rated m becasue there'll probably be gore and there will be abusive edizzy (but the latter not until like at least chapter 4)

chapters are short becasue that's how shakespeare did it (and i'm lazy)

Ronin’s smile falters, just slightly. “Curtain’s almost up, love. Don’t make me go without a goodbye.” Valentin doesn’t answer. He just stands. The bulb flickers, and the reflection stutters — two figures caught between acts, between mercy and murder.
Blackout. Valentin knows this is his time to shine, to finish his personal story instead of just Lady Macbeth’s. He’d have some time until Ronin went back on stage after him, anyways. Maybe he could leave. Maybe he’d stay, he’d scream, play up the role of Lady Macbeth the way Ronin played Macbeth himself.

This is a prequel to the original play, following a young Macbeth as he competes in a tournament organised by King Duncan to crown a 'King of Thanes'. The tournament is held in fun, but Macbeth, as the ambitious young man he is, takes it entirely seriously and undergoes somewhat of an ego-death, after losing to Banquo. Basically, this text explores the birth of Macbeth's slow-burn ambition.
