They weren't married.
That, however, did not stop Dick from shakily slipping the gold band on his ring finger and holding it to his lips like a promise. The last six years have been nothing but an endless stream of lies, so, what was one more? Really, what was the damage? Dick didn't have to completely give up on being a hero - being Nightwing - because Slade took care of them. He raised Damian as his own, made more than enough money for the three of them so that Dick could focus all his attention on just being a good dad to Damian. Slade also bought him things. Nice things. Like a top brand sportscar. And a house.
It was...Perfect. Even if they weren't married. Even if everything they built together had been built upon a bed of lies. It was still perfect.
Until it wasn't. Until his son was kidnapped. Until all Dick's lies came crashing down onto him and Bruce and The Team finally saw Dick for what he was - what he had to become in order for his son to live a life he deserved.
Until his perfect secrets were the very thing that left him dripping with blood and pointing a gun at Bruce's head.

Not to me.
There’s a new dangerous drug plaguing the streets of Bludhaven and it’s beginning to trickle into Gotham. Similar to opioids, and some deliriants, it has the capability to devastate both cities. But the most perplexing effect of the drug is the risks of detoxing from the drug.
At first, when Nightwing found reports of dead bodies showing up with trace amounts of the drug in their system, he assumed it was overdoses. But further studies of the drug have found that if those addicted to the drug go too long without taking another dose (around a 12 hour window), their body shuts down, ending with cardiac arrest.
With the stakes even higher, Nightwing jumps at the opportunity to investigate a tip he’d received about a new shipment coming in. He’d be fine without backup, the Bats in Gotham were busy handling an Arkham breakout and it was just recon. He was fine, that is, until he was caught and dosed with the drug during the ensuing fight.Now he needs to figure out how to find a cure, find and stop the main supplier of the drug, all while keeping his new accidental addiction from his nosy family. No biggie right? If only the withdrawals weren’t so fucking crippling.
