Summary
Eddie's gay. Which is fine. Great, even, at least Chris said it was.
Eddie has tried, really, really hard, to let Buck know how much he loves him. But every time he is close to, the damn fire alarm goes off. And he could wait, he could wait for the shift to be over so they can calmly talk about it when they are driving home, or when they are making dinner, or any other time. Scratch that, he actually can't wait, because he knows for a fact that, tomorrow, Tommy is going to ask Buck to marry him.
Eddie is losing his mind.

Cathartic Vulnerability of the Glass Closet by serendipitouswasteland

Summary
When something is cathartic, it brings about a relief of strong emotions. The concept of vulnerability being cathartic appears counter-intuitive. Vulnerability and catharsis together should be such, yet it truly embodies something far more profound. Its is the relief that comes from laying yourself bare to another human being in such an emotional way and receiving only love in return that brings about cathartic vulnerability. In this moment, that is what Buck and Eddie share as their lips intertwine and bodies press together. The closet glass that has been surrounding them for a near decade shatters with the crash, leaving them spread open in honesty and truth for the years to come.

Summary
In an effort to make Buck stay, Eddie has him blacklisted by every landlord in Los Angeles.
---
The first time it happens, Eddie doesn’t know what comes over him. It’s like he’s possessed.
His phone rings while he’s folding laundry, pairing together two of Buck’s dog-themed socks when he answers and hears, “Hi, is this Eddie Diaz?”
“Yes,” he responds.
“Hi, this is Claire Thornton with Thornton & Duncan Realty, I’m calling for a reference for Mr. Evan Buckley? He’s applied to one of our properties recently, so we’re reaching out before approval,” the woman on the other end of the line says.
Eddie’s stomach drops. Then the possession happens. “Oh, uh. Evan Buckley. Right.”
Claire chuckles. “That doesn’t sound like a great start.”
“I- listen. He’s a good guy, but an awful tenant,” Eddie feels like he’s watching himself from outside his body as the words leave his mouth. What is he doing?

Summary
Eddie had known for far too long that the way he felt about Buck was different from anything else, but he played dumb and lied to himself and everyone else until he couldn't anymore.
Because for those three minutes and seventeen seconds, something in Eddie had died. And when Buck began to breathe on his own again, it awoke with a name.
***
Set immediately after Bucks death, completely canon compliant to that point. I cried writing this (for multiple reasons) so I hope you enjoy!!!!! title taken from Not Strong Enough by BoyGenius (bc. duh?) honorable mention: Sailor Song by Gigi Perez (also duh).

Summary
“First, you pack up at the house and don’t tell me, and now you just sneak in here and hope no one sees you?” Eddie asked, hurt. Buck felt himself tense up at the pain he caused his best friend.
“It’s tragic, isn’t it? I can’t even face the people who matter to me,” Buck told him. He turned to look at Eddie.
Eddie was leaning against the door frame, and Ravi started to walk out. “No, you stay,” Eddie said sternly as he looked at Ravi.
Ravi looked between them and didn’t know what to do. He leaned back against the locker. Buck let out a frustrated sigh. “What, now?” Buck asked angrily.
“You think that no one wants to say goodbye? You just left the group chat like it was nothing. You gave your transfer request to the interim Captain after Gerrard left, like it was nothing. No one knows how to talk to you, Buck. You just cut everyone off.” Eddie said. But Buck didn’t cut everyone off, no, he just started talking less, he just hoped no one noticed, but of course Eddie did. Eddie always noticed when Buck self-isolated.
Or, what happens when Buck moves out, leaves the 118, and ghosts Eddie Diaz?

Summary
“Damn, Diaz, I didn’t realize you were bringing your boytoy with you.” Lucian leans against the doorway to the locker room.
Eddie doesn’t even look up from where he’s carefully wrapping his hands. “Touch him and I’ll break it.” He deadpans.
Buck is silent, hovering near Eddie, watching the exchange happen. Lucian pushes off the doorframe, crossing the room in three long strides and reaching to stroke a thumb over Buck’s cheek.
Eddie is there, gripping Lucian’s wrist so tightly he swears he can hear the bones squeak together. He shoves him back, stepping forcefully into his space to create room between them and Buck. He puts himself nose-to-nose with Lucian. “I told you. If you touch him, I’ll break you.”
OR, Buck accidentally joins a fight club. Eddie tries to get him out of it.

Summary
A drunk Eddie accidentally squishes a cockroach in his kitchen and gives it a proper burial in his backyard out of guilt. The universe is moved by this wildly unnecessary act of compassion and blesses (or curses) him with the ability to hear and speak to animals.
Alternatively, Eddie finds out that the firehouse dog trash talks them, the pigeon next door is a flat earther, and that he might be crazy when the ghost of the dead cockroach visits him in a dream to counsel him through his feelings for Buck.

Summary
Buck was tired after the first twelve hours of their shift. He’d been about to go down to the bunks when his phone started ringing.
The hospital was calling. But not a hospital in Los Angeles.
It was a hospital in El Paso.
Eddie was in an accident. Buck was his emergency contact.
So, of course, Buck did the most rational thing he could think of.
He dropped everything and booked a flight to El Paso, so he could take care of his best friend and his son.
