His good intentions are instantly blown to the wind when he discovers that the little town is home to a mysterious creature who steals sailors away. This is a story too good to not dig up, even if the cute redheaded sailor he's befriended wonders why he's bothering chasing down legends.

He remembered the very first time they met, shortly after The Fall. Crowley, Crawley at the time, had slithered up the wall from the garden and approached him, despite being completely aware of the risks that came with talking to an angel, and to the Guardian of The Eastern Gate no less.
From the corner of his eye, Aziraphale had seen the unnaturally large serpent morph and take on a more person-shaped form. He remembers the huge pile of black mass that he would oftentimes see curled up under a tree, or beside a river. He remembers the long stretch of scales sleeping on thick branches, high up on trees, showing off that beautiful, bright shade of red that colored its belly.
Aziraphale spoke up. “What if we visited a garden?”
“Scuse’?”
“I said, what if we visited a garden?”

Except he becomes trapped in serpentine form.
Aziraphale, with Muriel's helping hand, must learn how to care for a reptile - that appears to be getting larger - and find a way to turn him back.
Hellish shenanigans ensue.
Story takes place post S2, but the principality remains a Southern pansy bookseller who doesn't sell books.
