocked by Iris’ cursing.

Over dinner, Ash explains what happened. The Unova League’s data servers got corrupted, so many files got deleted, and can’t be recovered. And to top it off, the physical papers got ruined by the sprinklers accidentally going off! So a string of unlucky coincidences ruins their vacation plans. Iris is so angry because she hasn’t had a vacation in a long time, plus all the work she has to redo. Cilan, while annoyed with redoing the paperwork, it’s more manageable for him thanks to his brothers. Ash has to thank Sophocles for putting in backups and redundancies in the Alolas League servers, so nothing like that happens to them.

“And that's the gist of it. It's kinda funny in a way. But not for Iris.” Ash chuckled a bit. “So Mom, Mimey. How's the Curry?” Ash wants to hear his Mother and Mimey’s feedback.

“Hmm. A bit on the salty side but otherwise fine, dear.” A smile formed on Delia’s face.

“Mime Mime.” Mimey gives a thumbs-up. Looks like he likes the saltier flavor.

Last Ash heard they were still busy in Unova. And he didn’t feel like venturing out there on his own.

Alola’s League season is still a couple of months away. Plus his friends from Alola are busy doing their own thing.

Mallow had gone on an expedition with her brother, Ulu. Wanting to see first hand the cooking and taste of foods from around the world. Plus Mallow wanted to get more training done before League season starts.

Lana had gone on a fishing expedition with her dad.

Kiawe went on a solo training journey. He went to Sinnoh, MT. Coronet. Seeing if his fiery passion is enough to stand up to the cold.

Sophocles and Molayne are in Hoenn, more specifically Mossdeep City Space Center. Their expertise is needed in something that flies over Ash’s head.

Olivia was busy planning something special for her and Brock’s anniversary.

Kahili is in Galar for an invitational Golf tournament.

Acerola, If she wasn’t busy with her Elite 4 duties, she’s usually taking care of, and reading to the kids of Ula’Ula Island. Ash didn’t wanna pester her for battles.

Lillie. From being scared to touch Pokemon, to now going on a journey. After a couple of years of having a full family again, Lillie wanted to go on a Pokemon Journey on her own. Her reason was wanting to get stronger and better as a Trainer, she felt like she was being left behind as her friends got stronger. Mohn and Lusamine were supportive. While Gladion was apprehensive at first but quickly backed off, he saw he was acting like their mother once did, overprotective and smothering.

Liliie traveled all over the world, she started in Kanto because it was the closest, saying hi to him, Misty, and Brock. Maybe it was just luck or coincidence, Ash sometimes runs into Lillie when he is visiting a region for champion business, like challenges, exhibitions, or invitational tournaments. Ash always enjoyed his time catching up with Lillie. She is still on her Journey going from region to region to be a better Pokemon trainer.

Gladion, He has quite an interesting journey, he has changed a lot. Gladion initially wanted to get stronger to defeat Ultra Beasts and avenge his father, but changed his stance on them, seeing that Ultra Beasts aren’t inherently bad, just confused and scared by our world. Then they found Mohn, his and Lillie’s father alive and saved by a shiny Hihilego, which was another turning point for him, with the Aether family whole again, Gladion showed interest in becoming a researcher and scientist like his parents.

Hau was offered a Gym leader position, even an  Elite 4 title, but turned down those offers, he wanted to beat Ash and earn the Title of Alola champion. Thanks to Hau's prowess as a trainer he already has the right to challenge Ash for the title of Alola Champion. Hua challenged Ash several times, and Hua lost all of those matches against him. After losing again to Ash, Hua plans to travel around the world, to meet new challenges and Pokemon, and hopefully, when he comes back he will be stronger, that was what he promised Ash, And Ash will hold him to that promise. It has been a year and a half since Hua left Alola. And Ash misses Hua as a challenger and friend. So far no Manalo Conference winners have gotten past Alola’s Elite 4.

Paul, one of Ash’s strongest rivals. These days he has garnered quite a reputation as a top-level trainer. While he isn’t as harsh as he used to be with his Pokemon, he is still strict and aloof with them. Ash and Paul have battled a few times since he became the world Monarch. Paul always comes up short. Paul has been trying to change his attitude when it comes to affection towards Pokemon, it is a slow process, at least he is trying.

Richie still traveling and training. He even beat Drake and got into the Orange League Hall of Fame. Richie still hasn’t challenged Ash, Richie thinks isn’t ready to face him yet.

