Set over 80 years before construction began on The Last City, at the very beginning of the Dark Age.
Hiwa has spent the past 7 years of her life attempting to find her way off Nessus. Unsuccessfully.
The isolation of her past has made her desperate for community, something she finds in the form of an Eliksni encampment she's unceremoniously pushed into by increasingly problematic battalions of Vex. When the Eliksni refuse to shoot her and prove somewhat friendly, she decides to take a moment to compile information, learn about their culture, and hopefully find some form of meaningful connection.
This series follows her attempts to forge connections when she can return from death and the people around her cannot.

Her planned pitch is long gone now; she will have to wing this and hope to all that is holy and good that the Commander sees truth in it. She takes a deep breath. “Does the name Skolas mean anything to you?”
The entirety of the Commander’s body stiffens into a straight line. Her eyes narrow for a fraction of a second, and Niksos sees the muscles in her jaw tense as her teeth press together. That is more than an answer for her, but she can already see the Commander intending to answer aloud.
“Yes. The Queen made arrangements for him, last I heard… He should not be in the Reef any longer. Gone for good, is what she told me,” she says.
