They all take turns running the register, sorting donations, pricing items, and doing archival duties. Jon still reads the statements though and the others do archival research.Rules:
1. Do Not take items from behind the register. These items are very dangerous.
2. No murder or maiming. This includes, but is not limited to, cutting, hitting, burning, shoving people into the Lonely, manipulating or compelling people into dangerous or harmful situations, turning people’s skin into book pages, taking people’s bones or putting in new bones without enthusiastic consent, filling people with worms or spiders, burying people, infecting people with disease, and gun violence. This means you, Elias.
3. No reading Leitners in the store or surrounding parking lot even after purchase. Take them home and ruin only your own lives please, thanks!

Summary
The little girl that stands in place of what was Sasha looks as scared as the small Jon, and Martin moves towards her quickly. His arm wraps around her torso, and he crouches with the little ones. The laughter is overpowering, it's loud, and oh, the kids are crying. He shushes them, pats their backs, mumbles to them, but it’s no use. He looks up at Tim for some sort of communication, but he’s staring at something. Martin follows his gaze to see something shiny.
The indecisive light hits a wet limb. A bony shoulder, turned away, vibrating and twitching. There were too many points in it, too many places for it to bend and swivel. Martin scoops the children in his arms, making a run for the stairs while that thing is facing a separate door.
Tim doesn’t move.
OR
Jon gets leitnered into a child at a very convenient time, not!sasha follows suit

It didn’t take long for the Leitner to have an effect on Jon, the statement he was reading no longer satisfying his hunger. His breaths are ragged and uneven as a burning heat bubbles in his gut. He doesn’t understand what that Leitner did to him, but he’s damn sure that whatever it was isn’t going away soon. Jon can’t even finish the statement he was recording, too hot and sweaty to focus. Turning the tape recorder off only seems to make him feel worse, suddenly sweating more as the intense heat inside of him grows. The tightness of his pants doesn’t stop, a burning pain hitting Jon every second he doesn’t take care of himself.

People, who up until that point had been thought to be either missing, or dead to be exact.

Judging a book by its bookplate might be effective most of the time, but it’s hardly a guarantee of quality. Relying on a man like Jurgen Leitner to curate your experiences is like asking a blind man which way the wind is blowing. He has an idea, he might be right, he might even know more than you. But he’s still blind.
Or, Jon finds a book, makes assumptions, and falls prey to those assumptions. And then everyone else falls prey to him.