Stephan, seeing both Ash and Iris become champions, fired up his spirit, wanting to challenge them! He trained himself and his Pokemon to the limit, to catch up with Ash and Iris. Stephan won a Vertress conference, earning the right to challenge the Unova Elite 4. Stephan put up a good fight but lost to Marshal. He has a lot of training to do before he can challenge Ash or Iris.

Bianca is now Professor Juniper’s assistant. During her Journey, she came to a realization, batting just wasn’t for her, sure she had some wins, like Making it to Clubspotion’s semi-finals and earning her 8 badges to enter the Vertress conference. But Bianca saw that she mostly used brute force to win her battles, leading her to hit a bit of a slum. Bianca found her passion for research when she helped out Professors Juniper one day, and she discovers she has a knack for research, and she enjoys it. Now Bianca aims to be a Pokemon Professor.

Reminiscing about Bianca, got Ash thinking of another hyperactive blonde, Barry. He finally beat and surpassed his father, Palmer, the Tower Tycoon. Nowadays he travels from region to region looking for new challenges in hopes of getting stronger to beat Pual and Ash.

Camron has become a high-profile trainer, with an interesting reputation. Camron is still the same Camron Ash met all those years ago in Vertress City, airheaded. Almost always misses registrations or misplaces his invitations for tournaments. Earning him the nickname Quagsire, due to the similarities he shares with the Pokemon.

Sawyer is still on the road. Like many of Ash’s rivals, When he won the title of World Monarch, it fired many of them up, to get stronger to challenge Ash, Sawyer was no different. Sawyer's analytical and note-taking abilities, he has a popular column in A Trainer magazine and an online blog, discussing battles between high-profile trainers, and the Trainers themselves Pokemon types, natures, abilities, new trends, E.T.C

Alain is still working for Professor Sycamore, unlocking the secrets and mysteries of MEGA Evolution. They have made some discoveries. Alain still maintains his prowess in battle, even with his busier schedule. He is hoping to get stronger to challenge Leon and Ash and give them a good fight.

Mairin had grown up over the years, hitting a growth spurt, and growing her hair a bit longer. She is kind of an assistant to Professor Sycamore, helping around the lab. Mairin, studying to be a Pokemon doctor, nearly losing Chespin, now a Chesnaught, the experience has stuck with her even after several years, she doesn’t want anybody else to suffer the same experience she did. Alain, Professor Sycamore,  Dexio, and Sina are all helping her become a Pokemon Doctor.

Ash had run into Alain and Mairin several times over the years. When Ash visits Kalos, he pays a visit to Professor Sycamore’s lab to say hi to everybody, he usually finds both of them there, Alain in the lab conducting research, while Mairin in the Greenhouse taking care of the Pokemon there and studying. Ash also runs into them in other regions, when they're doing field research and investigations for Professor Sycamore.

Tyson was one of the first people to issue Ash with an official challenge after his vacation. Their battle was quite the spectacle. Their battle was held at, at the time, the newly built Viridian City Grand Stadium. Their battle marked the grand opening of the new Stadium, and oh boy the turnout was huge, many people came to see the newly crowned World monarch’s first official battle. While Tyson was no slouch, he had improved a lot since their last battle at the Evergrand conference and he even obtained a Keystone, and Megastones for some of his Pokemon. But ultimately losing, it was 3 to 6, not a close match by any means, but a spectacular one! Tyson and his Pokemon gave it their all, But Ash was now on a whole nother level. Tyson is training up, so he can challenge Ash again.

A surprising old rival Ash met again was Trip, not in a tournament, or as a challenger, but as a Reporter. Trip after his loss in Clubspotion, being defeated by Alder, and loss at the Ventress Conference took a look at himself, he had been cocky and arrogant at the start of his journey, and the losses and defeats he suffered changed him. Trip now works for a Trainer magazine owned by an acquaintance of Ash, Todd Snap.

Ash gave Trip an interview. They were both professional. Trip then asked Ash what was wrong with him in Unova, he wasn’t snarky or being a jerk about it, Trip genuinely wants to know why he acted so differently during his time in Unova. The Magazine was doing a special on Ash, his history, and achievements leading up to his becoming the world Monarch. Many were contributing to the special, and Trip saw some of Ash's history, how he got better and stronger with each new region and League he challenged, beating Elite 4-level trainers in the Battle Frontier. But in Unova, he regressed. Ash really didn’t have an answer. Well, with that out of the way the interview was done.

