Summary
Xaden has a lot on his shoulders after the Battle of Basgiath, not least his progressing venin state. Whilst Violet desperately searches for a cure, Xaden is determined to ensure that all of her needs are met, even if that means using a certain wingleader.
Dain isn't as in control as he wants everyone to believe. Shunned and distrusted, he'll do all he can to mend things with Violet. Instead he finds unexpected connection with another isolated group - the Fliers. He becomes dedicated to defending them - certainly not motivated by budding affections for the sharp-tongued Poromish princess helping him train his signet.
There is more than meets the eyes to Catriona and Xaden's called-off engagement, and Cat hides secrets from a brutal past life at court. She's desperate to support Poromiel and has a plan to prove the worth of the fliers in a place dominated by riders. What she didn't plan on, was catching feelings for one in the process.
Somehow developed to a full story featuring dragon and gryphon lore, power struggles, magic, venin, secrets, tested morals, and in it's many splendid, infuriating and confusing forms, love.
Follows the OS timeline but with AU elements.

When Xaden's roommate and best friend moved in with his girlfriend of 2 years, he thought the empty bedroom would stay empty. It's not like they need help with the rent. Then she tells them about her best friend, who was recently cheated on, going through his own breakup; he feels enough camaraderie to agree to meet her. After getting scolded in his own bar by the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, he agrees more readily than any of his roommates would expect. Now his apartment smells like flowers, his dog won't sleep in his room anymore, and his roommates won't stop giving him shit.
