Summary
While Tommy had been busy getting beaten to death in prison, Tubbo and Ranboo had moved in together, adopted a child, and gotten married. The fact that they’d managed to do so in the span of three days was admittedly rather impressive. It did still sting, though. Tommy had found out about all of those new developments a few days after being released.
Truth be told, Tommy had stopped listening at some point. He was glad that Tubbo looked so happy, but a part of him couldn’t help but notice that he’d been left behind yet again.
Because of his distraction, however, he mindlessly agreed to something his friend had said. He knew because Tubbo had beamed at him and had started happily moving about his living room, looking into his chests for valuables. Tommy could have asked him what was going on. Sure, maybe Bee Boy would have been upset that he wasn’t actually listening, but an infraction so minor was easy to apologize for. Really, it would have been the best course of action. Unfortunately, his brain wasn’t working with him that day. Finding a coherent thought among the dark clouds that had formed up there felt like an impossible challenge.

Mr. Sam pursed his lips as if trying not to spook him. “An old friend of mine runs the studio and is hosting this free class as a recruitment of sorts. I figured you could use an outlet for all of that pent up energy you always have.”
Tommy opened his mouth to speak, but it took him a few seconds to find the right words. When he finally did, he winced at the way his voice lilted with uncertainty. “But…I’m not a dancer?”
Mr. Sam chuckled softy, nodding. “Maybe not, but I think you might surprise yourself.” When Tommy didn’t seem convinced, he added, “Listen, it’s not a commitment, just a single class. If you decide to go, it’s just to try it out and if you like it, you can keep going. If not, you forget about it and no harm done.”
Tommy bit his lip, glancing back down at the flyer. Mr. Sam certainly had a lot more faith in him than he himself did. And the last thing he wanted was to disappoint the person who’s class he actually looked forward to. His grip tightened almost out of determination, wrinkling the edges around his fingers. “...I’ll think about it.”

Ever since Ranboo vanished over one of their brief breaks, there had been a system set up with the Brighton content creators- Everyone would take turns to head on over to Ranboo's house every few days.
1) to make sure nothing was stolen and to keep things clean

2) They all had the hope that maybe, just maybe, Ranboo would reappear back at his house.
It's not like Phil was expecting to ACTUALLY find Ranboo when it was his turn to check on their house, let alone a heavily injured and delirious Ranboo.

Ranboo couldn't sit still.
It might seem strange to an outsider, considering they'd just gotten back from a lengthy nether mining trip. If they weren't exhausted from the physical labour then surely they would be from the temperature shock; the quick jump between the humid nether and the snowy tundra they now called home. Not-, not that they hadn't called the tundra a home before. It's just.. now they had a husband and child waiting for him instead of the coldness of their previous abode. Well, a husband, a child, and a Tommy.
Or: Ranboo comes home from a mining trip to find Tommy acting weird and Tubbo ignoring his problems.

"Why are you guys so wary of Wilbur?" He eventually questions, cutting in on their conversation. Tubbo blinks at him and Ranboo, who had finally taken their glasses off, stares.
"Do you not know?" Tubbo asks, reaching for his phone. "Know what?" Tommy frowns, pulling his legs off the couch and sitting up.
"He's super scary, dude. Everyone is afraid of him." Ranboo tells him, side eyeing Tubbo as he searches frantically for something on his phone. Tommy pulls a face, disbelieving.

According to the Academy's textbooks, there are no living Rangers who have the mental ferocity to Solo Pilot. The neural load was made to be split; everyone says it can't be done, that any Ranger who does is an anomaly. The Ranger who actively solo pilots on a regular occurrence - Eret, lone Jaeger pilot of Mark III Jaeger 'Eternal' - should be dead.
That doesn't change the fact that someone can solo pilot without frying their brain. Ranboo clings onto this whenever a kaiju kills his partner. He can avenge Tubbo - if only his Marshal would let him pilot his Jaeger alone.
Ranboo's normal, the other pilots spit in his face, the neural load would fry his brain - but Ranboo can't take no for an answer unless he wants to shatter apart into a million tiny pieces.
In response, they ship him off to Anchorage Shatterdome to meet his new mentor: Eret.
OR, Pacific Rim solo piloting au: Eret mentors Ranboo on how to do the impossible. Neither are okay, but they don't need to be to beat the shit out of the monsters that threaten humanity. Momret and kidboo.
