Chapter 1: Game Start

Chapter Text

This wasn’t part of the plan. Falling in love with Tenna was accidental. Yet, he did. Spamton G. Spamton, number one salesman, fell in love with Mr. Ant Tenna. From that relationship, he laid a Pipis. This one was different from the usual Pipis he laid before. Those were just unfertilized fodder to be used as bombs or food. This Pipis had more weight to it, an inherent warmth to it, and smelled like him as well as Tenna. So, when everything falls apart, Spamton keeps this Pipis close to him. Places the blue egg on his chest and keeps it in place with a soft red blanket he swiped before leaving TV World. Six years have passed like this. Spamton running around, hiding from other Darkners, all while trying to keep his egg safe. He found that he was treated slightly kinder when he had the Pipis strapped to his chest with what remained of his feathers fluffed up to the max. His puppet body was definitely different, but a few old traits remained. He couldn’t help but be thankful for it.

Four years ago, the egg hatched. A small, chirping baby pushed her way out of the cracked shell. She was a tiny little thing with fuzzy, white downy feathers and a long-pointed nose only adding to her cuteness. An electric current seemed to buzz underneath her skin which gave her a slightly golden glow. That was where the former Addison got her name from, little miss Goldie. Spamton adored his baby. However, that didn’t erase the painful similarities the little baby girl had with Tenna. Two tiny antennae on her head, an HDMI cord tail, tiny fangs, and no visible eyes. Spamton learned to live with the pain of that. Even as Goldie grew older and she started to mimic the facial expressions of the father she had never met. He was…okay to live like this, running his garbage shop in the alley with his little daughter by his side. He didn’t like that his baby girl was living in the trash but what other choice did he have? It’d take a miracle for his circumstances to change.

Goldie scampers through the streets of Cyber City with her antennae twitching on occasion. She can smell new people, new monsters, and that meant new customers! It’s been so long since something new happened, this is so exciting! Her tail sways eagerly as she tracks down the new smells. Three figures come into view. Prince Ralsei, a common customer for her, is walking in between a blue-skinned human and a purple lizard monster. Goldie chirps before rushing up to the group with a little hand-drawn pamphlet, “Hello Mr. Ralsei! You’ve got friends!” Ralsei smiles sweetly back, “H-hello, Goldie. Yeah, t-the human Lightner is named Kris, and the other Lightner is named Susie.” Goldie hums before thrusting her paper towards the lady named Susie, “Come to my and my daddy’s shop! Uh, please.” She tacks the ‘please’ on, recalling her daddy teaching her about manners. Even without visible eyes, the group could practically feel Goldie’s eyes go wide with pleading, “Pretty please? We don’t have much but we gotta have something you’ll want.” The Lightner, Kris, steps forward with an unreadable expression and looks over her small form.

Her golden glow dims under the scrutiny before Kris gives a tiny smile and takes the pamphlet, “…okay. We will.” Goldie returns to full shine with a big toothy smile, “Really?! Okay, okay, I gotta go help Daddy set up the shop, see you soon!” With that, she runs away with small sparks coming off her heels. She can’t help it when she’s this excited. Taking shortcuts by shrinking and growing back to normal, she bursts into their dumpster home. Goldie can feel her feathers poof out from static electricity as she shouts, “Daddy! New customers are coming! C’mon, we have to set up!” Spamton grunts when he stands up, his joints clicking angrily, then he slowly walks over to where Goldie is shoving items into old plastic shopping bags. Although his body is in pain, his daughter’s enthusiasm never fails to make him perk up, “[Alright, alright, alright!], W-WHAT’S GOT YOU SO [VRRRRROOM] UP, SUNSHINE?” Still, he helps pack even as he asks the question. He didn’t have the heart to tell his baby ‘no’ most days. Not when she asks for so little.

Goldie spins around to point at her daddy with a victorious smile, “Mr. Ralsei brought new people to the city, and they said they would visit our shop! Oh…I hope they can follow my map.” She shrinks a little at the realization. Spamton pats his daughter on her head, “I CAN [100% guaranteed!] THAT THEY’LL [I will find my way~~].” Goldie perks back up and grabs one of the bags. She glances over her shoulder with a slightly sad smile, “I know you’re having a bad pain day, Daddy. I can get all the inventory to the shop while you walk over.” He raised such a sweet girl. Spamton ruffles her feathers, chuckling at her protesting chirp, before picking up a bag, “NONESENSE [princess], I CAN [pull your weight!] AND HELP SET UP. IT’S OUR SHOP.” Normally, Goldie would zap-jump to get to places faster, but she walks at a steady pace to allow her daddy to keep up. It took a few minutes to arrive and, at her insistence, Spamton takes a seat behind the counter while Goldie arranges their inventory.

The door creaks open. Only one Lightner comes in, but Spamton recognizes this Lightner even if they are much older now, “K-KRIS, YOU [little sponge], I SEE YOU’VE [new discovery] DARK WORLDS.” Goldie pops her head up with her tail wagging, “Mx. Kris! You came just like you said you would! Hang on, I gotta grab my stool. Be right back.” She runs off deeper into the old tunnel with audible vibrations coming from her excitement. Her puppet father chuckles, “SO [Full of energy!], AIN’T SHE?” Spamton’s face goes grim, “KRIS, I NEED YOUR HELP. BUT YOU CAN’T TELL GOLDIE.” Kris arches an eyebrow but gestures for him to continue, “LISTEN. IN THE [Deep Abyss] OF QUEEN’S [Mansion]. [[A Great Deal]] IS WAITING For [[A LimiTed Time Only!]]. A HEAVEN-PIERCING [[Workout-Ready Body]]. [[Designed BY The Classics You’ve Come To Expect ©1997]]. KRIS THAT [Little Nipper] IS OUR [One-way Ticket] TO MAKE YOU [Big]. MAKE ME [Big]. IN A WAY THAT I CAN FINALLY GIVE MY DAUGHTER A GOOD LIFE. THE WAY IS LOCKED BY [High Quality Encryption]. YOU WILL NEVER GET INSIDE WITHOUT A KEYGEN. [BUY] THE KEYGEN FROM ME, UNLOCK THE BASEMENT, AND GET THAT EmptyDisk.”

Kris pauses with a flat face, “…fine, but I need you to tell me about the Knight.” Spamton hums, “THE KNIGHT, HUH? KRIS, DID YOU KNOW THAT THE KNIGHT…No, I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to—AAAAAAGH!” Kris flinches as the puppet man glitches uncontrollably. Some voice clips, of Spamton’s real voice, slip through with soft whimpers of “Mike…” and “…can anyone hear me? Help…”. His glasses fuzz out with static. The Human Lightner stares in shock as Spamton collapses with his glasses completely black. They startle at the sound of quick little feet and a loud gasp, “Daddy! Oh, not again!” Goldie rushes past Kris to pull her daddy’s head into her lap. She frowns as she looks up at Kris with furrowed brows, “I’m sorry. Daddy’s been having more glitches and seizures lately. Um, I can sell you stuff still. Let me just get Daddy comfortable.” Kris silently moves to help Goldie. Once Spamton is tucked into a blanket with a pillow, Goldie happily sells the Lightner a Keygen and a Bowtie. Waving them off, the young girl puts the inventory away then uses her power to zap the little family back to their dumpster home. She couldn’t wait to get to see those Lightners again.
