Too well, in fact, as Lilya soon grows to be suspicious of the few arrests ever made by her, and the fact that seems seems far to soft and leniant for one of Erich Mielke's secret police.
Yet, when come terms to terms with the fact, how could she crush such a gentle flower? Someone so hopeful? Condemning them to confinement and the horrible interrogation would be cruel, and a waste indeed. Wait, no, she isn't developing emotions for her? She so is.

Bkornblume là một điệp viên nghe lén của Stasi (Bộ An Ninh Quốc Gia), trực thuộc chính phủ Đông Đức thời bấy giờ. Theo chỉ thị, Bkornblume được cử đi làm nhiệm vụ theo dõi và nghe lén một người (hay đúng theo lời của Giấy công tác mà cô nhận được, một "thực thể") bất tử được gọi là Eternity. Bkornblume đặt chân đến Hoa Kỳ, cô liền bị choáng ngợp bởi cuộc sống thanh bình và trật tự tại đây - không giống quê nhà cô luôn chìm trong khói lửa và chiến tranh.
Hoạt động trên mảnh đất này được một thời gian với gần như không có chút manh mối gì về Eternity, Bkornblume dần chán nản và muốn quay lại Đông Đức để tiếp tục công việc tình báo cùng hỗ trợ những người dân vô tội chạy thoát khỏi vòng chiến tranh.
