Scott sighed, then nodded. “3 lives. Green, yellow, and red.”
Worry built up in Jimmy’s face. “Oh gosh.”

Scott and Jimmy get married, before their world goes into a 3rd Life setting, and they have to survive together (until tim dies), in a world full of betrayal, murder, arson, and more:D

Welcome to 'Second Life', a death-based game. You all have been brought here to play a deathmatch based on specific merits. The rules are simple; you will each be assigned two lives. When you die, you lose one of your lives. If you kill someone else, you gain their life. For simplicity, there will be a color system. Red for one life, Yellow for two, and Green for more than that. Reds can attack anyone for any reason, and may become hostile, while Yellows can only attack Greens freely, and Reds for self-defence, and Greens are only allowed self-defence. Once you run out of lives, you lose. Alliances are key in this game, but trust no one. Good luck.

Summary
The cactus ring scene from 3rd life.
After the Battle of the Red Desert, Scar and Grian are left as the sole two survivors. In order for the series to conclude, one of them must die. After Grian passes up an opportunity to consensually slay Scar and take the win, the two set up a ring of cactus on the desert's hilltop beside the ruins of their keep.

Living in the desert was...nice. At least Grian thought so. Him, his sister Gem, and their cats all lived together in the tower upon Monopoly Mountain, under the Watcher's orders and voices, for their enjoyment.With the loveable mess that was Scar. He was there too. Because of a little prank that left Grian forever in his debt and involved in his chaos. Okay, MAYBE Grian didn't totally hate Scar.
He didn't hate him at all. He actually quite liked him.He was just a bit of a let down at times

As if summoned by the dark thoughts swirling through his servant’s head, a gray-skinned figure appears at the top of the hill. He’s got a bee on a lead, and Grian’s teeth drag into a grimace just looking at him.
He could kill me. If he’s got an anvil or something, he could kill me. Or Scar could just whack him with his sword. Scar keeps saying that he won’t, but words are meaningless. Reds have no loyalty. No shame. That’s all turned off so they can play a wild game.
Grian brings clean water up Monopoly Mountain. Scar watches from the top.
