Phil can’t help but wonder exactly what led him to this moment, lying hurt inside a cell, his wings bound tightly behind his back as his own blood coats the floor.
As blow after blow rains down upon Phil by his captor, he’s mocked with harsh words sneered at him, the condescending “Does this hurt? My apologies, Your Highness” and the smug "Oh how the mighty have fallen, Your Majesty."
And there's not even any denying it: King Phil has most definitely fallen.
But in the darkest of times, he finds a light to grasp onto, a friend in the form of the piglin hybrid locked in his cell.
Or a story of friendship between Phil and Techno, in which an ex-king who’s had all his freedom stripped away and a prisoner who’s always been treated like an animal both discover just how nice it is to finally have a friend.

A blooming friendship and the unraveling of it all. Nothing is easy when Gods are tugging the strings. A coming of age story, with a healthy balance of platonic fluff, SBI family dynamics and heartcrushing angst.

Started as me wanting to write a few divergent endings for one scenario, ended up as a longer fic where outlaw!Dream and outlaw!Technoblade travel and have adventures. Hannahxxrose and Ponk are there, and versions of various other DSMP characters will show up.
It's all platonic relationships except Quackity/Schlatt much later in the story because *angst.*

Tommy's doing crime, Wilbur's on a power trip, Techno's off farming potatoes, and Phil just wants a black coffee. In an effort to escape boredom, Tommy and Wilbur challenge king-of-the-school Dream and his possy of evildoers, accidentally dragging their dysfunctional family and even more dysfunctional friend group into a high school war that spans debate club, mock elections, a theatre production, and even brawls on the cafeteria floor. Tubbo brings the bloodthirst, Ranboo brings the reason, and all Dream wants is his rival to hurry up and be his friend already.
Welcome to DSMP High (very creative name, I know).
Losing a canon life is now “getting suspended”. Permadeath is “getting expelled”, and revival is “the principal got bribed to revoke your expulsion”. This is a retelling of the Dream SMP lore, but in the form it was always meant to be... High School Warfare.

Normally, it’s faint, and it doesn’t bother Technoblade so much, but other times, he can’t hear over the ringing.
So, he complains to his dad.
“Sounds like tinnitus,” Philza says.
“Ugh,” Technoblade groans.
“Sorry, mate,” Philza replies, patting Technoblade gently on the shoulder. “Not much to do about it, I’m afraid. But let me know if it gets worse, alright?”
Technoblade nods miserably.
It does, unfortunately, get worse.
