Summary
And look. Maddie should know better than to get involved. But she’s at the point in her pregnancy where she’s cranky and uncomfortable all of the time. Sue's got her on reduced hours already due to the stressful nature of this pregnancy and she’s bored. There’s only so much daytime tv you can watch before your brain starts melting.
So, just a little push.
“You know, I always knew my brother was obsessed with you.”
Eddie chokes on his drink.
Okay, maybe that was more than a little push.

Maddie finally says her piece.

Summary
“Can’t we just lock them in a closet and see what happens?” Chim says miserably.
“Please, if that would work we would’ve done it ages ago,” says Hen, but it starts the gears turning. “What if we don’t tell them,” she says, a plan forming. “What if we tell somebody else and they just, you know, happen to hear it.” She looks around at the skeptical faces staring back at her. “Come on, it would be perfect. We just have to engineer a situation where they can hear us talking about them each confessing their love for the other. Then once they know their feelings are reciprocated, they’ll confess.”
“So, lie,” Ravi says simply.
“I mean, it’s only a little bit of a lie though, right? We know they love each other, we all can see it. They just need to be…eased into the idea.”

aka, much ado about the 118

Summary
Buck’s got his back turned to Eddie. He’s gently swaying back and forth to whatever is playing through the speaker now as he gathers up the trash. Eddie vaguely recognizes the song, something slow and acoustic.
Without thinking too much about it, Eddie walks over to him and holds out his hand. When Buck turns to look at him curiously, all he says is, “Dance with me.”

Day 5 of Buddie Week: "Dance with me."

Summary
Blake had proudly announced: “I got 118, ladies and gentlemen!”
Instead of the loud cheers some of the other people got, Blake got a few winces and some ducked heads. There were even a few people snickering.
“Good-fucking-luck, Miller.”
“Your days are numbered, Blakey-Blake.”
“Hope you got magic powers, man.”
“Blake, it was nice knowing you. For real.”
— — — —
Or, the fic where the 118 gets a new rookie and he’s very confused about what the hell is going on at this (infamous) firehouse…especially when it comes to Buck and Ravi, and this one other firefighter who’s not part of the 118 but is always there anyway.
Just weirdness all around.

Summary
Lily wonders if Eddie does anything other than talk to Buck when he’s not with Chris, because everytime she runs into him (which is a lot because they’re currently living less than a mile from each other) he’s got Buck on a video call. They bicker about what colour Eddie should paint his kitchen - “Eddie, you wanna go with something warm to make it inviting,” Buck had insisted, cackling triumphantly when Lily had agreed with him. They reminisce about calls they attended - “okay but you have to admit that Ravi fucked that one up, right? I asked for gauze and he handed me an IV bag,” Buck had sneered, wholly offended by Eddie reminding him that Ravi had been terrified of him after the ‘chainsaw incident’.

Summary
"You know, everybody kept pestering me about you. Back home. Asking if I had feelings for you.”
The casual remark catches Eddie off guard. Did he really fail to see the writing on the wall? Writing so obvious to everyone, apparently?
“What do you mean, everyone? Who’s everyone?”
Buck gives an unconcerned shrug. “Tommy. Maddie. Hen and Chim. But I kept telling them I couldn’t have feelings because you were straight—”
“—pretty sure that’s not how that works,” Eddie interjects, but Buck ignores him.
“—but I suppose I didn’t want to admit I was a loser pathetically head over heels in love with my best friend, too afraid to risk our friendship by telling him.”***
Ever since Eddie's move to Texas, he's had a simple recipe to fix problems: call Buck. Parents driving him crazy? Buck. He needs to figure out a recipe? Facetime with Buck. His friend always has his back.
So when Eddie can’t fall asleep? He calls Buck. Only this time, there are complications. This time, Eddie realizes that maybe, he wants more than calls from his best friend. And maybe he doesn't want to stay just friends, either. -

Summary
Christopher, at fourteen years old, is well-acquainted with the way that sometimes parents just… can’t.
Dad left, twice. Mom left, came back, died. Even Buck – who is not Chris’s parent but also not not Chris’s parent, occupying a vague space adjacent to Dad that nobody ever really seems to understand – has had his moments where he’s dropped out of Chris’s life entirely.
All of which is to say that at some point, when his grandparents keep saying it’s better for Chris and for Dad for him to be here, eventually he starts to believe them.
OR: Christopher Diaz, homesick, in Texas.
