The story starts after a football game, and we are introduced to a teenage boy— Max Marrison’s— typical day. He’s the son of the owner of an adoption center in New York City, and he’s a pretty social and popular guy among his school. But the next day, he finds out that there’s a new kid at the orphanage— a quiet boy around his age, George Wakowski. He is soon enrolled at Max’s school, and Max is suspicious of him— from his weird scars to his strange muttering. After a few days, he decides to confront him on the rooftop after an awkward dinner. Max argues with him, asking him for more information on who he is before George tells him that he’s a “time cop from the future.”
