Zelda didn’t think, didn’t hesitate; she just leapt for Link, reaching desperately for his hand as her own began to glow. She’d protected herself and the Brigade from a cataclysmic fall like this once, she could do it again, weakened powers be damned. She needed to save Link. No matter what, she needed to save him. They were getting out of here together, damn it all.
There was a burst of gold in Link’s pocket (the teardrop!) and it spread outwards in waves of glitter. The gold encased his entire body, the Triforce of Courage blazed with all the power of the sun, their fingers brushed and then, in one last blast of light-
“Link!” Zelda screamed again, more desperately than ever as he vanished before her eyes.

Dark never had a chance to meet his other half during the Calamity. Not until years later, when the castle lifted up into the sky and cracks ran through the earth, and he was freed from the sealed ruins beneath the castle.
The hero had changed since the shrine, and even more in the years since the Calamity had been defeated. Dark had not, still stuck as a copy of the hero as he had been before the shrine. So he was curious, when he escaped, what the hero was like now.

100 years ago, Hyrule was bracing for the oncoming Calamity. The Champions were appointed, the Knight bore the Sword That Seals The Darkness, the Guardians and Divine Beasts were under careful study... But the Princess, Zelda, had yet to come into her powers. Her cousin, Lady Elsa, had yet to learn complete control over her own powers, over ice. Lady Anna, determined to fight beside her cousin and sister, trained with the Champions and the Knight, in order to help.
But the Calamity came too soon. The Champions were presumed lost, inside the very Divine Beasts they were meant to pilot. The Guardians, meant to protect the people of Hyrule, lead the attack. And on Blatchery Plain, near Fort Hateno, Zelda and Elsa came fully into their powers when Link and Anna fell to protect them. Under the Princess' order, the two fallen were rushed to the Shrine of Resurrection on the Great Plateau, in hopes that the untested healing pools within might save them, while Zelda and Elsa returned to Hyrule Castle, trapping the Calamity inside with them.
Now, healed but without their memories, Link and Anna wake to a kingdom changed from the one they once knew, a pair of mysterious voices and a sketchy old man their only guides... -

Well, Link eats, at least, Zelda more falls asleep into her fish soup and without much fanfare, collapses into bed. She sleeps for thirty-eight hours, wakes once to mumble “Uxeefiget” which means exactly nothing, and falls back asleep for another seven.
The next day the two sit down at the same table and have breakfast at lunchtime and avoid talking about the things they need to talk about, namely: what to do next.
