It has been a while since Stilgar last had a chance to isolate himself from his tribe, since he was last granted a break. He was hesitant; unwilling to leave his man in the Sietch Tabr, without Stilgar present to aid and minister to Him. And yet, his Mahdi insisted; claiming Stilgar earned a night to himself, alone with the desert. Unable to say no to the man, Stilgar gave in. As the Naib, Stilgar couldn’t help but feel like he was breaking some sort of rule to spend tonight alone. Although, however fleeting, he relished in it. Even so, he couldn’t deny the way his heart aches. The way his soul yearns.
Paul Muad’dib Atreides was always at the forefront of Stilgar’s very soul. Usul held Stilgar’s heart in His hands, if He knew it or not. It was as if He had crept His way into Stilgar’s spirit; claiming it as His own just as Shai-Halud claims the sands it wanders.
