Ella Rhodes escapes from Vault 101, but finds that she isn't the only one to have escaped. Cassie, her long time rival and twin sister of Butch DeLoria, had used the chaos in the vault as a distraction to use in her own favor. But out in the Wasteland, they are forced to rely on each other and become something like friends in their joined effort of survival while trying to find Ellas' father.
From there, bad things seem to happen more often than the good. Without any guidance to help them, Cassie buys Charons' contract for Ella, Ella meets her long-lost brother, and the feud between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave come to a tipping point.