Leon nowadays is a teacher. After the World Coronation series, things were hectic for the local league committee, with them being too closely tied with Macro Cosmos, the international league committee stepped in to make sure Galar’s League season went off without a hitch. Leon lost to Gloria, a friend of Hop, and the press called her another prodigy, joining Ash and Iris, as another young champion of a region.

Ash and Leon have met up and hung out over the years, and sometimes Iris joins them. Leon gave tips to him and Iris on how to deal with the less fun part of being a champion. They just mostly wandered around, talked and caught up with each other, and had friendly battles. While Leon is longer a Champion, he is still one of the strongest trainers in the world, while he missed being Champion, he feels his time as one has come to an end. Ash even pretended to be Leon’s assistant, he saw how Leon taught his class, full of energy and enthusiasm. The kids loved him, Leon says he’s just interpreting his Master's teaching, passing them on in his own way.

One Person Ash really wanted to challenge, and rematch was Tobias. The mysterious man who swept that year's Lily of the Valley conference with Darkrai. Now that Ash has gotten stronger, and several of the Legendaries he had helped and made friends with during his journey, they were willing to fight alongside him, so he would be on equal footing with Tobias. When Ash tried to issue the challenge, a person from the League committee said to him, nobody has seen Tobias since that year’s Lily of the Valley conference. Tobias just stuck around till the closing ceremony and then gave his goodbyes to the officials, He hasn’t been seen since. That got Ash curious, little did he know, the answer to the mystery of Tobias would be somewhat tragic.

That was enough reminiscing though Ash. It has been a crazy journey for him and his friend. “Hmm. Let’s see, I’ve cleaned my room, trained with everybody at the lab, made lunch for myself and Pikachu, washed the dishes, and prepped some of the ingredients for tonight’s dinner.” As Ash listed off the things he did, he looked at the time on his phone. “And it's only 1:30! Ugh. There is nothing to do!”

“Pika” Pikachu climbed onto Ash’s shoulder, Pikachu then patted Ashe’s head. “Thanks, buddy.” He returned the favor by caressing Pikachu’s electrical patches. “Chuuuuu.”  Pikachu was pleased with the gentle massage. “Wish I was as carefree and relaxed as you, Pikachu. You know what's funny, I kinda miss Team Rocket.”

Ah, Team Rocket, Jessie, James, and Meowth. First meeting them in Viridian City’s’ Pokemon Center. After beating them the first time, they became Ash and Pikachu’s biggest stalkers from that point forward, until now. Ash kinda misses those three, sure they caused problems for him and his friends but they kept him and his Pokemon on his toes that give him a lot of ‘battle practice.’ Sure the trio were criminals, but they had their decent moments.

Ash’s last run-in with Team Rocket was two and a half years ago. And it wasn’t even with the Trio. Ash helped out Lance and the Police in a major bust, raiding a Team Rocket storage and distribution center, where a lot of stolen and illegally caught Pokemon from all over the world were being stored. They arrested a lot of grunts and a couple of admins that day. At the same time, several team Rock grunts heard about the raid, seeing an opportunity with the Police busy and wanting some payback, they tried to cause trouble, most of them were caught, except one group, who got away and stole a lot of evolution stones, the witnesses description of the suspected fit perfectly with Jessie, James, and Meowth.

Thanks to the antics of many evil and extremist Teams and individuals, who caused several crises, leading the authorities became more proactive in stopping and disbanding such organizations. Seeing that most of the major ones have already been disbanded and their leadership arrested, these days the authorities' main focus is making sure no new Evil Teams crop up, finding and arresting high-profile criminals on Hunet J’s level, and bringing down the last major crime Organization, Team Rocket. After the raid on their Storage facility, and failed retaliation, Team Rocket has gone underground.

Pikachu looked at Ash strangely, saying he misses the people who tried to steal him and many other Pokemon. “PI?” “Okay, It's weird for me to miss them. They have caused us so much trouble and problems, our loss at the Indigo Conference comes to mind, but they were such a constant in our lives. I’ve gotten used to them and their crazy antics. Maybe I just miss them because I’m bored.” “Pika.”

Ash with all the reminiscing has an idea. “Hey Pikachu. What do you think of another reunion Party with our friends? It has been four years since then.” “Pi-ka!”Pikachu excitedly approved, he also missed them.

“Hold your Ponytas buddy. Most of our friends are really busy, we have to coordinate and plan first, call and message them to see if there is an opening in their schedule.” “Chu.” Pikachu responded, sounding a bit disappointed.

