When Freminet and his siblings visited Liyue during their vacation time, he found that this nation was pretty different from Fontaine. Its colors were calmer and it felt far more ancient and just so much warmer as well. The beaches were decorated with shells and starconches and the trees were so uniquely colorful and bright. It was like stepping into a whole other world.
On one particular day, he’d just finished diving and stepped on the beach of Yaoguang Shoal. Suddenly he heard a voice calling.
“Wahhh! Chongyun, look! It’s a sea monster from the depth of the oceans! It’s probably looking to seek revenge for their beloved and wreak havoc upon the land!”
Freminet blinked. A sea monster? Where? He looked around left and right but he couldn’t make out anything unusual.
...Were they shouting about him?

He turns around on his comfortable seat near an open balcony, where he had been idly watching the remaining Lantern Rite celebrations. Walking closer, Childe waves at the god and offers him a playful smile. He’s holding a medium-sized bag.
“Your pronunciation is still just a little off,” Zhongli teases, smiling to match. He can tell it’s not really up to the pleasant calm of his usual ones, but the Harbinger doesn’t call him out on it. The man just pulls a nearby chair to watch the festivities with him. “I did not expect to see you this Lantern Rite, Ajax.”

And yet neither of them can seem to manage such a distant sort of relationship. Their stories continue to intertwine, and without really meaning to, they draw one another in, until their orbits are practically aligned.
Around them, Fontaine’s prophesied demise looms, dragging long buried secrets to light and testing the both of them in the process. As the flood draws nearer, they will have to confront not only this tentative warmth between them, but their own flaws, fears, and wishes as well.
