“I just wanna say thank you, for you know, dealing with my stubborn ass.” He said, offering a hand to the medic.
Eddie chuckled at first, but clapped his hand with Buckley’s and shook it, smiling broadly at him.
“Be safe out there, sailor.” Eddie smiled, watching as the other man waved off the rest of his team in order to say a proper goodbye.
“You too, soldier.” He grinned and mock saluted him: “I hope if we ever see each other again it’s under better circumstances.”

Summary
Shannon Diaz née Garrett had a high tolerance for bullshit. You don’t get married at eighteen, become a mom at nineteen, and survive living under the omnipresent gaze of the world’s most… particular in-laws without developing many, many strategies for self-preservation. Every snide remark about Chris’ CP, every passive aggressive comment from Helena Diaz, every vertebra of Eddie’s liquid spine, Shannon took right on the chin with a smile on her face.
But there was no corner of Shannon’s life that she tested her extreme tolerance for bullshit more than whatever the Samwise-and-Frodo, Bert-and-Ernie, Crockett-and-Tubbs hell was going on between her ex-husband and his best friend.
(In which Shannon Diaz née Garrett lives, gets divorced, and helps her ex-husband realize that he’s in love with his best friend)

Summary
Meeting Evan Buckley was entirely an accident, but he was an amazing guy who just needed a break. She wasn’t thrilled when he started spending time with the woman from dispatch, but now that she was gone, he was home a lot more. He was a little down about the whole thing, having spent so much time and energy invested in the relationship, but the woman was not what he needed. Not that Shannon had a lot of room to talk, what with leaving her own family. She’d … told Buck pieces. Nothing concrete. He knew that she was still technically married, but that she was planning to get a divorce when she felt like she was ready to let go because she knew her husband would not be the one to do it.
She hadn’t meant to sleep with Buck the night they met. But it had happened, and now they had an amazing friendship from it. It wasn’t awkward or anything either, which was perfect. She’d only shown Buck one picture of her family. Her husband in his military uniform, granted you couldn’t see his face at all, and Christopher was just a tiny baby.

Summary
She looks up at the sky, less at the twinkling stars and more at that big beautiful moon she’s always loved. It sounds way too woo-woo to say out loud, but that’s her girl, that moon. She’s always loved her.
“Great speech,” she says. Not the moon, obviously. Shannon turns around to see that Taylor Kelly is the person speaking. Taylor Kelly in a very, very, very nice dress.

Summary
Shannon pipes up again. “Hey, Eds, you know what I just realized? We have to give him a nickname.” Eddie raises an eyebrow at her, a silent question of why? “One of the guys on the baseball is also named Evan - Evan Lockheart. He’s an asshole, honestly. He’s hit Eds with a ball in practice before, which was totally on purpose.” Lockheart is an asshole, but Eddie just shrugs like he always does. It happened. He’s moved on. He avoids that particular Evan and moves on with his life. The new Evan seems to be struggling to find a name to offer up, so Eddie gives the first one that comes to mind.
“Buck.” Shannon raises an eyebrow this time.
“Like a deer?”
or: this high school au has everything: religious trauma, the Buckley parents being terrible, and football!

"This is not the place, Shannon."
Hen moves very slowly so as not to be noticed as she pulls her phone out to message Chim.
"I just want to see my son, Evan,"
Hen moves much quicker. Tapping out a jumbled text.
"That's not really up to me. And this is not the place," Buck repeats, monotone.
"You're his dad," She says like a trump card, "Aren't you?"
