Summary
His mother told him to slow down the moment he had learned how to walk properly. His own father told him to slow down when he sat behind the wheel for the first time. Abby told him to slow down when he took yet another shift at the hospital, leaving her and kids at home. Dana told him all the time to slow down with the amount of red bull he drank.
Even after all of this, Frank Langdon has never really learned how to take it slowly in his life. Not until one particular day in July at least.

Summary
“i’m not hurting you, am i?” frank breathes out, holding mel down by her inner thighs with his fingers wrapped securely around them in a firm grip, being careful not to bruise her.
her safety, her comfort being his number one priority. always.
“n-no, doc- langdon.” mel tenses a bit, shaking and shivering all over and he knows this is her first time here, not only in this position, but the first time someone’s taken their time to show mel patience, affection with this type of intimacy, of closeness. it makes a shiver shoot through him, one similar to the pain meds he was forced to wean himself off, to give up. and it was all worth it. the mess, the pain, the past all led him to this moment, with the woman, his most trusted co-worker, who gave him unwavering support and her steadfast friendship, companionship, when he felt he didn’t deserve it.

Summary
Frank would like it to be noted for the record that he tried. He really did. When he came home from rehab and wasn’t presented with divorce papers, but instead a tired smile from his wife and the offer to see a marriage counselor, Frank had every intention of making his marriage work. Everything that happened since was unplanned and out of his control. Well, not entirely. But you can’t control your feelings, can you? That’s what he tells his sponsor when trying to justify the mess he got himself into.
What was he supposed to do? Not fall in love with Mel King? He wasn’t super-human.
