Astrid’s arm is warm and steady around his shoulders, Ruff and Tuff aren’t trying to start a food fight with the popcorn, Snotlout is painting his nails, Fishlegs is reading, the fairy lights are soft and warm. It’s the picture-perfect frame of a perfect evening.
Only it isn’t. Because everything is wrong, and his friends all know it’s wrong, only they don’t want to talk about any of it.
