now that the war is over, aang is determined to propose to his forever girl in the right way, the traditional way, the water-tribe way. unfortunately, standing between him and the proposal necklace he knows katara deserves is a complete and utter lack of fine arts skills. katara, desperate to ensure that aang compromises none of his airbender traditions in marrying her, is in a similar boat as she obsesses over her own proposal plans. naturally, neither of the two are aware that the other plans to propose.
and naturally, toph, zuko, and sokka... unfortunately have to bear witness to their ridiculously over-thought-out schemes...but not without throwing in at least a handful of snide comments and snappy retorts.
OR: inspired by ngoziu's 2012 minicomic in which aang attempts to make katara a betrothal necklace. sokka is, obviously, unimpressed, and assumes it was made by momo.

In the midst of it, Katara closes her eyes and pictures herself. In this dream, she is self-assured and confident. Stronger. She pictures the bar women with cropped hair and leather boots. Then the dancers, traversing between feminine and masculine, their plumes, their sparkle.
She imagines Aang, comfortable in his body. She imagines him proud.

Katara turned back around, a small smile on her face. “Well? How do I look?”
Her expression held a bit of shyness, but also confidence, a little like she already knew the answer.
Instead of giving a normal compliment like “that dress looks amazing!” or “you look really pretty!” Aang had this to say instead:
“Like a really beautiful mermaid.”
Katara hadn’t stopped smiling, but her eyes blinked rapidly in surprise. Aang cringed and mentally hit his face with his hand. Why did he say that?!
Katara giggled. “A mermaid huh? Haven’t heard that one before.” Her smile had gotten bigger now. “Well, thank you Aang.”
And with that, well, how could Aang not smile back?
Aang, a advertising student at Ba Sing Se University of the Arts and Katara, a fashion design student, help each other with their midterm assignments.

Aang, Katara, and friends attend a house party at Toph's. Aang and Katara struggle with their emotions as they interact with other party guests. Very flirty and angsty, mostly fluffy until it ends with smut. Slightly modern AU, with modern conventions related to house parties, but still takes place during their timeline.
