The abduction of the Commander was nothing short of a death blow to any chance that Humanity could repel ADVENT from Earth. It was like the flame that kept the Human Resistance ablaze had been snuffed out.
John Bradford took the failure of XCOM and the cause for what came to be called Unification Day completely on his shoulders, promising that if he ever again found her that he would never allow any harm to come to the Commander. After he rescues her from a sarcophagus the man who waited two decades for his mentor is now faced with an impossible chance—and forces the Commander to question if she is willing to risk the fragile future of the Initiative for a gamble at a happiness she never believed to be possible.