While a reunion party was not happening for a long time. Ash tries to think of other topics to pass the time. Ash then thinks, why doesn’t he try and get a driver’s license? “Hey Pikachu, what do you think of me getting my driver’s license? I mean Garry has had his license since he was 10, and a car, with a cheerleading squad.” ‘Huh, wonder what ever happened to them.’ “I mean how hard could it be, I’m a fast learner. And the car I’m thinking about getting is one of those flying ones! What Wallace has. So what do you think bud?”

Pikachu thinks for a moment. He imagens Ash and him driving on the road, then with a press of a button, the car takes off and flies! Pikachu feels the wind in his electrical patches.

*Knock*

*Knock*

Before Pikachu could respond, somebody was at the door. “Wonder who that could be.” Ash got up from the couch, with Pikachu on his shoulder. Opening the door, Ash was greeted by a courier. “Mr. Ash Ketchum, special delivery. Please sign here.” The man politely asked, holding up a clipboard. Ash sights it. The man then hands him a letter. “Thank you.” “You’re welcome, Mr.Ketchum.”

Ash looks at the letter, he sees an emblem with a grape cluster and orange on the same vine. Ash makes his way back to the living room, Pikachu jumps off his shoulder and onto the coffee table. Ash opens the letter and begins to read it. “Dear Mr. Ash Ketchum. Hmmm… Hmmm… Uva Naranja Academy… Position.” A smile formed on Ash’s face.

Pikachu stares at Ash, wondering what the letter said. After Ash finished reading the latter Pikachu saw a smile on his trainer’s face. “Hey buddy, what do you think about us teaching?” “Pika?”

Now it’s evening. In the Ketchum household, they were entertaining guests: Processor Oak, Tracey, Garry, and Goh. Garry and Goh just got back from an expedition for Project Mew, they made a groundbreaking discovery, they found ruins on the Johto-Sinnoh border. The ruins have been named the Sinjoh ruins. To celebrate their discovery and the boys coming home Delia suggested this big dinner. They were shocked when Delia said Ash helped cock most of the food they are eating! They talk and catch up, Garry and Goh telling of their adventure, and how they stumbled on the ruins. Processor Oak and Tracey describe what's going on in the lab these days. Ash tells them about the ways he tries to alleviate his boredom. After dinner Ash announces his plans for the near future, showing them the letter offering him a Job as a teacher for Uva Naranja Academy in Paldea.

“Oh, those poor kids are gonna fail,” Garry said in a playful tone.

‘Don’t be too hard on Ash, Garry. They’ll probably have him teach a class of Slowpoke. Even Ash can handle that.” Goh jokingly said.

“Oh, ha ha ha guys. Real funny guys, sure I had my dumb moments back in the day, but I’ve grown up, I don’t make dumb mistakes as often.” Ash retorted

Tracy reads through the letter. “Hey Ash, it says you were recommended by Paldea’s League Chairwoman Geeta. Wait, isn’t she also Paldea’s Champion? When did you meet her?”

“Two years ago, Driftveil City during the world tournament. I bumped into her. We talked and had a friendly battle. I ask her why Paldea didn’t send a delegation to the World Tournament, Geeta said most of Paldea’s Gym leaders at the time were new and just settling in.” Ash answered.

“Ah, Paldea, such a unique region, with a rich history, culture, and having a bigger focus on education. Me and Samson  visited the region several times during our younger days.” Processor Oak said in a tone full of nostalgia.``Ash. Have you thought about the offer carefully? You’re a strong and capable trainer, but that doesn’t mean those skills will translate well to teaching. Teaching is different from lectures and demonstrations you have given in other Trainer schools.”

“Processor Oak is right, dear. Have you really thought about this? I know you're bored with nothing to do, but teaching a class full of kids is a big responsibility.”

“Processor, Mom, yes. I carefully thought about the offer. Sure I’m not the smartest guy around, I’ve made many stupid and dumb mistakes over the years, but I learned from those mistakes. I have a firm idea what to teach my prospective class.” Ash answered clearly and confidently.

After hearing Ash’s response, it was clear to both Processor Oak and Delia that Ash was serious about him becoming a teacher. “Hmm. I see.” Said Processor Oak. Delia just smiles at her son.

“So Ash, what are you gonna teach your future class?” Asked Tracy.

“I’m gonna be teaching Pokemon battle studies and care. For the care part, I’m gonna use your book as a base, Tracy, they're great, full of facts and tips on how to take care and raise Pokemon. And for the battle part, basic stuff like types, abilities, and strategies. But I’m not gonna settle for the basic stuff, no, after getting to know my class I plan to group students with different strengths, weaknesses, views, goals, and training styles. Hopefully, they can learn from each other, not just from me.” Ash smiles and looks toward Goh, Tracy, and Garry. “I attribute my success as a trainer to friends and rivals, teaching me, encouraging me, and keeping me on my toes. I hope the students will push each other to be their very best.”

