Summary
As a young boy, Lucas experienced a traumatic event that still haunted his dreams. He would wake up in a cold sweat some nights, with images replaying in his mind that he couldn't escape from. Over time, he had learned to bury the memories, but they lingered underneath the surface, threatening to resurface when his guard was down.
The trauma had left deep scars that affected Lucas in ways he didn't fully understand. He found it difficult to trust others or let his emotional barriers down. On the outside, he appeared reserved but otherwise normal.
Lucas was private about his struggles, not wanting anyone's pity. He had taught himself to mask his inner turmoil behind a stoic façade. But alone in the dark quiet moments, the ghosts of his past still whispered to him, keeping him up at night and making it hard to feel at peace. The childhood trauma continued to haunt Lucas, even as he tried desperately to outrun its lingering effects. -

“I, um…” His tongue peeked out from behind his teeth to glide over his lips in an effort to ground himself covertly.
“You know you can tell us anything, right?” Jayden asked.
“Or not tell us,” Kes chimed in, sharing a nod with the teen next to him. “There's no pressure.”
Lucas looked down at his hands, the first two fingers of his right hand still captured under Jens’. He could see the soft smile Jens was sporting out of the corner of his eye, the upturned lips of his lover making his own closed-mouth smile - the one he didn’t realize he was wearing - grow.
He breathed in deep once more.
“I think I’m gay,” he breathed out, then paused. “Well- no. I am gay. I don’t think I’m gay, I am gay.” He looked at Jens, whose face could only be described as amused. “Definitely gay.”

Summary
For some reason, he wasn’t expecting the poor soul to be a boy roughly his age with scruffy hair and striking blue eyes set in a delicate face.
Jens straightened subtly in his chair, placed to the right side of his mother’s throne, and met the boy’s eyes for half a second.
His mother ordered a sharp, “Kneel.”
Before the boy could comply, one of the guards that had escorted him set a heavy hand on his shoulder and forced him down, making him land on the stone floor in a manner that left Jens’s own knees aching in sympathy. The boy simply caught his breath and held his chin high, looking straight at them and through, his jaw clenched.
Jens drummed his fingers on his knee in interest.
“Speak your name to the Court.”
The boy took a breath as some of his masqueraded confidence slipped. “Lucas. Lucas van der Heijden.”

Summary
Lucas is an aspiring musician who just received an internship to study under the well-renowned Dr. Elio Stoffels. Leaving Utrecht is all he ever wanted but he feels quite adamant to see Antwerp as a possible new home. Music and studying, he tells himself, is all he is bound to do in the new city.
Until he meets the beautiful lips turned up in a smirk and a cigarette dangling between them.
