The story of how Benji Dunn became Ethan Hunt's husband doesn't actually start with Ethan Hunt, despite what many people may think. It doesn't even start with being recruited into the IMF or moving to America to work at their headquarters: in fact, his story started thousands of miles away in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire in the South West of England, where he was the son of Ellie and Bernard Dunn and the brother of Emma Dunn first, before he became anyone else.
Through grieving a father taken too early, getting his heart broken and put together again, being arrested in the middle of the night before graduating, and getting his heart put together then broken again in the end anyway, Benji's story is long, perilous, and yet to have a clear end...
...But he won't be the one to tell you all of it anyway.

On second thought, it must be something about Ethan's blinding smile making him say stupid things. His face twists in what Benji would think is alarm, but actually turns out to be something closer to mirth.
How that is possible, Benji doesn't know; he's not sure how he'd react to a perfect stranger telling him he already knows who he is.
Benji Dunn, like any other person, may have a tiny crush on local medical billing legend Ethan Hunt. It comes as a surprise that Ethan wants to be his friend. And maybe, to his delight, all it takes is a couple well-timed hellos.

Ilsa digs her gun out of the bottom drawer of a dresser in a room she hardly ever enters one night, disassembles it and lays it all out on her kitchen countertop. That first night, it takes her a minute and twenty-seven seconds to reassemble it. Over the next two days, she gets the time down to forty seconds. More time passes—twenty-three seconds. More time—fifteen.
She starts to wonder if she can make other things out of the parts; tools, decorations, practical, simple objects that have nothing to do with the original item. But as Ilsa gets more and more familiar with the individual parts, she realizes that there isn’t really anything she can rebuild them into other than a gun.
Maybe it serves as some analogy for her life. Discarded, taken apart. She reassembles the gun in eleven seconds and realizes a gun is all it was ever meant to be.