“Thank you, Ash. And I owe a lot to you too, I got my idea for my thesis paper from you. I hope my books help you teach your future class.” Tracy said with a smile

“Woah, Ashy boy, I see you’re serious about this. I know you well enough, that once you set your mind on a task and goal you’ll do your best to achieve it.” Garry said with a subtle smile toward Ash.

“You’re welcome, Ash. I have to be one of your greatest inspirations, right? I mean we traveled tougher during your run for the title of World Monarch. So what have you learned from moi? My amazing Pokeball throwing skills, my prowess as a research fellow. Goh said with a smug expression while patting himself on the chest.

“Actually, Goh. I didn’t learn anything from you, but I had fun when we were research fellows. You have that in my books.” Ash said with a small chuckle.

“Hey!” cried Goh, but he knows Ash was just joking, right?

“Oh, My baby is growing up more and more. I’m so Proud! Looks like you’re off on another adventure, and what a coincidence, I got you a little gift that might be helpful to you. Mimey if you would.”

“Mime, Mime.”

Mimey using his psychic lifts up a small box from a shopping bag in the corner of the room. The box floats in front of Ash. He grabs the box and opens it to see what's inside, it’s a new Rotom phone.

“A new Rotom Phone. Thanks, Mom, but why? My old one still works fine, so why get me a new one?”

Garry taking a closer look at the new Phone was shocked. “Auntie... Is that what I think it is? How did you get one?!”

“I have my ways.” Giggled Delia.

“Still the same old Ash, if it has nothing to do with battles he doesn’t know about it. You should really pay more attention to the news and current events, not just the battle circuits.”  Processor Oak said with a small laugh.

“Oh, Ash. You have an old fashion sense when it comes to tech. I mean you never got a Pokegear, Pokenav, Poketch, Xtransceiver, or Holo caster. Maybe it was the best you never got a Holo caster considering what happened with Lysandre. But anyway, Ash, you used to only call from Pokemon Center, public, and home phones. Misty back then complained to me about how hard it was to talk and catch up with her.” Tracy said.

“Ash… You mean you don’t know that is! Oh boy! That new model Rotom Phone! It’s as powerful as a PC, you can switch Pokemon anywhere on the fly, as long as you have a signal and can act as a trade machine too! Me and Garry have been trying to get our own for months! They're always sold out, and the back order waiting list is insane!” Goh excitedly exclaimed.

“WOAH! Really!  Thanks again Mom! How did you get one? Garry and Goh said these Phones are always sold out, and there’s a long waiting list for one.”

“Again, my little secret,” Delia said again, with a giggle and wink.

“Hey, Ash. Let's test this thing. Let's see if it’s worth the hype.” Garry suggested.

“Don’t worry about me and Tracy having to run back to the lab. There are automated systems in place for withdrawing and depicting Pokemon.” Processor Oak explained.

“Alright! Let's test it out!” Ash first set up the Rotom Phone, entering his Trainer info and ID. After everything is set up Ash still has to look for the App. “Ah, there, found it!” As Ash selected the app the screen projected outwards, and he sees the interface is like a standard PC. “Let's see, Hmm, I’ll grab Torkoal from the box and deposit Pidgeot.” As Ash made his selection, it said to place the Pokeball in front of the Phone. The Pokeball floats in the air in front of the Phone, blue light quickly engulfs the Pokeball, it makes a few crackling sounds then it disappears. In a blink of an eye, a new Pokeball materialized. Ash grabs it and releases the Pokemon.

“Let's see if it works. Go Torkoal!” “Torkoal! Tor? Tor?” Torkoal seems a bit confused, he was with Infernape a moment ago. “Woah, it works!” As Torkoal heard his trainer's voice he quickly snaps his head around and sees Ash, the fire turtle rushed to his trainer “Torkoal! Tor tor kol!” “Yeah, glad to see you too Torkoal,” Ash says as he pats Torkoal’s head.

Both Garry and Goh were amazed and a bit jealous. Quick and direct access to the PC storage system, being able to switch out any Pokemon at any time and Place. It’s such a useful tool. Sadly for both of them, they were on the waiting list for their own new Rotom Phones. “Lucky.” said Goh.

