Not totally Gone

Chapter 19: Booming city

Chapter Text

It was a peaceful afternoon at Biniki Bottom, Spongebob was busy reading a book with his pet snail cuddling next to him.

Usually the streets were quiet, but not this time, the sounds of cars and people talking were heard outside of the streets. Making the yellow sponge confused at the noises, he went to the window, "Huh?" With a look outside, Spongebob gasped happily, "Gary! Look!" Gary got off from his napping spot and looked outside.

The once empty streets were now full of life again. Cars were driving along the road, sea monsters were now on the sidewalks along with demons, it was like the city going back to it's former glory.

When word of the desolate city reached some sea monsters and demons, they decided to go to the city, even taking some houses for themselves.

Most agreed that the citizens that once lived there were either dead or abandoned the city, so it was free real estate.

"I want this to be done soon."

Vox was bringing a new entertainment center to the city, and he decided to bulldoze some family homes to make room for the tower.

Workers went inside the houses and began throwing out any items in the house that weren't needed.

"Got most of the items from the first house out"

"Good....what do you mean most? I need that house completely empty before I can remove it!"

Another worker whistled towards the TV demon who looked at them, "What is it?"  They showed a box with a beautiful shell necklace, "Found it in the attic hidden away from the rest of the items we have already collected."

"Does this mean.....?"

"The first house is fully empty and ready for demolition"

Vox smirked and snapped his fingers, signaling it was time to begin working. The workers went to destroy the first house as the other houses were soon ready to be demolished.

The peaceful rolling hills of Jellyfish were the only place that was completely empty aside from the soft buzzing of the Jellyfish.

Dipper was watching the creatures buzzing peacefully with Luca, "Wow, this was a really good idea Dipper. I have never seen a jellyfish colony before!"

Pine Tree nodded while sketching the colony in his notebook. When they heard the city springing to life, Mason wanted to have some quiet time from the cars speeding by. A young sea monster who was home from school for the summer wanted to join him in Jellyfish.

"You know it's crazy that the city was just a ghost town just some days ago. Now look at it, it's becoming alive again."

Lucas nodded, "I know not every sea monster is going to move here, but I wanted to see the city."

"Nice!"

"Oh look! A golden jellyfish!"

Sandy was watering her acorn trees, her mind wracked with worry.

It had already been over a week, and Ms. Cheeks still hadn't told her friend the truth about what happened.

Everytime Sandy thought about talking about the plan, her heart began pounding like a drum, and she'd end up getting cold feet.

Ms Cheeks knew that if she told the truth.....Spongebob would be heartbroken, but she couldn't make up a lie either, as lies would always spiral out of control, no matter how little they seemed.

"Oh, what do I do?"

The squirrel kept thinking about what to do, moving on from watering to enjoying the underwater sun. One fact she did know for sure was that she needed to make a decision as soon as possible because the citizens could come back any day now.

Once the citizens have come home from their "vacation", the truth will be revealed to everyone staying here.

Especially to Spongebob.....
