Chapter Text
Skyla clutched the fancy blue envelope in her hands as she stood in Liyue Harbor, her eyes trained to the Mountains of Dragonspine.
Was it a mistake? Taking advantage of Ayato’s invitation as an excuse to leave Mondstadt?
No.
Skyla quickly shook her head of any doubts that lingered in her mind.
She needed to leave Mondstadt, she needed to find herself again without the noisy background of nobles trying to coax their way into her good graces.
She wanted to find her identity again, not labeled by her affiliation with Diluc or Kaeya.
Inazuma was the way to go for this.
Ayato’s invitation to a medical conference was the perfect excuse to leave Mondstadt without arousing too much suspicion amongst the nobility.
“Skyla? Is that you?”
The adventurer turned around in surprise, “Shenhe? It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
“It has,” A small smile graced Shenhe’s face. “Are you visiting? I still haven’t done my end of the ‘bet’. We can go to any restaurant you like, as promised. Or if you wish, visit Master first. She has been wanting to see you again.”
Skyla chuckled in return. “That bet was years ago and didn’t I technically lose at first? No, you’re not treating me to food this time.”
“But it happened in the end, a Blonde Traveler and a fairy, they became my friend just like you said. Even if it was past the original deadline we had in store,” Shenhe tilted her head in the side.
Skyla sighed and shook her head back and forth. “Let’s just go visit Cloud Retainer for now, I’m sure she wants me for my ‘otherworldly’ food knowledge.”
“Are you doing the ‘changing topic’ conversation technique again?” Shenhe replied with a deadpan expression as Skyla attempted to move them along.
“Maybe,” The adventurer playfully shrugged with a cheeky smile as she hooked their arms together. “But come on, let’s not keep her waiting too long.”
“Weren’t you just busy right now?” Shenhe raised an eyebrow. “You seemed focused on those mountains.”
Skyla paused momentarily, taking one last look at Mondstadt before turning her back to the scenery. “I’m good for now.”
With a heavy heart, she silently apologized to Diluc and Kaeya for leaving them behind.
