As suspicious and crazy as it makes Bruce feel, he cannot deny that Clark cares. He’s constantly checking in on Bruce. They talk on the phone practically every day, and Superman has become a frequent and regular visitor at Wayne Manor. Dick adores him. Alfred does too. He keeps making hints about ‘letting Mr. Kent into the club in an official capacity’.
Clark is wonderful. He is good—too good.
He won't treat Bruce the way Bruce wants to be treated.

The rain had been falling for hours, cold, sharp, and relentless. Gotham’s night streets shimmered like cracked glass under the flickering streetlights. Bruce was wrapping up a long, tiring mission; his knuckles still throbbed beneath the gloves, and the cowl felt heavier than usual. All he wanted was silence, a drive home, and perhaps a quiet nod from Alfred before retreating into the cave.
But when he turned the corner toward where he’d left the Batmobile, silence was the last thing on the scene.
A small figure crouched by the back tires, a small shadow. Bruce paused, muscles tensing, eyes narrowing behind the cowl. The figure didn’t see him at first; small hands were busy with a wrench, struggling against a bolt that was far too strong.

It doesn't look like NYC even from just an alleyway. He can practically smell the gloom floating in the air. Well– he can't smell gloom, but he can smell blood and piss, which isn't the usual smell from his city. Well, they are, but it's never this strong, and always accompanied by other comforting smells. But the worst is the sounds. Peter can hear the sound of gunshots and screaming.
