Gon really notices everything, how little it may be, about Killua. Kurapika watches them fondly and reminisces about their time together a few years back. Time sure does fly, huh? He subconsciously grins thinking about their clumsy dynamic back then.
This moment is short-lived though, as his smile quickly fades into a muted gasp.
Actually, that is anything but true, since Gon always seems to miss one particular thing about Killua.
Kurapika bolts towards the two and reaches out with his right arm, desperately trying to intervene before it’s too late, but that never works out for them, does it?Or;

After parting with Killua at the World Tree, Gon returns to Whale Island, weighed down with regrets. Sporadic postcards from afar are now his only connection to his best friend, fragile threads stretching across the vast distance as he tries to untangle what Killua truly means to him. As he drifts in the ache of separation and an uncertain future, darkness stirs on the horizon and threatens to draw them back together - whether they are ready or not.
My attempt to fill in the gaps for Gon and Killua between the World Tree and the Black Whale, with some creative liberties taken!

What would’ve happened if Gon was not only a girl, but also raised by Kite and Ging, and occasionally Zoldyck family and the Genei Ryodan | Phantom Troupe— and of course Ging’s OG friends— because somehow Ging not only took the Hunter’s Exam with not only Silva Zoldyck, but also Nobunaga Hazama, Feitan Portor, and Uvogin.
What if much like Gon, Ging’s best friend was a mass-murdering-assassin-criminal, and much like his daughter, Ging "doesn't care about what is good or the bad" when he is curious or amazed.
What if because of Ging, Silva realized it was his wife, Kikyo, who was the one ripping apart the once close net Zoldyck family?
What if Silva was Gon’s godfather?
What if Gon and Killua grew up knowing each other?
What if Gon didn’t know who Aunt Mito and great-grandmother Abe was?
What if all this all became because Ging actually raised his daughter, taking her on his adventures, and yes that even means to the Dark Continent.
(I just wanted to write a story where Gon was one of the girls of four in a family of very, very extremely scarily powerful men)

In Killua’s backpack, he had a half-eaten box of gourmet chocolates, home baked bread, a thermos of herbal tea, freshly laundered clothes, and a folded up drawing: a picture he’d drawn of himself, alone and prepared for the worst, that Gon had graffitied his own likeness onto, smiling and bright and colorful.
Gon changed how Killua experienced the world. He made the impossible real. Maybe Killua could make the impossible real too.
On the run from his family, Killua is struggling with a few things: figuring out his sisters’ powers, relying on others, harnessing lightning, getting a full night’s sleep, and pining after Gon Freecss. Eventually, his resolve breaks, and Whale Island calls.

When Gon has a hard time transitioning back into life on Whale Island, he starts therapy. He also sees a math tutor, re-trains his nen, launches a tourism business, and spends a completely normal amount of time thinking about Killua's eyes.

Gon stops a boy from jumping off a bridge.
He has no idea what has driven the other to try and take his own life away, but upon finding out that he’s an omega, he has a few guesses. It’s not unheard of for alphas to take advantage of omegas by commanding them against their will, and he can only imagine how much the boy had to endure for him to end up in this situation.
So, he provides him the ultimate solution: get himself a mate! If the boy gets one, he doesn’t need to worry about other alphas commanding him, because his mate will be the only one who can command him. Uh, that would also mean he needs to find someone who cares about him not to use commands, but that’s okay! Gon will help him find one. Even if the boy claims that he doesn’t need his help and is this close to clawing his eye out.
