Steve Harrington officially gave up on love the moment Dustin broke down in his arms trying to tell him that Eddie Munson was dead. Everyone Steve fell for, it seemed, was either dating each other or dead. And with the fissures open in the ground and the party scrambling to figure out how to save the world - again - Steve's love life felt pretty low-stakes. He simply didn't have time to think about it.
Eddie, on the other hand, had nothing but time. Being dead was incredibly boring, as it turned out, and very lonely. He didn't expect to be given any second chances, because life's never been that kind to him. Still, as he crawled his way through a hell perfectly designed to torture him, the cracks started to show. Maybe Vecna was weakening. Maybe the fissures were letting things leak through to the other side. Either way, Eddie made up his mind. He wouldn't run away this time. They stare at each other for a moment. Steve just looks bewildered, yet incredibly amused. He finally just snorts and raises his hands as if he’s surrendering. “No more cowboy. I get it.” He takes a long sip of his wine, before perking up and pointing at him. “Wait, so is Billy the Kid off the table?? Because I’ve been saving that one.”
Billy squints at him, tries to kill him with his mind.
“I mean, it’s right there. No?”
When it’s clear Billy isn’t going to give him the satisfaction of a response, Steve sighs and shrugs.
“Fine.” He finishes off his wine, waves a server down, and then orders another. Once the drink is delivered, he looks at Billy for a moment, really examines him. “Shot in the dark here - and I’m spitballing - but I’m getting the impression that we are not friends.”
Billy scoffs.

“I do not find myself concerned overmuch with such things,” Steve had tried to demure, for he had not wished to seem ungrateful for what introductions into the society of Devonshire and its surrounds Sir Hopper did offer.
Sir Hopper had snorted, ungainly in his amusement, and tapped his temple. He’d said, “I shall keep that in mind, then. Still: six and thirty years between you is too much. Five and ten, however, is much more agreeable to my delicate sensibilities. What say you to that?”
