In 2017, Jet and The Girl fled the Zones, hoping to stay one step ahead of BLind. To regain strength before coming back stronger than ever.
In 2019, there was a ship. The Tecumsah was Jet's prison, bringing him and The Girl back to the Zones under the watch of BLind agents. Until it wasn't, and Jet found a way to get everyone he loved home safely. Until it was a grave, and certain things died with the ship.
Jet has never spoken about his time outside the Zones, but now he's got to tell the story of how he got home again, and everything he lost and gained along the way.

No one is surprised when Party Poison’s name is read out on reaping day. They’re a killjoy sympathiser, it was only a matter of time.
In Zone 3 the rebellion is an open secret. It was supposed to have died out years ago, when the Helium Wars ended and they wiped Zone 7 off the map. It was supposed to have ended when Better Living Industries set up the yearly Hunger Games, to remind the Zones that Battery city is the only thing standing between them and total annihilation. But annihilation comes in many forms, and keeping a dying animal breathing isn’t necessarily a kindness.

Summary
After an unbridled wave of corporations take over America, the country is left completely deregulated and effectively carved up into feudal states where billionaires and businesses make their own laws. Among the wreckage, mass privatization shuts down public services forcing millions of citizens out on the down and dirty streets. In the midst of the wreckage the Killjoy's take rise, determined to keep helping lost souls across the country and do it by becoming a band of mercenaries fighting in the crumbling, corporate war zone of New Best America.
