Aether agreed, he placed his hand on mine, giving it a little squeeze. His hand was calloused but warm without his gloves, it was reassuring and grounding when he held my hand like that. Still, as nice as it was, it felt a little embarrassing. This poor guy was stuck in this world, searching for his missing sister, and now he had to deal with me tagging along.
Guilt sat heavily in my stomach or perhaps I was starting to get indigestion.

There, he meets Aether: a student like himself but already popular across the town for his good looks, shining personality, eagerness to help, and of course, athletic achievements that a small town like The Jade loves boasting with.
Getting along is not unexpected; they are both friendly, and the spark between them is undeniable. What's unexpected is that the spark would explode into flames, burning through their facades until their most surreptitious imperfections are exposed to one another, making them the only people who know each other in a town who knows of them both.

For some unfathomable reason, the camera shifts lower to show off the curve of Childe's throat and the cut of his jaw. Scaramouche is so outraged he sputters in his seat.

Lumine snorts. "For the same reason you haven't switched channels yet."
He throws the remote at her face.
Or, Scaramouche's lived his entire life half-stuck to the global platinum band that is the Harbingers. When he emancipates from it, he doesn't expect that it'll propulse him into another, lesser-known band that's everything the Harbingers was not: warm, kind, and infused with bubble gum pop.
In parallel, Childe, a minor indie celebrity who's orbited around him for years, crash-lands straight into his business and doesn't seem willing to leave.
He used to be emotionally constipated: he probably won't be for much longer.
