Born into this nihilist cult which worships death, Frank is taught that there is nothing more to life than the intrinsic animalistic urge to survive, wrought with suffering, doomed to the same inescapable ending. Motivated by fear (and a small, shameful flicker of hope that there may be something more to live for), Frank makes a daring escape into the freezing mountains of Italy with zero plans as to where he’ll go or how he’ll survive.
A lengthy carriage ride away lives Count Way, a wealthy nobleman with hair as black as crow’s feathers and a presence almost as godly as Antiochus himself. Returning from the frost-covered wilderness west of Helena Manor, Count Way’s hunter arrives with something more precious in tow than just a winter feast.

He grins and I suddenly notice the wolf child in him; canines shiny, lips ruby and reflective like he's put on chapstick. My thoughts - sludge or slime - slosh about with nothing concrete to grab onto, just the steady buzz of panic.
The Polaroid is tiny, but it's clear who are the two men in it; tattoos betray him and my frame stands out even in dim light. He wouldn't fuckin' dare, he wouldn't-- but he did.

Somehow, even though he ironed his shirt yesterday, there were somehow wrinkles and creases that formed on it, but of course that would happen. It was no surprise that things weren’t going as planned today, because Quinn was never the luckiest person in the world.
If he was lucky, he wouldn’t hit a red light almost every time he was at a stoplight. If he was lucky, he would’ve remembered to turn his car lights off that one night last month so his car battery wasn’t completely drained. If he was lucky, he wouldn’t still have a scar on his arm from when he drunkenly cut his tattoo with a plastic hanger.
And, if he was lucky, he wouldn’t be getting ready for a meeting with his former bandmates and a mediator to finally settle the lawsuit he filed.
