What if Christine hadn’t torn off the mask?
This story begins after the events of “Music of the Night” and offers a fix-it take on the original tale. Christine and Erik slowly begin to understand each other outside the shadows of the opera house. Their relationship develops step by step, shaped by trust, conflict, and growing affection. Alongside them, other key figures—Raoul, Meg, Madame Giry, Nadir, and Darius—play important roles as they each navigate the changes brought by Christine’s choice.
A character-driven exploration of love, redemption, and second chances.Rating will change to M at some point, because of smut and violence! But can be skipped, I'll put it in the chapter notes.

Summary
Erik did not leave Christine after that night beneath a moonless sky. Instead, they left with The Giry’s the following morning and booked passage to New York City.
Ten years later, Christine receives an invitation to sing at the reopening of the Opera Populaire. Going back to Paris will surely open up many old wounds for both of them, and perhaps present wounds to their child. Will the family travel back to the place where it all began or leave the hurt behind and stay in the comfort of Phantasma.

In an attempt to escape the memory of his death, Christine joins the National Opera and throws herself into rehearsals. However, as she settles into her place in the newly constructed opera house, she begins to learn that things are not quite what they seem… And that there are things far more haunting than the memory of her father's rotting flesh.

But while Raoul searches for her out in the daylight, Christie has her own secrets that come in the night - she’s been hearing the voices of angels her whole life, and now, they’ve come to help.
(TW: Recurring themes of self-harm. I basically used the “talking to ghosts” thing as a metaphor for mental illness.)

Erik is a very rich, very bored businessman who just happens to notice her. He becomes obsessed with the idea of protecting her from the cruel world that awaits her. He pretends to be a friend of her late father as an excuse to help her, but he soon realizes being her benefactor is not enough: he must have her to himself.TL;DR: basically, Erik is a very twisted man.
Inspired by the wonderful "A Question of Time" by Depeche Mode, one of my all time favorite songs.
