Chapter 15: Forever and Always
The realization that Katsuki wants to spend the rest of his life with Kirishima doesn’t happen during some profound moment. There’s no lightbulb over his head, no crescendoing orchestra playing in the background as the sun rises over the ocean and waves splash against the rocky cliff while the sea breeze blows through his hair and gets salt water in his mouth.
It happens on public transit.

“You guys share clothes,” Kaminari finally broke the silence. “Bakugou’s literally wearing your jacket right now, man.”
Bakugou shoved his hands in said jacket’s pockets. “Eijirou’s clothes are warmer.”
“You two cuddle like, all the time,” Mina said.
Eijirou raised an eyebrow at her. “Meens, you’ve known me since middle school. You know I’m touchy with my friends.”
“You guys use each other’s given names,” Kaminari pointed out.
“You guys can call me Eijirou too,” he said, “and I can call you by your given names.”
“None of you better fucking dare call me by my given name,” Katsuki said with a glare.
“That’s okay. We weren’t gonna use your family name either, Blasty.” Kaminari stuck his tongue out at him, making Katsuki swipe at him with a growl, but Kaminari just jumped out of range as he laughed.
“Anyway,” Sero cut in, shaking his head at their antics. “Kiri, you literally kissed Bakugou on the forehead like, ten minutes ago.”~
Kirishima and Bakugou have been dating for years, and everybody has noticed except for them. To make them realize, their friends take matters into their own hands.

Katsuki jolted, and his face burned as fingers trailed along the exposed skin of his back under his cape, a warm arm wrapping around his waist and tugging him the short distance into an equally-warm side. He looked up at Kirishima, the redhead already looking back at Katsuki with his usual cheerful smile as he tilted his head. “This okay?” He drummed his fingers along Katsuki’s waist to indicate what he meant.
“Fine,” Katsuki mumbled, and he quickly looked away to hide the red flush high on his cheeks.
And that was his other…situation.

When dragon instincts make Kirishima act super cuddly, Bakugou decides to roll with it to help his friend. He doesn't expect to fall in love with him in the process.

Eijirou couldn’t have heard right. “Huh?”
“Let’s do something,” Bakugou repeated, and nope, he heard right. “Whatever you wanna do, let’s do it.”
Eijirou balked, opening and closing his mouth as he tried to get words out. “Are- a-are you sure? You don’t have to force yourself to do this, you probably have your own plans for the break and I don’t want you to change them for my sake-"
“Kirishima.”
Eijirou clamped his mouth shut. Bakugou was giving him an impatient look, but beyond it Eijirou could see the hint of nerves peeking through the determined red of his eyes. “I don’t do shit I don’t wanna do. If you don’t want to do anything, we don’t have to, but I’m asking anyway: do you want to do anything to celebrate the holidays?”

When Kirishima is sad about missing out on holiday celebrations with his family due to a snowstorm, Bakugou steps up to help him feel better, but the impromptu celebration ends up helping them both

Furrowing his brow, Katsuki tugged the bundle of clothes along the rack towards the front, revealing one of those cheap garment bags you get from a clothing store tucked away in the very back. Weird. Eiijrou didn’t usually have clothes fancy enough to warrant using this kind of bag. He usually left his dress shirts to hang uncovered with his regular clothes.
Curiosity had Katsuki rolling up the garment bag, and his eyebrows rose in surprise. “You still have our suits?”

It was pretty small, fitting into the palm of his hand, and the red wrapping paper crinkled softly as Katsuki rotated it in his grasp. He’d bought it weeks ago, way earlier than he usually got gifts for this sort of thing, and after wrapping it himself it sat tucked away in his bedside drawer, the mere knowledge that it was there making him feel jittery whenever he was in the room.
Because it was different. Way different from the presents Katsuki usually got Kirishima for their little gift giving tradition, way different from the core meaning of the present that had kick-started all of this.

Every year, Bakugou and Kirishima give each other a gift based around a significant moment from the past year of their lives. This year, Bakugou decides to do something a little different.

Eijirou unlocked his phone and went to his calendar, counting the days between their birthdays, and when he landed on July 18 his eyes widened, and he propped himself up to look over at Bakugou. “Dude, tomorrow’s our middle birthday!”
Bakugou looked up at him then, turning in his desk chair a bit to face him better and send Eijirou a confused look. “Our what?”
“Middle birthday! Y’know, the halfway point between our actual birthdays?” Eijirou could feel the excitement welling up inside of him again, his cheeks hurting from the force of his growing smile, his fingers twitching to act. This was extremely short notice, but he wasn’t gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. “We should do something!”

Muscle memory carried Katsuki down the hall to the bedroom. The door was slightly ajar, but he would’ve still been able to hear the rumbling snores inside if it had been completely closed.
Eijirou was sprawled on his back in the bed, his mane of red hair spread across the pillow and the covers pushed down to his waist to reveal a bare chest littered with scars from years of hero work that rose and fell with each breath.
The sight was tempting; Katsuki itched to climb into bed then and there, to wrap himself in the warmth and comfort of his husband and finally release himself from the long-ass night.

That…that was Bakugou Katsuki. A chemical engineer, if Eijirou could remember right, in many of the general chemistry classes he’d taken back in his first year and was now probably in the labs just as much as Eijirou was, if not more.
Yet here he was now, in the student center art studio and far away from a chemistry lab, dressed similarly to Midoriya with his spiky blond hair pushed back from his forehead and his own apron on. He didn’t spare any of the other students a glance as he left crates of supplies—empty plastic buckets, sponges, what looked like a variety of carving tools—in the middle of the circle before leaving again, not once noticing Eijirou watching him the entire time.

Kirishima Eijirou, he had introduced himself when Deku had saddled them together for this shitty delivery to some witch up the mountain. All bright shitty hair, sharp teeth, and seemingly unperturbed by the weather given that he’s been strolling around without a shirt in the fucking snow, an antithesis to the tortoise halfway tucked into his shell, looking content on the mattress.
Kirishima smoothed a hand over the bumpy shell, smiling down at the tortoise with so much love in his eyes, like he didn’t have the most inconvenient daemon ever. He didn’t seem to care at all about the shitty hand life had dealt him, that didn’t even match with him.
Katsuki’s travel companion didn’t make sense.

And the expression on Katsuki’s face matched, the softest Izuku had ever seen him. He said something inaudible from the distance, and as if Izuku wasn’t being shocked enough that night, Katsuki tugged the stranger closer by his vest to kiss him on the lips.
And it all clicked into place, why Katsuki made these trips at the expense of his sleep, why he made them so frequently.

It had to be Kirishima to be braced in Midoriya and Iida’s grasps, the draw of their power thrumming around him like a hopeful heartbeat to egg him on, to push him to be the sturdy rock that protected them as they launched into the night sky, to reach his hand down to the one person who needed protecting the most.
He could’ve cried when it was him that made Bakugou blast up to them without hesitation, his grin matching the one that threatened to tear Eijirou’s face in half, it was so wide, as sweaty palm met sweaty palm.
