Three years after the Battle of Hong Kong, Optimus Prime has not yet returned to Earth, still on his quest to search for the mysterious Creators. Back on Earth, Cade Yeager and his ragtag group of Autobots are on the run from a government bent on destroying all Transformers, while also searching for the reborn Decepticon leader Galvatron, who disappeared following Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, on Cybertron, Optimus Prime meets an ancient warrior, who reveals a dark truth ahead of the return of an enemy long forgotten.
