But that's fine, of course. It's not like there's much leading to do while careening through the furthest ring on a claustrophobic rock with a bunch of dysfunctional teenagers... right?

Dear parents, students, and faculty of Alternia High School,
We regret to inform you that this year the school did not get enough enrolments, because of this there are not enough students for the size of the building and it has put the school board in a terrible financial state. There are not enough funds to pay teachers, janitors, or lunch ladies. The school would be in utter shambles if it were to open this coming September.
However, to rectify the situation the school board has decided to close down the school. The students who attended will be relocated to another school within the school board depending on where they live. Your child will be getting a letter addressed to them in the mail as late as August 20th to inform them of which school they will be attending this fall.
We are very disappointed that it had to come to this but the faculty of AHS wishes all the students the best of luck in their new schools.

I want to climb that like a tree, you’d thought, and then John’d turned around and said ‘hi karkat!’, smiling like he was genuinely glad to see you. Beefcake, buff lumberjack, horribly true, with his neckbeard and plaid vest and shoulders straining the seam of his shirt. But the smile had been the same, as well as the dorky snort-laugh.
