Description:

My attempt at rewriting the songs from Hamilton to create a musical telling the life story of the one, the only, Captain James T. Kirk.

This owes inspiration both to the live production of the musical I saw back in January, and to the two brilliant fanvid makers RhaegalKS and KeyDog who first proved that Hamilton songs just fit so well with the stories of Star Trek, and Kirk's in particular.
And this makes sense when you consider it in more depth: both men experienced suffering in their childhood that shaped the person they became; they both achieved great things in their respective worlds; both were flawed individuals who made less-than-perfect choices at times; both went through great highs and lows in their careers; both lost a child in a way that was partly their fault (in Kirk's case, he lost two, although one was unborn); and both were outlived by the person who had always stood by their side, who ensured that their life's work was preserved and that they were not forgotten by the next generation.

For the nerds like me who are fans of Star Trek and Hamilton - maybe you'll enjoy this unholy mashup of the two!

Notes:

This series covers events (and spoilers) from The Original Series and the TOS movies, as well some from the AOS movies - where they overlap because of Spock Prime's presence in the Kelvin timeline. I haven't seen season 2 of SNW, so I cannot include any events in Kirk's life as depicted in that show (apologies to any ardent SNW fans).

I try to work exclusively within the canon of Star Trek; however, where information is unavailable, I have included my own headcanons. I may also take slight artistic liberties to better fit events to a particular song - my version of "It's Quiet Uptown" in which Jim and Carol find forgiveness in the aftermath of David's death springs rather forcefully to mind as an example of this.

Warning: there are references to canonical deaths, as well as to the events of Tarsus IV.
I feel I must also warn readers now that I most likely will not be able to manipulate every single song from Hamilton into one about Jim - that, I fear, is beyond my talents - but if there are any that you truly wish to see, leave a comment for me and I will do everything in my power to make your dream a reality.
