Summary
On his fourth attempted casting, he managed to create a small sphere of blue light hovering above his hand, and he breathed out a sigh of relief, only to turn and see just what exactly he had summoned.
It was a vast thing, taking up the entire span of his living room. It had too many limbs, and not enough, gripping onto his couches, his table, his bookshelves. It was darker than the air around it, absorbing the light, swallowing it up in its terrifying, impossible to understand bulk. There were eyes, eyes along its entire frame, piercingly green, staring into his soul, tearing away at his life force, it knows what he has done and it knows what he will do, it is all knowing and all powerful and–

Summary
“Hey, it’s not fair, you have bigger wings than I do!” Jimmy protested, out of breath.
“Mhmm, sure.” Grian laughed again, leveling off into a glide, his best friend swooping over to his side.
“It’s true!” Jimmy flapped his wings once to help him stay level with him. “Canaries have way smaller wingspans than hawks!”
“Sure, Timmy.” Grian made a face at him.
Jimmy was about to retort back when the sky shook.

Summary
“Sunshine?” Scar asked, and he looked up to see him across the room on the couch. If the wildness of his magic had been powerful when he was locked up, it was now overwhelming here in the fae realm, rippling through the air and sending shivers down Grian’s spine. He’d made him promise not to harm him or try to enslave him before he’d gone with him to the fae realm, so he wasn’t too worried about that, but there was still a level of authority that came with being such a wild thing. It scared him.
“Yeah?” He replied, tucking his hands up against his chest.
“You’re shaking.”

Summary
Martyn limped through the woods, biting the inside of his cheek to keep himself from crying out as his leg throbbed with agony, blood dripping sluggishly into his socks. It had been a stupid idea to go hiking on his own, he knew this, it was like the first rule of hiking. Never go hiking alone. Or at the very least, tell someone where you were hiking and when you should be expected to get back.
He wanted nothing more than to rest, to lie down on the path and close his eyes, letting himself fall asleep. But he couldn't, he had to keep going, get to a hospital before his leg got infected and he died alone and angry in the woods, with no one knowing or caring that he was gone.
He had pulled all nighters before, many times, but never after hiking for several hours, and never while in agonizing pain. It felt like his mind was turning into mush, his normally quick thoughts slowing into something sluggish and dull. It came to a head when he stopped to lean against a tree to breathe and saw a wolf staring at him through the undergrowth.

Summary
He was trapped, he could hear the screaming cheers of the crowd surrounding him, he was back in the ring, he was going to die. He could feel his life slipping through his fingers, he couldn’t breathe, he was trapped. Again.
He tried to squirm free, to struggle out of the hold, but the weight on his chest only grew stronger. He could see his attacker now, could see them looming over him in the dark. It was the last person he had killed, dull brown eyes glaring down at him, brown hair falling into their face. They were furious, their expression twisted in pure hatred. In an instant, their features shifted, brown hair transforming into blond, cheekbones becoming more pronounced, eyes lightening. Grian had killed them too, their blood had spilled over his hands. He had killed them all, and now they were getting their revenge. It was only right that he died by their hands.

Summary
"May I have this dance?"
Grian looked up from the ground to see, to his surprise, the prince of Scarland bowing shallowly in front of him, his hand outstretched for him to take. There was a twinkle in his green eyes, brought out by the purple suit he was wearing, and the crown on his head was slightly askew.
"Sure." Grian took his hand delicately, letting him lead him out onto the dance floor. His heart slightly picked up at the idea that he was dancing with a Prince, someone who could have him arrested or killed or banished with the flick of a wrist. However, he wasn't about to let himself get intimidated by a rich person, prince or no.

Summary
The Baron, noticing his gaze, grinned. "You've noticed my display then. I collected it from the rain forests down in Mazatec, tracked it down for its gorgeous feathers. Here, allow me."
He lifted a golden stick from where it was resting against his throne, then stuck it through the bars of the cage, jabbing the poor creature inside. It let out a chirp of pain and immediately spread its bright wings, revealing a miserable looking person behind them, head hung low and strawberry blond hair covering their face. They were wearing what looked like a curtain wrapped around them artistically, but with the cold air coming down over the mountains, they must be freezing. Not to mention that they were from the Mazatec Empire, a naturally warm place.
"It's gorgeous, isn't it?" The Baron withdrew the stick, setting it back down by his side. "One of my finest hunting trophies."
Scar made a non-committal hum, schooling his face into something calm rather than furious over the treatment of what was clearly a human (or close enough to it) being. In only a few short minutes, they wouldn't have to be trapped anymore.

Summary
"It's okay, it's okay, I've got you."
How long has he been crying for? How long has he been screaming? How long had he been alone for?
Is he still alone?
"Hey, hey, Scar, look at me, look at me, it's okay, I've got you."
It hurts. His heart feels as though it's splitting in two, shattering into a thousand pieces. He is so alone. He has always been so alone. He isn't filled with loss, because that would mean he had something to lose. No. He's always been alone.
It hurts.
"Scar, please, you're scaring me."
Loneliness is not a new thing for him. It has been with him his whole life. It follows him closely, clinging to his shoulders in a way that cannot be shaken. He is alone and he always will be. No one cares. No one will ever care. He will never make the connections he wants. He will never grow old alongside another person. He will never be someone's most important person. No matter how much he wants it, how much he craves the feeling of being wanted, being loved, he will never get it in the way he needs.
That's how it's always been. That's how it will always be.
Alone. Forever.
