Summary
Librarian always knew Milkman could never accept the truth that Golden Fool was well and truly dead, but he never expected the man to go as far as he has. To go on a quest to find Atium in the vain hope that Fool's god could return him to life. Librarian never expected Milkman to be willing to do anything, pay any price, all for a dead fool, but he has.
“You were right." Milkman sighs defeatedly, snapping his fingers in Librarian's direction to punctuate his point, even as his teary eyes remain trained on the ground. "My Fool is dead."
Librarian flinches. Watching Milkman pace, back and forth and back and forth, watching him spiral and lose himself in doubt- it's all too familiar. His breath catches in his throat. Because this is how Golden Fool died.
Now, Librarian must confront Milkman's love for the man who's memories he stores like books on a bookshelf, and that those books are much more alive than he had thought.
