Summary
“We should actually find out what’s making that smell” said Stede, as they entered the shack and an unidentified, frankly terrible stench assaulted their noses with true viciousness. Inside was dark; darker really than it should’ve been what with the sun still out and two big windows facing south. A mismatched pair of chairs, on the floor a holey mattress with hay sticking out, scratched table with one leg shorter than the rest, and a chest that actually looked to be in good condition: overall a sad, dusty picture, but not an unusual one. Whatever emitted that unholy fetor, remained yet to be uncovered.
Both men recoiled, covering their noses as best as they could.
“Fuck, that’s strong!” said Edward, tears in his eyes.
“Maybe we just air it out a bit” Stede’s muffled reply was optimistic, his face, however, anything but.
The air was heavy with dust, their lungs working hard for every gulp of air.
“That rotten fucking smell!” shouted Ed and froze, his eyes widening in sudden realization. He gagged.
