Third year at Camp Half-Blood.
The Titan’s Curse, the event that should’ve happened last winter, never came. It was delayed by an entire year. Maybe because of my interference in last year’s quest. Or maybe because there are now two other players in the game: Jacob Winston (Jake) and Jennifer Redwood (Jen), two demigods just like me.
I can’t escape my past anymore. It’s starting to haunt me in ways I never imagined. Can I keep my head straight with everything unraveling around me?
Once again, I found myself dragged into a quest that was never meant to be mine. Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, asked me to join her in rescuing Artemis. I didn’t want to, every instinct told me I’d break the story even further. But I couldn’t forget Bianca di Angelo and Zoë Nightshade. If there’s even a chance I can change their fate, I have to try.
But with Kronos whispering in my mind, can I really do it? Especially when the Titan King dangles the final piece of the puzzle before me, the truth that some gods blocked my memories of my first arrival in this world.
And when that truth finally comes out…

The world is unfair, and all Percy wants to do is help those the world is especially unfair to. After all, he can't refuse the offer if he has the power to stop more people from dying.

Apollo disobeyed him for Artemis’s safety. So as a reminder of who holds the power and was his king, Zeus would give Artemis a punishment instead of Apollo.That would teach Apollo the consequences of his actions.
‘Hmm, for Artemis's punishment…a repeat of one of Apollo’s old ones? Maybe the service of a mortal?’ Zeus blinked in shock. ‘Why that’s perfect!’
So far he could see no problems with this plan. He could easily ask another—probably Ganymede if he was to be realistic, maybe Apollo as an extra reminder—to overtake Artemis’s duty for the punishment.
Zeus’s mood grew more joyous the more he planned the punishment, but make no mistake—he was not enjoying having to punish his children. Anyone who opposed it was a liar.
Zeus smiled. The punishment was set.
