Toshinori's words come more and more haltingly. He can feel cold darkness encroaching on his limbs already. He tilts his hand, just slightly, just enough to renew his offer to the boy. 'At-At least… Not long enough… For help to arrive in time.'

    Yagi Toshinori gets caught in a building collapse in his powered-down form. As he lays dying and without a successor, he offers his quirk to a young boy who is trapped alongside him.

    All Might never makes it out of the building. But Midoriya Izuku does.

    With no parent and a new limb-breaking quirk, he becomes a ward of UA.

Every year, on the anniversary of his kidnapping, they flashed the photo of Shouto clinging to his mother. Eventually, Izuku found himself agreeing with Kacchan; the boy looked terrified.

    But more than terrified, he looked lonely.


    The world seems to forget Shouto Todoroki ever existed, his name barely mentioned on the anniversary of his disappearance.

    "What, not at all?" Ochako asks, and she sounds surprised. Which—okay, he's known to be plenty of an idealistic romantic, so it's not odd that she's surprised, but he hadn't thought this in particular would be such a big deal. 

    True Mates are a hot gossip topic even in top hero schools, it seems.

He disappeared completely. He wondered the world aimlessly. That is until he was picked up by a charming young boy whose life was filled with Melancholy.