“So Ash, when are you leaving for Paldea?” Delia asked. While it was nice to have her son here at home, she knows Ash has an adventurous nature. And seeing how serious he is about teaching she can’t help but be proud of him. He’s growing up more and more.

“Friday. So I still have one day before I leave for Paldea. So, Garry, Goh. Up for a Pokemon Battle tomorrow?”

“Heck yeah! I’ve been practicing my battling skills. I think I can take you down!” Goh excitedly accepted the challenge.

“I’m game. Prepare to lose your crown, Ash.” Garry said with a smile.

“As our hero enjoys the rest of the night with friends and family. Ash gets ready to start a new adventure in Paldea. What new challenges await our Pokemon master, and what new friends and Pokemon will he meet?”

Notes:

Thanks for reading my story. It’s my first time writing and Sorry if it’s gargled in some places English is my second language. As a long-time fan fiction reader I decided to write my own stories because I couldn’t find fics with the criteria I like, or I find stories I really like but are dormant or abandoned.

I’m gonna have a little trouble with future chapters going forward. The first reason, I to go into detail with descriptions. It's a me thing. Heck, I had to write sections of this first chapter due to me going overboard details.

Second. I don’t own a Nintendo Switch or Scarlet and Violet. I’ve only watched my favorite Poketubers playthroughs, and Shiny hunting in Area Zero for a friend. So I’m limited on the geography of Paldea, so sorry If I get some details wrong.

In this fic, Ash aged on his Journey! Just a little change I decided to make. He turned 11 during Kalos, and 12 during Journeys.

Nemona. She's gonna be fun to write. But It gonna be kind of tough to write some of her lines in Spanish, sorry If I make a mistake or it’s grammatically incorrect because I will be using Google translate. And do any of you guys know what Nemona’s gauntlet is called? I know it helps her throw Pokeballs, so is it just a sports bracer or what?

Dendra is just gonna be a P.E. teacher.

explaining some of the decisions I made with Ash’s friends and rivals.

Dawn getting the nickname “Royal Tailor.” Dawn, after having enough skill to make her own dresses, I think she would also make clothes for her friends, and her friends happened to be really high-profile people.

May, Serena, and Lisia making an Idol group. It was their Contest dresses that gave me the Idea!

I based Tracy’s thesis paper on the friendship mechanics of the game.

The reason why I credited Clemont for the Rotom technology, The Sun and Moon artbook, It shows Clemont tinkering and working on the Rotomdex.

Why is Gladion a researcher/scientist? I saw a video on the canceled Pokemon Star(or was it Stars?) I saw artwork of Gladion in lab gear. That inspired my decision with Gladion in this fic.

Trip being a reporter for a magazine owned by Todd Snap. I read a fic where Ash’s friends and acquaintances go to Alola to see Ash after his Manalo Conference win, Trip wanted a scope on Alola’s new Champion. That's where the idea came from, I don’t remember the fic’s name.

A funny little headcanon I have for Tobias, he isn't human, he is a Pokemon in disguise sent by Arceus to make sure Ash loses to stay on track with whatever plan He has for Ash.

And With Legends Arceus, explaining that certain legendaries have avatars copies of themselves for trainers to "catch." So with that Info, I think Tobias is a Darkrai and the one he's using in battle is just an avatar XD

Yes, some friends and rivals got more detail than others, it is not that I hate or dislike some characters, I just had more ideas for some of them. And sorry If I missed somebody, The anime has a lot of characters.

As you saw, I combined the two academies. I’m going to implement the game protags as fraternal twins, and the two of them will have the Box Legendary. And Arven’s parents didn’t divorce, yay. But that means Arven has double the childhood trauma!

I plan to do Omakes chapters with other characters later on.

Ash’s Pokemon that can and want to evolve, have Evolved. So most of Ash’s Pokemon are fully evolved with the exception of the usual suspects, Pikachu and Bulbasaur.

For Ash’s Paldea team. Primeape is definitely going to be on it, he was so dirty in the Anime, no reunion, just a tiny quick cameo in the fight against Leon's Charizard.

I’m thinking of giving Ash a Cyclizar, to complement Koraidon and Miraidon’s themes of past, and future with the present with Cyclizar.

Toedscool, I think it would be fun for Ash to have Convergent Mon.

Dunsparce, Ash really wanted one in Johto, now is a great time to get one with Dunsparce’s new evolution!

And for the last member… I got nothing. How about you guys? Any suggestions for the sixth member of Ash’s Paldea team?

Well, again thanks for reading my silly fic, I hope to see you again!
